Wake Up
Coming to this time was surprisingly more scarier for Lexa though she knew where she was she had still many unanswered questions. Her body jolted forward as if she had woken from a nightmare.
“Easy Lexa.” The voice came from the side to grip onto her arm to lay her back down.
With eyes adjusting to the room she realized they had finally given her treatment. Her room was her own as her bed laid center surrounded by two chairs and the monitor that was pumping fluids into her arm.
Looking down one of her arms had been casted up and placed in a splint. Attempting to move her leg she as well realized it had been bandaged even though the blanket had covered up prohibiting her to see what happened.
Finally bringing herself out of her surroundings there was only one thing that came to her mind.
“Clarke.” The word barely came out due to the dryness in her throat.
The person who gripped her arm gave her water but with her cast arm and the other with an IV in it she realized she could not pick it up. With the same realization the other person held the cup to her mouth and tilted it back. To thank them she finally got a good look of who was there.
It was Anya who had stood by her side the entire time and it was clear the woman had been here for a while but the changed clothes from the last time she saw her indicated that Lexa had been out longer than she realized.
“She is still in a coma.”
“I have to see her.” Again she attempted to push her body forward only to have her pushed back down.
“You need to rest. Clarke is unchanging, when she does we will get you immediately.”
“How long has it been?”
“Only a day.”
Before their conversation went anywhere the doctor came in and explained her injuries. Besides the broken arm and torn muscles in her shoulder her idiot self had managed to damage some nerves in her leg.
The doctor said having tried to stand up on it multiple times caused the injury to worsen which would force her to use a cane to keep her balance until she could walk normal again. During the medical report Abby made her way into the room to listen in.
Wrapping it up he nodded his head and left to leave the three women to talk. Lexa looked towards the older woman with guilt consuming her.
She was prepared to take any anger the woman was about to give. There weren't any words that she could come up with that would come close to how she was feeling.
Were there any words to be spoken when you looked into the eyes of your lover's mother having hurt her when you swore you'd protect her with every being in you?
However, Abby found the strength needed to confront the situation as she surprised the girl with a tight hug. It was stiff and rigid at first but Abby only hugged tighter causing her to sink into the woman's embrace.
“I'm so sorry.” The older woman only stroked her hair trying to sooth the pain of the girl she has come to see as a second daughter.
After the tears had finally found its way out the three were then able to begin to talk about the accident and sort things out.
“I can't remember much quite honestly.”
“Why wasn't Clarke wearing her seatbelt?”
Lexa shut her eyes tight trying to recall all the events and maybe help try to understand what had really happened in the accident.
“Food.”
“We can get you fo-”
“No.” Lexa cut off trying to sort out the memories. “Anya told us she gave us leftovers and I asked if Clarke had grabbed it. She took off her seatbelt for a second to check if it was in the back.”
“Then what happen?”
“I uh I looked on the floor to see if I could help her. There was a honk and a bright light when I looked forward. Then I woke up.”
“We need more information Lexa.”
“I don’t know what you want me to say.”
“Really think about it. There had to be more of the accident you remember.” Anya was hell bent on getting information from the girl. It was the only way they could know the full story and help both women out.
Seeing concern on both women, Lexa did her best to try to recall the night. The day had started with the terrible news, which suddenly felt like a lifetime ago. Reluctantly the two had gone to the party to blow off steam and by the end of the night they had felt somewhat better.
They had made small talk and then she had asked about the food. When looking to help her her eyes left the road for less than a second and she was so sure of that.
“He wasn’t honking at me was he?”
The exchanged glance between Anya and Abby did not go unnoticed as she quirked her eyebrow in response. She didn't have to speak for them to understand she wanted an answer. Anya nodded her head signaling she was going go be the brave soul to answer it.
“You swerved the car into the other lane and not away like you thought.”
“He-he honked. I heard it.”
“He had accidentally hit the horn. It must have scared you because you were in your own lane only moving after the honk.”
Running her hand through her hair she began to slowly shake it trying to understand what she had done. The information managed to make her life a hundred times worse with all these different possibilities leading to one person, Clarke.
“Lexa. Titus, Abby, and I have been doing our best to pull some strings but the police want to question you.”
She didn't need to respond with a why because she knew it was expected that it would follow up.
“There was alcohol in your system.”
“I was sober, I hadn't had a drink in hours.” Her defense quickly went up knowing she was not that stupid to do such a thing.
“It must have lingered in your system because they found .02% of alcohol in your blood and they want to use it against you if anything happens to Clarke.”
“What about the other driver?” It was the first time in the entire accident Lexa realized they had hit someone which meant anything could have happened to them.
“The driver is fine and walked away with not even a scratch. Lexa this is bad for your candidacy.”
“I don't care about that.”
“They also think it was suicide.”
“Why would I ever endanger my life and put Clarke’s at risk. That is preposterous. I only care for Clarke's safety. I need to see her.”
“No.” Anya had spoken with authority but Lexa did not take commands from anyone.
