The Secret

Kristie and Sydney flew back early from their visit in Canada visiting Syd’s mother since they weren’t going to be going for Christmas. Their due date was approaching fast they wanted to be in the comfort of their own hospital with their personal doctor. Boston, Massachusetts was considered home to them since they home play for the Boston Breakers although Kristie is on maternity leave for the time being.

The flight was short and quick the longest wait they was waiting for Krisite to get out of the restroom so they could finally head home. Sydney knocked out as soon as she hit the pillow she didn’t feel her wife and boss toss and turning all night long. Boss was trying to wake up Syd but she’s didn’t wake up until Boss began to licking her face for attention. When she finally woke up she tried not to cause much movement she didn’t want to wake up her wife who had been having trouble sleeping the past few nights. However Kristie had been awake for a while now leaning up against the wall rubbing her belly and trying to get the most comfortable as possible. She heard groans of pain with grasp and felt a bit of movement when she turns to her side to see that her wife was awake with an annoyed face expression.

Syd: “Good morning Sweetheart, good morning baby girl (lifting Krisite’s shirt up to kiss her belly)

Their baby girl quickly responded with a strong kick making Kristie groan in pain. They wonder how could a small human being have that much strength to kick and make her feet visible against the skin.

Kristie: “Morning”

Syd: “Whats wrong”

Kristie: “She’s been moving and kicking, punching like crazy since early in the morning no matter how I lay or sit I can’t get comfortable enough”

Syd: “Let me take Boss outside real quick then get us some breakfast to see if that calms her down but either way we will go to the doctor.”

Syd sent her wife out to the living room to see if she could distract her self with that ever game was on meanwhile she opened the door of house to for Boss to take care of his business. Noise started to come out from the kitchen she finished making the bed and ran out to the kitchen to see her wife making breakfast to distract herself. Breakfast was serve the household favorite was OJ, french toast with some fruit on the side. It seems like even with food the baby was moving more however now she felt like a cramp like pain Kristin motioned for her wife to hurry up eating so they could head out to the doctor.

Usually Krisite always wanted to look good before stepping outside of their house but this time she wasn’t in the mood for dressing up. A big t-shirt and comfy sweats and hair in a bun was her OOTD. Syd knew if her wife walked out like that it meant she wasn’t in the mood or she was in pain/sick she knew not to mess with her. Doctors office was a 10 minute drive they got lucky and got a couple lights on green and got to the office in 6-7 minutes. Their doctor was a huge women’s soccer fan when ever the girls called the doctor she made sure to get to them the best treatment possible and answer 99% of their questions like any new mothers would ask. At 4 months Dr. Wagner gave them the news on what gender they were having the couple were so stoked they gave their doctor VIP on field tickets for the Breaker’s game.

The nurse put them in their usual room within minutes Dr. Wagner came in to exam Kristie on why she was feeling so much discomfort. With the symptoms that were being described all the doctor needed to know was how dialed she was.

Dr.Wagner: “Well the reason why your in so much discomfort is because your body is prepping for labor … from the looks of everything looks like we will be meeting this future soccer player tonight if she’s decided to make her appearance”

Syd: “What? She’s not due until a few more weeks”

Dr.Wagner: “Usually that baby is born between 35 to 40 weeks sometimes they come early and other times stay take a little
longer”

Kristie: “Babe we might have our baby girl in our arms tonight”

Dr.Wagner: “I will met you guys at the hospital to get things going prepping the room and my staff”

The hospital bag had been in the trunk of the BMW before they left to Canada since Syd became extremely paranoid when they found out they were going to have a baby. Dr. Wagner had told them they didn’t have to rush into the hospital she recommended them to get some type of food in them since it could turn out to be a long night. The couples goes to lunch near the hospital just in case of any emergencies could happen they were close.

Towards the end up of lunch the cramping began again without hesitation Syd quickly pay for the tab running out towards the car moving faster than ever. At the main entrance of the hospital their was a security and nurse were waiting for their arrival within matter of minutes the nurse had taken them up to the to maternity floor while the security parked their BMW. They were showed to their room promptly letting Krisite get as close to comfortable as she could with the amount of pain she was feeling. !5 minutes after they were settled into the room Dr. Wagner came in to check how dialed she was now compared to when they were in her office . She recommend Kristie to walk around to try to speed the process Kristie didn’t want to walk around the hospital where any one who recognize her she didn’t want to be bombard with fans while in pain. Instead she opted in to walking circle around the room once she got bored of doing circles she order Syd to bring up the ball that was in the trunk so she could at least have motivation to walk around. By the time Syd got back into the room the pain had increased the ball was no longer needed for motivation to walk around.

