A Glimpse of Fate
“I need you to forgive me, Draco.”
Tears welled in Regulus’ eyes as he stared down at his godson, his hand caressing the little boy staring up at him from the crib.
“You don’t understand and I know you won’t remember but, forgive me anyways, will you?”
The baby stared at him, eyes wide and innocent; oblivious to the nightmare known as life. If it were up to Regulus, he’d shelter the boy forever and keep him from learning how troublesome things truly are.
“Reg..” a soft voice came from behind him. Regulus nodded with a sad smile, eyes never leaving the crib.
Regulus trembled as he backed away, a broken sob escaping from him. “Promise me you’ll tell him I loved him. Promise me you’ll let him know who I was.” His eyes were red and overflowing with tears as he stared at his cousin.
Narcissa shook her head at him, refusing to accept the fate of her little brother. “What are you going to do? Where are yo-“
She refused to acknowledge what her heart was telling her. The answers to her questions were right in front of her but she ignored them. This couldn’t be happening.
Regulus walked past her quickly, knowing if he stayed any longer he wouldn’t fulfill his promise to himself.