Lexa attempted to get up but with all the monitors attached to her there was no way she was going to get out of it. Besides her injured leg, her body was not strong enough to do what her mind had requested. Her body was still weak and it needed to rest to recuperate itself.
Anya again had pushed her back down preventing her from seeing Clarke. It could have been the medicine or the rush of adrenaline but she felt as if they were keeping her from seeing Clarke.
“Why won’t you let me see her?”
“Your body needs to rest.” Abby spoke up knowing it was a valid excuse.
“Then wheel me over to her.”
“We can’t, you need to recover Lexa.”
“I may have been in an accident but I am not stupid. There is something neither of you are telling me.”
Abby sighed this time taking the responsibility. She grabbed Lexa’s good hand and slowly began to rub the back of it with her thumb not wanting to make eye contact. Lexa could feel her heart race knowing this was not a good sign.
“Clarke might not wake up. She is currently on life support.”
“No.”
“Lexa, please.”
“No, I need to see her.” Lexa pulled out the IV in her and began to push Abby away so that she could get up. However, with her injuries Anya was faster and able to stop the girl from getting up. She pushed her back into the bed causing a loud thump as her head crashed into the pillow.
“Nou Leska. Sen.” Anya growled annoyed with the woman who normally was never so irrational but understood she became frantic when it came to Clarke.
Lexa snapped into commander mode as the language had always done for her. She was fluent in a few languages but growing up Trigedasleng had been her first.
“Continue Abby.” Anya removed her hands off the girl when she knew when the green eyes that had turned dark returned.
“Clarke had a damaged lung. The life support is only to help her breathe until it can self heal. With that being said she had hit her head pretty hard causing her to have brain damage but we won’t know the extent of it until she wakes up. Clarke waking up is all up to her.”
“We want you to see her but right now Lexa you need to get better and heal. Clarke is not going anywhere and neither are you.” Anya wrapped up knowing the billions of ideas running through Lexa’s mind.
A knock on the door brought the women out of conversations as they turned to see a resident at the door. Motioning the boy in they all stepped as moved towards Lexa to hand her a few papers.
“Mrs. Woods, we need your signature to run a test on Dr. Griffin.”
“Wait, what test are you running and Lexa cannot sign off on that. I am her mother I will do it.” Abby stepped forward to grab the paperwork but Lexa knew what was about to come out and it was not going to end well.
“Oh now that Lexa is awake she is the only one who can sign off on this as she is the spouse of Dr. Griffin.”
Lexa swore she never saw a body whip so fast to face the girl lying in bed. She felt a large lump in her throat watching the woman’s face filled with sympathy turned into anger. Anya too had her jaw dropped as she looked towards Lexa unable to stop the words that flowed off her tongue.
“Now it makes sense why you and Clarke were trying to have a baby.” Her hands went quickly to her mouth knowing she was sworn to secrecy and broke the code.
When Lexa swore she never saw a body turn that fast she was wrong because Abby turned her body towards Anya now in complete shock and horror. So Lexa thought she was fucked before but now she was in standing in a deeper pile of shit.
“Um that was what we actually wanted to test for.” The resident spoke up noticing the sudden tension in the room. Lexa looked up in hope Abby’s stare would cool down.
“The doctor noticed an increase in hormones and a few other things so he just wanted to check to make sure he can rule everything out.” Signing the paper she quickly gave him the clipboard mortified of what was going to happen.
“Abb-”
“Oh no it’s Dr. Griffin to you now.” Abby spoke up as she crossed her hands expecting an answer from the brunette.
“Clarke and I got married but we were waiting for the right time to tell everyone.”
“No wedding?”
“It was complicated especially after Clarke expressed her desires to want a family. We kind of just went for it but when we found out neither of us could get pregnant we wanted to tell everyone everything in one shot but we did not get the chance to.”
Lexa tried her best only to explain but Abby just left disappointed her daughter wasn’t able to tell her the news. Anya felt deprived of a wedding and explained the second this was over they were going to get a big party.
They both understood Lexa did not need anymore stress than she already had on her plate which is why they did not pressure her further. Instead the girl got some more rest unaware of what was ahead.
-----
When she awoke she found the TV was turned onto the news. It seemed as if the reporter was finishing a new topic with closing remarks.
The next images were the ones to send shivers down her spine. It was the accident and for the first time she saw the aftermath of her actions.
“Candidate Lexa Wood’s recent accident has still remained in questions as there has been no word from Woods or company. Though sources have informed us both Woods and her girlfriend are alive, their injuries have yet to be revealed.”
Pictures of the accident, photos of her and Clarke, and videos from cellphones appeared on screen. She toned out the woman who began to go on about possible speculation.
Videos showed of her screaming over her girlfriend’s body with her bloody hands. Other pictures showed her crying in the arms of Anya who held a fearful look. The car had been completely flipped over which was a few feet away from the semi that had hit them.
