Wednesday lead them out of the urban area, reaching a highway. There were countless of cars just standing there, on the highway, left abandoned by their owners. Some of those cars were seriously damaged, having been in accidents. They could see some smoke and fire, probably an engine that had caught fire after getting hit. Wednesday guided them through the crowded street, luckily finding a path that let them through without having to move any of those abandoned vehicles. Naturally, they encountered numerous zombies, if that’s what you’d want to call them. Some were gathered around a few corpses while others were still running around, chasing animals and humans around. As much as the group wanted to help those in danger, they knew that there was no way they’d get out of it alive if they made a stop on that highway.

Eventually, Wednesday drove out a path to a more secluded area. Nature started to show. A lot more tree and just greenery in general. No human, no zombie and no vehicles in site.

-How long until we’re there?, asked Ajax through the radio.

It took Wednesday a second to reply.

-15 minutes., said the smaller girl simply.

The street out of concrete quickly turned into a pathway out of dirt, stones and sand. Enid made sure to memorize the way. She knew that she’d want to go back to the city eventually to loot. Especially for food. She didn’t want to go now, since she knew that everyone and their mother was rushing to supermarkets and malls to get supplies. Enid was planning on going somewhere that not everyone would think of looting. Food suppliers. So, butchers and farms and distributers with huge warehouses stocked with food, ready to be delivered to supermarkets and restaurants. People were so focused on where the final products would be that they would forget about where those things are stored away or produced.

Suddenly, Wednesday stopped the car in front of a gate. Enid looked around, seeing that the gate went all the way around a pretty big house in the middle of nowhere. The gate suddenly opened, Wednesday driving in and parking the car near the house. Enid and Ajax just followed behind her, parking their vehicles next to the cop car. Wednesday got out and walked up to the door of her house, giving in a code and unlocking the door. She then opened the garage door and walked back to the car.

-Supplies will be stored in the garage., said the smaller girl.

-How is the garage still working? I mean, the electricity in most places has stopped working., asked Enid with a frown.

-I have multiple solar panels on the rooftop and I also have a hydroelectric generator by a little rive near the house., shrugged Wednesday.

Enid raised her eyebrows. She would never admit it but she was impressed by all of it. While the two locked eyes for a second too long, the others got to work and started unpacking the cars. The blonde quickly shook her head and started giving the others a hand. They organized the supplies in the garage, storing them away in shelves and closets. Enid then brought out the box that they had found at the elderly neighbor’s place.

-Wednesday, where can I put this?, asked the blonde.

Instead of replying, Wednesday walked into the garage and opened a trap door that lead to another little room if you went down the stairs.

-Weapons will be stored in here., said the smaller girl as she grabbed the bow and the arrows.

-We should keep at least two guns upstairs. In case someone would make it past the gate., said Yoko with a frown.

-You mean the gate that will send more than 150 volts through anyone body once in contact? I think we’ll be fine., replied Wednesday with a shrug.

Enid started panicking when she heard that.

-Where’s the girl? Where is the little girl?, asked the blonde quickly.

Everyone started looking around, not seeing her. Until Eugene spotted her.

-Over there. By that pond. With Buddy., said the boy.

Enid sighed in relief and looked at Bianca.

-Okay, can you keep an eye on her?, asked Enid desperately.

-Yeah. Yeah, I’ll keep an eye on her., nodded the girl, walking towards the kid and the dog.

Once everything was in the garage, they called Bianca and the girl back so Wednesday could show them around the house.

-How many bedrooms?, asked Ajax, looking around.

-Three rooms. One kingsized bed. Two queen sized beds. One of those also has a smaller bed. Those are the guest rooms. I’ll be taking my usual bedroom with the kingsized bed., stated Wednesday with a shrug.

-Cool. I’ll uhm, I’ll share the room with Eugene since we’re the only boys., nodded Ajax instantly.

Bianca turned to Yoko who instantly nodded.

-I’ll share a room with Bianca and Amy., stated Yoko quickly.

Well shit. Wednesday rolled her eyes and then looked at Enid.

-Oh don’t worry, I’m not too happy about this either., said the blonde with a scoff.

-Whatever. At least we have the big bed so you stay far away on your side., replied Wednesday as she walked away.

Enid grabbed her duffel bag and sighed, slightly glaring at Yoko for abandoning her before following Wednesday to their shared bedroom. Once she stepped inside, she raised her eyebrows.

-Woah., said the blonde, looking at the weirdly cozy bedroom with a modern aesthetic, even if they were in the middle of a forest.

-This closet in mine. You use that one., said Wednesday as she walked into a smaller part of the room.

Fancy closet. Enid then turned around and saw the smaller closet that Wednesday had just assigned to her. She didn’t really care, simply shoving her duffel bag in before closing the door again.

-So, we should make something for dinner, don’t you think?, asked the blonde.

-You don’t look like you can cook., stated the smaller girl from inside her closet room.

-You don’t look like you could hot wire a car. Now here we are., shrugged Enid.

Wednesday walked out, wearing sweatpants and a sports bra, a hood in her hand. The blonde’s eyes went wide, immediately looking away and clearing her throat.

-So you’re saying you can cook?, asked the smaller girl, watching Enid.

-No. I can’t., replied Enid, not having the energy or self control to find any snarky comeback and pretending like a painting on the wall was the most mesmerizing thing in the room.

-That’s what I thought., nodded Wednesday as she walked past Enid, her hoodie now on.

The smaller girl walked out of the bathroom, making her way downstairs to her well equipped kitchen. Perks of being rich and famous, hm? Everyone started gathering around, setting the table and helping Wednesday in the kitchen. Except for Enid. She was laying on her new bed, staring at the ceiling. How the fuck is she gonna survive spending her days and now also nights with Wednesday? She was driving her insane! She wasn’t sure if she wanted to punch her or- Anyways. Enid got up and joined the others for dinner.