Kristie was handling the pain like a champ overtime a contraction hit she only gripped the rail causing her knuckles go white. Unlike other women in labor Krisite did not yell or anything close only groaned as each contraction rolled thru her body. Syd simply wiped the sweat off her wife forehead, giving her water and prep talking her wife.

“Kristie when ever your ready to push we can began” with a nodded the count down began “5 …4 …3 …2 … 1… Push ok almost there one more push and you have your baby”

Syd: “Your doing great babe almost there”

Syd holding her wife hand wth every contraction the grip was tighter and tighter. “5… 4… 3… 2… 1… Push”

Dr. Wagner: “Almost their give me 1 big push your almost done”

Syd: “You can do it 1 more”

Dr. Wagner: “5… 4… 3… 2… 1… Push”

Everything went quiet in the room the only noise was a loud angry crying baby who was being passed around by the nurses to make sure she was perfectly fine. No matter which nurse tried to calmed down the baby the cry only got louder and louder. She began to calm down a bit when she reach the arms of Syd whimpers and fussing began to dwell down but not completely quiet.

Syd: “She’s so tiny and perfect”

Kristie: “Let me see her babe”

Syd places their daughter gently into her wife’s arms who started to get all emotional. “Stupid hormones” she said before being told by the nurse that the baby must be hungry and she should attempt to breastfeed before being in the formula. The baby was too hungry and angry to understand that they were trying to feed her that it took a while for her to latch on. She fell asleep while eating Krisite removed the baby carefully from herself to give to Syd to burp her then to set her down on the hospital cribs.

Before they told anyone about the news they both called their parens to let them know their granddaughter was born. Syd took advantage of that boy her girls were asleep to take a picture of the newborn and sent it to their teammates (USWNT & the Breakers). Within .5 seconds of sending the picture she received replies from both sets of teammates congratulating them as well as asking to know her name. Her name was much of a secret they just wanted to wait and be suspenseful allowing them to take a couple of more guess.

By the time both grandparents were in the room the baby was already wrapped in a bright pink newborn onesie, pink little headband and a few bright pink blankets. She was already a dive like her mothers demanding attention. The couple was the most curious to know what eye color their newborn had gotten either green/grey like Kristie or brown eyes like Syd. When it came down to choosing a loner they picked one who shared the same traits as Syd so she could at least in a while look like her other mother. The moment they had been waiting for happen when their baby girl began to cry in hungry again. They caught a little glimpse of her little green eyes before they closed again to concentrate on her milk.

~ Next Morning ~

Since it was a quick easy labor no complication mother and baby were perfectly fine both were released the next morning. Without any hesitation Dr.Wagner released them with one condition they would go in for a check up very soon. Since the security had the keys to the BMW he pulled up the vehicle up to the front of the main entrance. The baby was wrapped in her bright pink attire her mothers had set out for her. Since it was December and the weather is much more cold she was wrapped in twice as many blankets than usual baby. She didn’t even wake up during the movement in the car or when they arrived and set her down in her nursery.

Syd and Krisite biggest concern was Boss is very spoiled and attention queen and demanded it from both their mothers. They were afraid that boss would attack the baby since they would be paying more attention to the baby instead of him. Syd was being cautious she installed doggy gates all around the house especially around the door of the nursery.

When Krisite set the baby on the sofa they allowed Boss to get close and personal to familiar himself with his sister. Sniffed all around moved around and circled around the baby. Syd was worried that Boss would attack any minute when he creeped up closer to the baby until he found his spot curling around his little sister to take a nap with her. The couple was surprised their dog curled up near the baby instead of attacking. It was too cute not to document this moment they grab their phones to snap a picture of the moment.

Boss moved his bed from the living room to next to the door of the nursery. To be closer to Sammy Kristie found it adorable how much boss care of their little human they had created.

~ A couple of weeks later ~

Sammy was a calm baby although she loved to sleep during the day and be awake during most of the night. She was lucky she was cute or else Syd would be grumpy every morning since she is not a morning person. Sammy’s little green eyes had a little glow when she would be up during the night she usually fell asleep to the voice of Syd humming a baby lullaby. When the baby didn’t fall asleep Syd would take her back with her to the room with her wife to cuddle up together until she felt both her mommies.

Kristie: “I love sleeping like this with both my girls”