A photo of Clarke and her that came from one of their posts on social media flashed. It was the two of them on the beach where Clarke was cradling her. Lexa kept her arms tight around the woman’s neck afraid of being dropped as the blonde beamed at the camera.
Lexa smiled at the remanence of the memory. Clarke had worn her pink bikini as she swore that it looked good against her tanned skin which she had managed to get really dark during that vacation. Lexa was able to get some color too though the black bikini had not shown it very well.
The day had been going perfect until Lexa got stung by a jellyfish on her toe in which Clarke declared she would be her knight in shining armour as she carried the girl back to the boardwalk. Octavia had managed to capture the picture of the girl who gave the most exaggerated smile with squinting eyes from the sun as Lexa held a thumbs up.
It hit her that she may never get a chance to see that smile again. The girl who had made Lexa smile like a foolish child in that picture may never wake up. Her heart dropped at thought of never having Clarke looking at her like that again. What had she gotten them into?
“You should speak to the press. We can hold a conference right outside the hospital or we could release a personal statement to the news outlet.”
Lexa looked over to find Titus sitting in the chair sorting through some paperwork. She could only imagine how hard his job had gotten with the recent event as media breathed down his neck demanding information.
“They want to know if you are still running for mayor.”
In honesty she had forgotten she was even running. Clarke was the only thing on her mind and her other responsibilities had no sort of significance in her mind. But with Clarke in her mind she knew she would want her to continue this. After all she had been the one to inspire her to run.
“Yes.” Moving to sit her body up she could feel the burst of energy excited to emerge. Her body was finally starting to get back into its old groove.
“We need to talk about what we are going to do Mrs. Woods.”
“Not now Titus. I will release a statement when I am well. The public already knows that we are alive, that is sufficient enough.”
“Would you post something on Twitter then? You have a large fan base holding their breaths in questioning.”
“Then they will understand better than anyone else that I need time.”
“If this is about Clarke then-”
“Do not bring Clarke into this. Leave, I need my rest.” With a loud audible sigh he left the room with the doctor reemerging.
“Mrs. Woods how are you feeling?”
“Well, thank you.” She wanted to say that she would feel a lot better if they let her see her wife but it wasn’t entirely his fault.
“Wonderful.” He began to check some of her vitals in silence and then stopped with a large smile on his face. It was suspicious to Lexa but she knew she did not have to ask as he was going to explain his sudden grin.
“Mrs. Woods, I’d like to be the first to congratulate you on becoming a mother.” Immediately her eyebrow quirked as she felt her heart stop beating for a fraction of a second.
“Dr. Griffin is pregnant.” Her heart definitely stopped beating with those words.
“But they said she couldn’t. That she wasn’t.” Her head tried to wrap her head around the news unable to understand how it was possible.
“Doctors make mistakes and miracles happen, Mrs. Woods.”
“I'm going to be a mom.” Lexa whispered feeling her heart beat again or the first time since the accident. There was going to be a mini Clarke roaming around or Lexa.
Lexa had remembered when they talked to the gynecologist how they were going to impregnate Clarke. They had decided to mix Lexa's and Clarke's eggs with the sperm.
If she had become pregnant, which she did, the child could either be hers or Clarke's egg. Either way she had hope it would be a mini Clarke because a bunch of little blondes with blue eyes felt very satisfying.
“Yes you are. I would be also like to be the first to offer you a chance to see her too, under one condition.” That had gotten her heart rate going up again. She would see Clarke and their new member of the family.
“You must walk over there.”
There had been complications before with her walking. The first time she had to pee they had to use a wheelchair because her leg were not strong enough to help her stand on her own.
They had practiced a few times but failed miserably which resulted in her refusing to try again until it was healed. The doctor had tried to explain that her leg was okay to walk and that all was in her head but she had still refused.
Now she understood what he was doing. He was using Clarke as motivation to get her up and it was the smartest thing he had done as Lexa frantically began to move.
“Easy there. Let’s get your cane.” It was mostly used to help with her balance. Due to her arm and leg being injured on the same side it worked to her benefit as she had to hold the cane on the opposite side.
The bribe had worked because Lexa had made it out of her room with the help of her doctor who held the IV for her. A few of the nurses who had been helping her the past few days smiled and clapped for her as she nodded her in thanks.
Clarke was in ICU which meant they would have to go to another floor. Once she had made it towards the elevator they offered her the wheelchair. She declined and instead continue the walk to see the rest of her family. The doctor stood by her side to help if need be as she picked up her pace upon seeing Abby outside her door.
“Lexa. You are moving!” The words came out more joyful, excited to see the girl improving on her own injuries.
“All it took was a little bribe.” The doctor flashed a smile as Abby understood Clarke was the prize. She laughed as finally Lexa reached the door with a few huffs feeling so out of breath as if she had never worked out.
Despite the pain in her leg she had finally made it to her destination, Clarke. Just as she was about to enter the room a figure from inside moved towards the doorway to block her entrance.
“What is she doing here?” It was Raven who growled in anger preventing Lexa entry. It was the first time she had seen her really angry since they had met when Clarke introduced them. Peering behind her shoulder Octavia stood there too with crossed arms.
