Fateful Encounter
Summers like this always grated at Minami's mind. The rain pounded on her window, it was so sunny out yet it was muddied by falling droplets. She sighed, she had to make a trip to her modelling gig downtown today. This weather would totally ruin her hair and vibes. Last week her umbrella was stolen at the convenience store, leaving her with no other option but to go buy another today!
She got dressed in a light blue jacket, white t-shirt, and matching white shorts. She pulled her jacket hood over her head and braced herself for the outside world.
Rain pelted her head as she ran through the streets. When turning the corner, she collided with someone. They were both sent tumbling to the wet concrete floor.
"Aughh.." Grumbled a sweet voice. It was as if time stopped. The slow falling leaves from freshly bloomed trees, the water sliding off of the sidewalk down sewer grates, the falling rain, it all slowed. Who was this girl she bumped into? She was a beauty! Her eyes were a ruby pink colour, adorned with dazzling grace and playfulness. Her hair equally as stunning; it was a graceful gold, slightly darkened by the dampness. "Ahh! I'm so sorry!!" The beauty shot up, extending her hand to Minami.
"Oh my! No it's all my fault!" Minami stuttered.
"Is that Kansai dialect? Oh wow! Nice to meet you! I'm Ruby Hoshino!" Ruby gleamed while clasping Minami's hands in-between her own. She pulled Minami up from the ground with a huff. Ruby looked down at Minami's chest and her eyes widened. "Wow! Those are beautiful!" Ruby motioned towards Minami's breasts, smiling. Minami let out a small chuckle and brushed herself off.
"Thank you..." Minami smiled. After staring each other down for a while, Minami got flustered. She was getting drenched before her modelling gig! "Ahh! I'm so very sorry! I have to get going!" Minami stumbled away, headed to the convenience store.
"Oh..Wait!" Ruby reached out but it was too late, Minami had already sped off. "What a shame! I was going to ask for her line!" Ruby sulked.
Minami player with her pink hair, it was soggy and cold. She was already at the checkout with her newly picked out umbrella. It was yellow at the handle with a nice metal rod lining up to the top of the umbrella where there was a cute pompompurin print. She paid and left, her new umbrella held high above her head. Not that it mattered... She was already soaked.
When she arrived home she only had two hours before her shoot. That left her with one hour to freshen up and dry off and another hour to walk to the place. But none of that mattered to her, all she could think of was that golden haired goddess! Her voice too: it was silky and sultry, playful and cheery! She just seemed so perfect! She fell down onto her couch and sighed. After a moment of thinking she got ahold of herself and climbed her way upstairs to dry her hair.
A few days passed since her meeting with Ruby Hoshino. But it was still all she could think of. Today especially, it was pouring again like it had been that fateful day. Minami wondered, if she goes to that spot again...Just maybe they would meet once more. She pulled on her light blue jacket and ran off without an umbrella.
Again, here she was. Just about to turn the corner and..THUD! She ran into someone! She smiled wide and opened her eyes to see a boy. But something was familiar about him. He had the same dazzling eyes as Ruby Hoshino only in a bright blue shade. The boy didn't fall over, he stood there cold as stone.
"Are you--"
"Do ya know Ruby Hoshino?" Before the boy could finish his dental Minami blurted out her thoughts. "Ahh sorry! That was rude of me..." Minami bowed.
"You know Ruby?" His blue eyes narrowed, he took a defensive stance.
"Ah..I met her here actually! We just...um..." Minami scratched her head and trailed off. She didn't know Ruby. The boy softened his composure and then smiled brightly, shifting dramatically from his previous appearance.
"Here, take my umbrella." He grinned and outstretched his hand with a plain clear umbrella.
"I want to be Ruby Hoshino's friend!" Minami blurted out once more. If this guy really knew Ruby then she wasn't going to let him go! She had to meet her again! The blue eyed boy's smile dropped and returned as if nothing happened.
"She's my sister, actually" he lowered his head and smiled, "I'll give you her contact information." He finally said. Minami couldn't help but shoot up from the ground all giddily. She really wanted to meet with Ruby Hoshino right then and there! But for some reason her brother seemed so guarded. "My name is Aquamarine. Aquamarine Hoshino." He said, moving the umbrella above Minami's head. Minami pushed the umbrella away.
"Sorry! I don' wanna trouble you further!" She sputtered sheepishly. Then, they exchanged contacts. Well, Ruby's contact!
