Chapter 26
Alex smiled as Tobin’s car cruised into her line of vision. Tobin had an off day and insisted that she take her favorite girl out to lunch on her break.
She shuffles to the car, still in her white coat as Tobin comes to a complete stop near the side walk.
“Hey Ba-“ she begins to say as she opens the car door but is completely lost for words when she finally lays eyes on Tobin.
“you coming or are you just gonna stand and drool?” Tobin smirks - she was dressed to impress - decked out in white button down and navy blue dress pants. She had taken a few more minutes than normal to get ready, knowing Alex would appreciate.
“You look so hot.” Alex groans, finding her mind drifting further and further away from lunch as she works to secure herself in the passenger seat.
She moves to give what Tobin thinks will be a quick kiss, but a second turns into what feels like eternity for Tobin as Alex kisses her with an unexpected level of intensity - which of course she reciprocates.
It’s Alex who breaks away first, blaming her period and her crazy schedule for being more worked up than usual. She was helping a friend - who was also a vet with a few late night calls while her partner was away. “Who knew so many pets got sick at night?” She had thought to herself more than a few times this week.
Tobin looks back at her, like a dazed sheep, waiting to be told what to do next.
Alex unbuckles her seat belt, blue eyes laced with naughty intentions as she places her hand on Tobin’s inner thigh, kissing her again, this time more purposefully. She knew they were in full view of the public - but she didn’t care, hoping that Tobin’s tints would be enough to stop any prying eyes. Alex was in control, and there was going to be nothing stopping her from getting what she wanted.
Alex breaks the kiss again, moving her mouth to the base Tobin’s neck, licking all the way up to Tobin’s pulse point where she sinks her teeth in - smiling at the way Tobin
gasps in arousal. To Alex, there was just something so satisfying about turning Tobin on.
Alex pulls back again, leaving her hand on Tobin’s thigh as she looks at Tobin, who’s completely ready to submit to whatever Alex asks of her.
“Baby” she says, tilting her head innocently to look at Tobin whose labored breathing fills the air. Tobin’s eyes meet hers and they’re dark with desire.
“Let me take you to my office and show you what I really want to eat.” She whispers, moving her hand into Tobin’s pants, sliding her finger through the accumulating wetness before withdrawing her hand and putting said finger in her mouth - not breaking eye contact with Tobin the entire time.
“Fuck.” Tobin moans, not really in a position to refuse. If Alex kept looking at her like that, they might not even make it out of the car.
Tobin had been looking forward to lunch -
But Alex wanted something else to eat.
**
“I could die like this” Tobin thinks as she sits across from Alex in her office. (Although she was 98% sure she died five minutes ago with the way Alex was using both her hands and tongue to bring her to the peak of ecstasy.)
Alex was just tapping away on her computer, and Tobin was content to watch. She could never get tired of seeing Alex’s face.
Every once in a while Alex would sneak a glance at Tobin, smiling like a shy school girl when their eyes would meet.
While Alex didn’t show it - there was a lot weighing on her mind. Specifically, a weight the size of a tiny velvet box that was currently sitting in a bigger box, which was placed strategically in her office drawer.
They had talked about it before of course. After they had signed their annulment papers, they rambled on and on about doing things the right way once the time was right.
Alex knew that that time was now. She was 100% certain that there was no one on the planet that she was capable of loving more than she loved Tobin. Her Tobin.
The Tobin that would wake her up with gentle kisses and coffee. The Tobin who would walk to the end of the world and back just for her. The Tobin who’s unconditional love keeps her warm and sane. That Tobin. The one sitting in front of her with the heart eyes right now.
“What are you thinking about?” Tobin asks. Eyes squinting in intrigue.
“This.” Alex says moving to retrieve the velvet box from her drawer. Alex walks around her desk and squats so that she’s eye level with Tobin who sits shellshocked in her seat.
“Everything that I can put into words about how I feel about you - I have said to you before. So this ring is me saying what I can’t put into words. I think it’s far more than a promise that I’ll love you forever - which I will, but yeah. I have decided that I want to spend the rest of my life showing you what I can’t put into words. Tobin Heath, will you marry me?”
Tobin is teary eyed as she nods her head. “Yes. Yes. Yes.” “You didn’t even have to ask.” She laughs. “With you, it was always yes.”
Alex laughs too, wiping the tears from her own eyes as she moves to give Tobin a kiss.
“I love you so much.” Tobin mumbles against her lips as she enjoys the feeling of contentment that washes over her heart.
“I love you more.” is all Alex says.