“I’m here to see Clarke.”
“After you almost killed her.” Raven spat. The girls were holding resentment towards Lexa for putting their best friend into this situation. Lexa had asked why Octavia and Raven had been the only ones not to see her yet. Anya explained that they didn’t want to leave Clarke and she left it at that.
Now she could see for herself why they truly had not gone to see how she was doing. They were angry with her. Someone needed to be blamed for Clarke’s injuries and if they heard the story correct Lexa was the one to blame.
“I didn’t want that for her. I wish it were me it happened to.”
“Well it didn’t. Clarke is the one in a coma and you’re the one who is frolicing or should I say limping around, gimp.” Raven smirked knowing the exact buttons to push. Lexa could take the blame and their anger but she would never stand to be disrespected.
“At least my injury isn’t permanent.” Keeping eye contact with the woman she could see anger flare in her eyes at the reference to her own leg.
“Son of a bitch.” Raven grabbed the gown at the collar with both hands ready to put her back into the bed she was just in.
“Okay easy now.” The doctor stepped in separating the two women as best as he could. Abby quickly joined in to prevent further dispute.
“Raven.” Abby pushed her off in annoyance
“How could you let her in Abby!” Octavia jumped in from behind now voicing her opinions seeing everyone ganging up on Raven. Clarke needed to be defended from the woman who tried to kill her.
“Just let her in girls.”
“Clarke may never wake up again because of this bitch!” Raven yelled making sure her words were hurting Lexa since she could not physically harm her.
“Hey what’s going on here? I can hear you screaming a mile away.” Anya had jogged over with flowers in her hand and a concerned look painted on. “Lexa you are walking!” She looked over to her cousin who tried to stand as straight up as she could.
Anya’s question was ignored, however, when Lexa made a move to enter the room and Raven blocked her. Lexa only stared her down receiving a death glare in turn.
“Come on Raven, let her in.” Abby tried again.
“I won’t let this attempted murder in my best friend’s room.” Their eyes never separated as the words lingered in the room.
“Lexa is not a killer.” Anya spoke up trying to defend her knowing she would not but take the beating.
“Then explain why Clarke is in a fucking coma with the lingering question of if she will ever wake up!”
“Raven.” Anya stepped between the two girls hoping she could get through to her. “Please, you know how much Lexa loves her.”
“Love is a funny thing Anya. You never know when it’s going to come back and haunt your ass.” Her eyes were finally able to be pulled away from Lexa as Anya held one hand to her face.
“This isn’t you.”
“You don’t know her.” Octavia spoke up from behind causing Raven to turn her head away from the hand. This was not a battle either planned to loose.
“Only family gets through.” Octavia declared standing in the doorway now with Raven. It was Abby who would finally break the stubborn girls down.
“She is family!”
“She never was with us during the hard times growing up. Lexa isn’t family!” Octavia continued to fight for Clarke’s defense.
“She is when she is Clarke’s wife.” Abby silenced the group as the jaws of Octavia’s and Raven dropped.
“Clarke would have told us.”
“She wanted to wait to tell everyone after Octavia's wedding.” Lexa stepped in having more information than the girls.
“Shut up.” Octavia barked which involved the stiffness coming from Lexa.
“Just let her in. We will talk about this later.”
The two girls looked between each other knowing their backs were going to be up the wall any second. Reluctantly Raven let her through knowing Lexa would eventually find her way in and at least this way she could keep an eye on her.
“She'll never forgive you.” Raven spoke as she passed through knowing it was enough to shake the girl.
Lexa had tried to ignore the girls as she made her way over to Clarke. The girl peacefully slept with different machines attached to her. There was a tube attached to her mouth along with different wires coming from her head and arms where she could see the damage to her head.
It slowly killed her to see Clarke so vulnerable and injured because of her mistake. Leaning on the bed she placed the cane against the bed to slowly stroke the blonde hair behind her ear.
It agitated Octavia that this was happening before her eyes. No matter how much she had seen this woman love her best friend it didn’t make up for putting her in this life or death situation.
What Lexa had done next left the room in complete silence. She removed the blanket off of Clarke to reveal her body, then she lifted the gown up to her breasts so her stomach was revealed.
“What are you doing?” Octavia demanded but Abby held a hand on her to prevent her from doing anything irrational.
Lexa slowly leaned down to kiss the bare stomach. The kiss lingered longer than a small peck as she shut her eyes tight almost ripping through her own eyelids.
With that a single tear took its path down her cheek. Feeling her eyes water Lexa pulled away to stare at her stomach slowly brushing her hand over it.
She was going to be a mother. No matter how much she argued with Clarke over this she knew it was the best decision she had made. There was a life growing inside her lover because of their love and that was all she needed to feel the anger disappear from her body, just for a few moments.
She was going to give this child the whole world. Nothing was going to stop her from loving this child because it was a part of Clarke and anything apart of her Lexa would love forever. This child was going to be loved so much they weren’t going to know what to do with it.
