I know that not everyone is a big fan of zombie apocalypse but trust me, the story will not be about survival only. If you've read my stuff, you know how messy my books get xd

-I want to talk to you., said the smaller girl.

-I’m listening?, replied Enid, not sure where this was going.

-You may be their leader but that does not mean that I will be following your orders blindly., stated Wednesday firmly.

-I don’t expect you to. I want you to have your own opinion on what’s right or wrong., shrugged the blonde.

-Good. You’re not superior here., shrugged the smaller girl.

-You really do have issues with people with authority. Did some authoritative figure ever traumatize you or something?, asked Enid plainly.

-Right, cause I will definitely share my life story with a stranger I just fucking met., scoffed Wednesday.

-Why do you hate me so much?, wondered the blonde, getting up and now standing in front of Wednesday.

-You’re so insufferable. It’s infuriating how annoying you., replied the smaller girl.

-How am I annoying?, asked Enid, wanting an answer.

-You just are., shrugged Wednesday.

-No. I want a reason., replied the blonde with a frown.

-I don’t have to give you a reason., replied the smaller girl.

-You-, started Enid but she was interrupted by Yoko.

-Is now a good time?, asked Yoko, not sure what was happening between the two but also knowing it was nothing good.

Enid took a deep breath and looked at Yoko, waiting for her to tell her what she needed.

-Here. I wrote a little list on what we’re lacking. There’s also medical stuff on there from Bianca. We made the list together., said the best friend as she handed her a piece of paper.

Enid looked through it and then nodded, looking back at her best friend.

-Thank you, Yoko. We will try to get everything from this list., nodded Enid.

Yoko nodded back and then excused herself, not liking the tension between the two girls. Wednesday then looked around, speaking again.

-We need to leave soon if we want to be back by sundown., stated the older girl.

-Mhm. Go get your stuff ready. I’ll wait for the rest of the lists. Just bring me my duffel bag please. It’s empty.,, replied Enid, seemingly having calmed down.

Wednesday nodded at that and walked away, going back inside the house and gathering some stuff, packing it inside her backpack. She then grabbed the blonde’s empty duffel bag and joined her back outside, ready to leave. Enid was looking through yet another list when Wednesday showed up in front of her.

-We need a place where we can get a few tools, gardening stuff such as seeds and also medical supplies. And possibly books for Amy., said the blonde, looking up at Wednesday.

-There’s a home depot near here with a police station next to it. There will defiantly be everything. Handy tools, gardening tools and books at home depot and then medical supplies at the police station., suggested Wednesday, looking back at her.

-I don’t think that home depot sells books., frowned the blonde.

-They do. Not school books but gardening books and whatever. She will need that more than how to learn calculus or something., shrugged the smaller girl.

-I guess that is true. But we will need to loot another place eventually. I still want her to get a proper education., said Enid seriously.

-Yeah, yeah. For now, I’m sure your friend can think of a few exercises to do with the kid. Math and grammar should suffice. Maybe some biology since we’re surrounded by nature., shrugged Wednesday.

-I suppose you’re right., nodded the blonde.

-I know. Now, let’s go. I’ll drive., said Wednesday as she walked to their cars.

Enid was about to ask what car Wednesday wanted to take when the smaller girl opened the door to the pickup truck. I mean, it had the most space in the back for loot. She wasn’t wrong for choosing it. But again, seeing such a small person driving such a big car was simply funny. Enid got in without saying a word though. She had her gun in her holster, a pocket knife in her back pocket and a flashlight as well. She made sure that Wednesday hadn’t forgotten about her duffel bag before closing the door.

-Alright. Let’s leave., said Enid.

Wednesday didn’t reply. She simply drove off and through the gate. That is when Enid realized.

-Wait, how does this gate open? I didn’t see you press a remote or anything., wondered the blonde.

-The camera scans my face., shrugged the smaller girl, driving through the forest now.

Enid looked at her, surprised by that.

-Well, we should definitely add more faces to that setting, don’t you think?, asked the blonde.

-I guess., shrugged Wednesday, her eyes on the road.

-We’ll do that once we’re back., nodded Enid, leaning back against her seat and looking around.

Wednesday continued to drive in silence, making her way out of the forest and onto the road leading to the nature, finally reaching a path made out of concrete. She followed the same road for a bit until she pulled out and entered a town. It was seemingly a small town, around 80 houses? Enid made sure to remember the way back, just in case something happened to Wednesday. Once again, they could see infected people wandering around, looking for trouble. And as always, abandoned cars and trucks. That is when Enid noticed something.

-Wait, look., said Enid, pointing at something.

A yellow bus. A yellow school bus.

-What about it?, questioned Wednesday.

-I can see a backpack inside. We should check the bus for any books and supplies for Amy., said the blonde.

-We’ll do so on our way back., replied Wednesday.

-What? Why?, frowned Enid, looking at Wednesday now.

-Because it’ll be darker and we won’t be as exposed in middle of the street., replied the smaller girl, as if it should have been obvious.

-I guess., nodded the younger girl.

-Weren’t you taught how to strategize when you joined the army?, asked Wednesday with a scoff.

-I mean, yeah. But it’s different. And in the marines, you’re mostly just taught how to follow orders and how to fight and survive., shrugged Enid, looking out the window now.

-Hm. I see., replied Wednesday.

Enid had expected some sort of sassy reply or for Wednesday to mock but…nothing? Okay then. Wednesday then pulled into a parking lot, driving up to the home depot building, right next to the police station as Wednesday had said. The two got out and Wednesday locked the car.