Putting the gown down and covering her again with the blanket she returned to her face where she slowly stroked her cheek with a finger.
She stared for a few minutes praying the blonde would flutter her blue eyes open but nothing had happened. Just a blink, a shutter something to let her know this wasn’t the end. Nothing followed except for the machines counting her heart beat. It caused Lexa to stumble into her shoulder as she let out a choking sob into her shoulder.
“I'm so sorry Clarke.” She mumbled between sobs not caring who saw her break down. The build up hurt enough and to finally see her like this triggered all her emotions. She cried for what felt like an eternity unable to bring herself away from her body.
The worst thing she could possibly do was hurt the woman she loved. With it being done Lexa was sure that if Clarke did not wake up she could never live with it. Nothing in the world would ever make it okay.
Pulling away the tears continued to fall but the conversation she had with Clarke had continued as if they were the only two in the room.
“I need you Clarke. We need you.” She looked towards her stomach and back up to Clarke who still of course remained unchanging.
“You did it. You- you- you gave us our own family.” Her words were stuck in her throat as she was determined to express any emotion she could.
“You had a new glow to you. I told you, I am proficient in Clarke Griffin.” Lexa still used her good hand to stroke the side of the girl’s cheek grateful for what the woman had been able to.
“Don’t forget our deal. If it is a boy I’m gonna name him.” With a small laugh her hand moved to her hair trying to find the right conversation. “And if it’s a girl it’s all yours. But then she has to do soccer if she does softball.”
They had dreamt together of a future jokingly a few times but deeper there were dreams laced inside waiting for the opportunity to show themselves and become reality. All their past conversations came flooding back as she laughed at what they had hoped for.
“We can get a bigger house and I’ll take up every responsibility I can. You can still be the surgeon you wanted. We’ll get an SUV just to piss off all the parents with minivans. We will get Casper a date like you’ve always wanted and maybe a dog if the kids want. We’re going to have it all Clarke, all you gotta do is wake up babe. Please, if not for me then for our baby.”
Lexa waited as if Clarke would suddenly wake up and respond but there was still no answer. That was what she feared most, that there would never be an answer. Backing away she grabbed her cane walking out of the room. Everything inside her wanted to stay but she understood now that she had to get better before she could help Clarke.
As the room had remained silent with not one dry eye, including the doctor, Octavia stepped in her way preventing Lexa from getting out. She rolled her eyes seriously not in the mood to handle another fight as her body was not capable of it.
“She is pregnant?” Lexa looked up now to see the woman wiped away with all anger replaced with complete joy and hope yet sadness still lingered. Lexa only nodded her head being caught off guard as two arms wrapped her in an embrace.
“I’m going to be an aunt.” Octavia had spoken as she pulled away now feeling her eyes swell up again.
“And maybe a godmother.” Her eyes widened at the thought. “Clarke is fighting hard for your side.”
“What about me!” Raven moved forward feeling the joy now in the room. Lexa smirked as she looked towards Anya and back. “She has something special up her sleeve, you’ll see.”
This time Raven brought all three into a hug apologizing for her behavior. The breakdown had proven to them that it was their anger being projected onto Lexa. With Clarke’s life on the line it was easy to blame anyone to help sort out their own emotions.
However, it was the simplicity of a new life that had changed the entire atmosphere. Clarke was pregnant which meant whatever happened now, a part of her would always live on.
------
With the passing week or so Lexa found more and more strength to move around the hospital. Which meant she spent more and more time with Clarke. The doctor had said there was a possibility she could hear he, the same with the child.
At night she would sneak out of her room to read a story to the baby and then another to Clarke. Tonight was no different as she finished the book.
“Looking at the refrigerator will remind him that he's thirsty. So... he'll ask for a glass of milk. And chances are if he asks you for a glass of milk, he's going to want a cookie to go with it.”
Closing the book she looked back up to Clarke who still remained unchanging. Clarke claimed this was her favorite book as a child which was why she had chosen it when she was rummaging through children’s books.
Fortunately Clarke was off the life support as her lung had gotten better and breathing on her own was easier. It was a good sign as she now only had a nasal cannula on.
As always she kissed Clarke’s stomach and settled back in her chair to now think of a story for her. There were so many memories she could recount with the blonde that it would take volumes just to capture it all.
A sudden memory flashed through her mind and she knew it was good one to recount tonight.
“Now little one you have to close your ears for this one. Mommy would kill me if she knew you heard this.” Laying a hand on the blonde's stomach she waited as if the baby had heard her and did as told.
“Ah, this one was a while ago Clarke so excuse me if I get this wrong. I'm only choosing it because it's the reason why you made us put a blacklight in our bedroom. So let's see we were dating for almost a year and half now in college…
11 Years Ago
“Are your eyes closed?” Clarke shouted from behind the door before she made her way into the room.
“Yes.” Lexa did not like where this was going but she had reluctantly agreed to let Clarke paint her face and shoulders after much insisting and pleading.
Clarke strode in with the kit in her hand having already finished her own face and not wanting Lexa to see.
She had begun to apply the paint, decorating it to her imagination. The music had been blaring as Clarke sang along. Lexa kept her lips tight shut and face unmoving though she wanted to join along.
From her neck to her shoulders Clarke had covered every inch of her in the paint demanding she would wear a strapless shirt like herself. A part of her had to swallow down any desire to make her marks on the olive skin.
“Can I look?”
“No.” With a grunt Lexa was sparked with an idea knowing she would be yelled at. Lifting her arms she reached for the girl’s stomach to tickle her.
“Lexa!” Clarke squealed feeling the warm fingers work its way on her cold bare skin. With eyes still closed Lexa smiled knowing she had gotten the girl.
“I’m almost done.”
“I will continue if I can’t open my eyes.” Instead of caving in to let her eyes open, Clarke pressed her lips against hers taking her by surprise.
Without a fight she quickly reciprocated enjoying the soft lips against hers. As Clarke wrapped her arms around her neck, Lexa took hold of her hips bringing their bodies closer.
Deepening the kiss, Clarke gave access to the brunette who slipped her tongue inside her mouth. Her hands began to roam the back of her body eliciting a moan from the girl sitting on her lap.
Knowing the intensity that was rising the blonde pulled away trying to catch her breath. Lexa’s eyes remained closed with Clarke leaning her forehead against her own.
“May I now?” Lexa whispered in between breaths.
“Only because we are late.” Lexa laughed finally letting her eyes see what she had been missing, Clarke.
The woman herself had patterns on her face but most of it was transparent allowing her to make the same assumption she had done the same to her.
“Where are we going?”
“Stop asking questions and let’s go.”
Clarke had a special night planned for them as they walked down the streets of the town. The two could already feel the alcohol take over as they could not really drink at the venue.
She handed the bouncer two tickets who let them in. The light from outside was gone as the door shut with music blaring through her ears. It was completely dark but upon moving inside the room Lexa had finally understood what Clarke had done.
“Glow in the dark paint?” The blonde was covered with all sorts of pattern and though many times she had convinced the girl she did not need makeup to look pretty, this made her ten times hotter.
Clarke dragged her onto the dance floor where they meshed with other bodies that bumped to the music. Neither could keep their hands off each other constantly trying to bring their bodies closer than they already were.
Teasing each other back and forth they waited for the other to make the move. Clarke would slip her hand under her shirt. In which response Lexa used her thumb to grip onto her waistband then run along her hip.
The lump her in throat grew larger as the heat in her body roared. There was no way she could tighten her legs even more.
“Don’t make me do it myself.”
“I dare you.” Lexa challenged feeling the power surge run through her body. It became clear early in their relationship both were powerhouses dared to be reckoned with.
“And if I win?” Lexa leaned closer into her ear to make sure she heard her husky deep voice offering the prize.
“Anything you want in bed tonight.”
The smirk on Clarke’s face became unforgettable as she moved her body close to Lexa. At first Lexa was caught off guard as the girl began to suck on her neck biting then soothing it with her tongue.
Her thoughts had been drowned out by the bliss in her body and the loud music thumping in her ears. The green eyes almost popped out of her head as she felt the wet fingers run down her revealed stomach.
She had been enjoying her own pleasurements that she had not realized that Clarke had covered them enough to slip her own hand down her pants so that Lexa could see how ready she was.
Lexa had to admit she thanked whatever greater power existed that Clarke used to be a gymnast when she was younger because it gave her all sorts of flexibility.
It was Lexa who finally caved in to her desires. In the middle of a song as she turned to leave in which Clarke followed behind. With a tight grip she led them into the bathroom, checked the stalls before pushing the blonde up against the wall.
“Took you long enough.” Lexa took her lips as Clarke’s hands rummaged through her hair as their bodies tried to keep up with the lust that consumed them.
Clarke pulled away out of breath but when Lexa attempted to go in again she had denied her access. Lexa pulled back in confusion not understand what was happening.
“Let’s finish it back in my dorm.” Lexa only nodded as she followed her back out to the party then out the door.
Walking hand in hand still covered in glow paint they made their way over to her dorm which was a few blocks away.
“You know I really dig that glow paint on you.”
“Yeah well I know this pretty girl who did mine.”
“Oh really tell me about this pretty girl?” Clarke smiled up at her as Lexa only allowed her eyes to move and look down at her.
“See she has these captivating blue eyes that can mesmerize any soul and has beautiful blonde hair but only when she brushes it.” Lexa smiled softly upon hearing Clarke lightly slap her shoulder.
“Okay well, she has a way of making me go crazy and not think straight.”
“Do you want to feel sane?”
“I don’t think I’ll ever be sane again.”
“Why is that?”
“Because I can’t let her go.”
“And what if she isn’t the one for you?” Lexa had stopped them in their tracks grabbing both of Clarke’s hands to look her dead in the eye.
“I’d promise her that there is not a single possible way I could imagine a life without her angelic self.” Clarke pressed her lips against hers feeling the butterflies rise in her stomach as they always did when it came to Lexa.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“No Lexa, I’m in love with you.” Lexa only responded with another kiss before the two continued their walk. They stopped on occasions to make out against the wall as now their lust became laced with passion creating a new height in sexual tension for the two.
“Anything I want tonight?” Lexa nodded her head knowing they were still a few blocks away from her dorm still.
“You know we should roleplay.”
“Do you want to now?”
“Nah I have something better.” It was already late at night which meant most of the buildings on campus were closed but Clarke had found an entrance where she led the two into the building.
“Where are we going?”
“Shh.” Clarke checked the hallways to make sure they were all cleared. Getting the green light she found the double doors she was looking for where the coded door kept it locked. Punching in the numbers she knew she did not have to see Lexa to know she was rolling her eyes.
Swinging open the door Lexa’s nose was filled with the smell of chlorine. The whole building was in complete silence which made this room no different. They were here way after hours which meant the only noise came from the small movement of water.
“What are we doing here?”
She had not been to the pool here very much mostly because she did not have the time to come swim, even if it were for leisure. Getting a glimpse of the pool it seemed pretty shallow which she preferred.
Swiping her fingers in the water she found it surprising it was warm. Looking over to Clarke she had noticed the woman was already stripped down to her birthday suit causing the girl to swallow her large lump then bite her lips.
“You can have it.”
“At what cost?” Lexa was no silly girl as she knew the game Clarke had played with her so many times already. Everything came with a price and if she were going to make Clarke hers tonight it would be a hefty fine.
Clarke walked over kissing the woman who immediately fell into it as she lifted her hand to grab the body. However, Clarke grabbed the hands at the wrist and held them together in front of her prohibiting her access to her body.
“Ah I knew there was a price.” Lexa hummed as her favorite lips slowly pulled away.
“All you have to do is join me.” Quirking her eyebrows, her answer came as Clarke jumped into the water splashing the brunette.
“Are you crazy?”
“Crazy for you!” She shouted as she began to do the backstroke in the water. Lexa watched for a few minutes debating on the sanity of Clarke’s action. It seemed like a wonderful idea but she wasn’t normally the type to do anything out of her comfort zone.
“I think you are drunk enough Clarke. Come out.”
“I thought we had a deal?”
“I said bed.” Lexa remembered her words specifically as she did not recall the use of a pool.
“My definition of bed will make your body feel like an ocean.” Well, if she wasn’t fucked before she sure was now as her legs struggled to stay on its own.
Clarke swam to the edge of the pool where she placed her arms outside after wiping the hair out of her face. Now Lexa had not seen many movies but this felt as if she were in one the way the blonde had managed to sexualize the movement.
“The water is warm Lex.” Lexa intensely watched the girl let her tongue dance on her lips. This most definitely was out of her comfort zone but with Clarke she would do anything.
“You’re trouble Griffin.” Rolling her eyes she followed her actions and jumped into the water feeling her entire body shake at the cold water. It had felt better before but now completely immersed everything inside her felt itself ice up.
“Oh my god! You actually did it!” Clarke swam over to where Lexa had jumped in complete bliss her girlfriend had caved in.
A loud groan came in response eliciting more laughter from the blonde. Clarke had noticed her starting to shake so she pulled Lexa closer wrapping her legs around her waist. The sudden contact made her insides suddenly heat up with thoughts already filling her mind.
“Let me warm you up.” Clarke kissed her lips before they became blue. Suddenly all desires from earlier came rushing back as Clarke could not control it any long but let her hand immediately look to please her lover.
The couple would not catch a break though. As Clarke began to work her magic under the water the sound of a door opened and the two girls pulled away knowing they were screwed.
“Fuck.” Lexa hissed as they swam to where their clothing was. Clarke jumped out first grabbing a towel she had found and throwing the second one to Lexa who was right behind her.
“Hey! Who is there?” There was no time to put on their clothes in which Clarke grabbed the handful of it and began to make her way towards the door.
“Clarke.”
“We don’t have time just grab it and go Lex.” Clarke couldn’t help but laugh as the girl shook her head not believing what was happening.
“Stop right there!” The security guard must have called out again but Clarke and Lexa were now running out the door gripping the towels to their bodies.
The trail of water allowed the guard to follow them only to slip into their puddled mess. It was the large man falling on his ass to finally get Lexa to loosen up as she laughed while running.
Once outside the building the two took a second to breathe continuing their laughter.
“Clarke this is crazy! We need to put our clothes on!”
“They are going to come off anyway. Just put on your shoes my room is literally down the street.”
Groaning she followed the girl mumbling, “But I like undressing you.”
They did get a few glares here and there especially once inside the building. The resident assistant looked the girls up and down questioning if they were alright.
Clarke spoke for them both quickly dragging a red Lexa along as she knew how embarrassed she already was. Upon opening the door to her room Clarke quickly dropped her towel and turned towards Lexa.
“Just like that?”
“Yes, stop asking questions. I’m fucking horny Lexa let’s just do this already before something else interrupts us.” Just before she could capture her lips of course the door swung open, revealing her wonderful annoying, roommate.
“RAVEN! We had a deal” Clarke screamed as the girl laughed covering her eyes to make it to her side of the room.
“I know sorry, I just need a book. Happy fucking!” Raven made her way out of the room as Lexa watched the girl get angry at her roommate.
Once the door had slammed shut Lexa had never seen such anger snap into complete lust.
“You.” Clarke pointed at the girl then to her bed. “Get on the fucking bed now.”
Despite all the interruptions of their fun night Lexa had to admit it was definitely some of the best sex they had ever had.
“Can I get you anything Mrs. Woods?” Lexa looked up to the nurse standing in the doorway.
“You can call me Lexa, Bree. And no thank you.” Bree had made her way fully into the room now where she checked on Clarke’s vitals like every other night.
“That was a wonderful story.”
“Which one? The one I read to my child or my wife.” Bree laughed in response changing the bag of IV.
“Is Dr. Griffin really that crazy?”
“Clarke is something else. I think her adventurous side comes out more with people she is comfortable with.” Lexa fondled with her fingers reminiscing of their college days where their most stressful moments were passing a class.
“The children miss her.” Raising her eyebrow she did not understand which children she had been talking about.
“Well, her patients. Clarke always made close relationships with her patients who don’t have visitors.” Hearing what she does for people always inspired her to want to be better.
“Your love for her gives me hope.”
“It’s hard to have some.”
“Well you have thousands of people who will do it for you.” Finishing up Bree threw the dirty gloves into the garbage can. “Do you need help getting back up?”
“I can make it on my own, thank you.”
She knew Lexa would not go back to her room as she heard her begin another story. Giving a tight smile to the woman before she left she responded, “Goodnight.”
Sure enough the woman had fallen asleep holding on tightly to her lover’s hand.
------
Today was just like any other day. Clarke remained unchanging as Lexa mindlessly flipped through the channels hoping to find something intriguing.
Her mind roamed to her child recalling the last talk with the doctor. He had informed Lexa that as long as Clarke's body continued what it was doing then the baby would be okay.
There had been worries of what if Clarke never awoke, what would happen with the child or how it would be even born.
Abby had spent a lot of time helping to explain different possibilities of what could happen and the outcome for both parties. Lexa had to admit she was fearful of most them.
The child had become a major priority in her head now. Already names had been flowing through her head hoping her end of the deal would be upheld if it were a boy.
It was midday when Octavia strolled into the room with flowers in hand.
“I think we can open a florist shop in here.” The younger one spoke placing it along with the others.
“Clarke is a loved woman.”
“She only deeply loves one person.” Lexa responded with a tight smile still holding onto her wife’s hand.
“We know we haven't discussed too much about you two sneaking off and getting married but why did you do it Lexa?”
“It was complicated.”
“Is that all we will ever know?”
“Clarke will tell you. I'm just not in the mood to talk.”
Octavia understood letting the subject drop for now. Instead she decided to clean Clarke up by brushing her hair, fixing her nails, and make her not look like death.
Most of the evening had gone uneventful until an argument came around. Octavia and Lexa had been going off on what to do with the child.
Lexa could not believe she was even putting an opinion but she claimed she was speaking on Clarke's behalf.
“No, Clarke would want them to be normal and go to public school.”
“Private schools are normal!” Lexa almost screeched as she leant on her cane.
“No a bunch of rich snobby people go to them.”
“So what if our child grows up rich doesn't mean they'll be snobby!”
“You can't know that.”
“Clarke would have-” Lexa had turned around to point the blonde but quickly whipped her head back when she noticed it.
The blue eyes. Her favorite blue eyes that she had missed so dearly were looking back at her for the first time in what felt like ages.
There she was looking up at her with so much pain she had never seen someone so vulnerable as her eyes seemed to cry for help.
“Clarke.” The words rolled off her tongue in astonishment as Octavia ran out the door to get a doctor stumbling on her own feet.
“Clarke.” The words spoken again came out with more affirmation as she quickly stroked the blonde hair feeling tears roll down her face.
The woman grumbled something which put Lexa into action as she helped the girl sit up. The blonde carefully examined her trying to wrap her head around where she was.
Without thinking Lexa enveloped the girl into a hug afraid to ever let go but feeling the girl tense below she quickly moved away not wanting her to be overwhelmed. Lexa’s palm rested against her cheek in which the other responded with more tense of a body.
Clarke blinked multiple times feeling her body ache and sore. It felt as if she had no control over her own limbs trying to sit up properly. Her head pounded uncontrollably which did not help her try to understand. She had no idea what was was going on or how she got here.
Managing to find the right words she gathered enough strength to ask the question, “Who are you?”
All she knew was that the woman in front of her was a complete stranger.
