Enid woke up to a door shutting. She sat up instantly, needing a second to remember where she was.

-Honey, I’m home!, joked Yoko from the living room.

Ah right. She’s at Yoko’s. She couldn’t help but smile when she heard her best friend’s voice. She got up and rushed to the living room, tackling the younger girl into a tight hug. Yoko yelped but hugged her back after recovering.

-Hello to you too, E., chuckled Yoko as Enid buried her face into her shoulder.

-I miss you., replied Enid, her voice muffled.

-I miss you too. So much., said the other girl.

Enid pulled away to look up at her with a wide grin. Yoko chuckled at the sight.

-I missed my favorite golden retriever., joked the brunette.

-Well, I missed my favorite black cat., shrugged Enid, not letting her go.

-How was your trip? Everything went smoothly?, wondered Yoko as she inched closer to the couch, trying to sit down.

-Yeah, yeah. Now spill. I wanna hear everything about your stupid ex. And you know, give me the address and I’ll make sure that-, started Enid.

-You’re not killing anyone. Now let me go. That’s enough hugging for like 3 years., said the girl.

Enid rolled her eyes playfully but she let her go, sitting down on the couch. Yoko joined her and sighed.

-You’re going to freak out on me., said the girl.

-What? What do you mean?, frowned Enid, sitting up to look at her best friend.

-I broke up with Xavier for a good reason., admitted Yoko.

-Did he hurt you? Because I swear I will kill him for you. I’ll make it look like an accident., said the blonde.

-Just shut up and listen. It’s not easy to say. Out loud., continued Yoko, avoiding her best friend’s gaze.

-Okay, now I’m worried. Spill., replied Enid with a frown.

Yoko shifted uncomfortably and took a deep breath.

-I met someone else., confessed Yoko.

Enid raised her eyebrows, not having expected that to be the reason behind her breakup. She kept quiet, wanting to let Yoko elaborate.

-We met through me job. We were both working on a client, me as a photographer and her as a makeup artist., said the younger girl.

Enid just listened intently, not realizing it at first. Yoko just looked at her, giving her a second to think. Suddenly, the blonde’s eyes went wide and she started to grin.

-You said her! You’re fruity! I knew you! I goddamn told you!, started Enid as she started bouncing on the couch.

-Keep it down, we’re in an apartment, idiot., chuckled Yoko.

Enid tried to contain her excitement.

-I can’t help it. I’ve been waiting for this., replied the blonde.

-Yeah, yeah. I’m aware. Ever since you were convinced that I had a crush on Olivia when we were 14. And unfortunately, I think you were right., confessed the younger girl.

-Hell yeah, I was. Okay, tell me everything. What’s her name? What’s her personality like? All of it., grinned Enid.

-I will not. She doesn’t know that I like her like that. We’ve just been keeping in touch. Plus, I’m working with her again tomorrow. Oh, by the way, can you believe it? I get to photograph Wednesday Addams tomorrow! She refuses to be in any sort of photoshoot but agreed to this one as she had seen my previous work!, started Yoko, clearly excited about.

-No clue who that is, but that’s awesome Yoko., smiled Enid.

-You really do live under a rock., sighed the younger girl.

-Well, I couldn’t really keep up with pop culture, could I?, chuckled the blonde.

-True. Fair enough. Well, Wednesday Addams is a famous writer and movie director. She’s releasing a movie later this year and therefore is starting to do some promo for it. She gives zero fucks about what other people think of her, which I admire. She has this really cool attitude. Ugh. I wish you could meet her., smiled Yoko.

-She sounds cool, yeah. I’m happy that you get to work with her, Yok., replied Enid, clearly proud of her best friend’s accomplishments.

Yoko then got up and grabbed her phone.

-Alright. I’m ordering us some pizzas, we’ll watch a movie directed by Miss Addams and then we’ll go to sleep. I have to get up early tomorrow for the shoot., stated Yoko with a smile.

-Okay, okay. Also, Buddy doesn’t like me. He keeps looking at me weirdly., chuckled Enid as she looked at the dog.

-I think he’s just confused because he knows your voice from over the phone and he sees you as a person. Give him some time., shrugged Yoko as she walked away.

Enid watched her walk away and then sat down on the floor, just looking at the dog. She was holding onto her self-control as she desperately wanted to pet the dog that was looking at her with big eyes.

The blonde eventually just grabbed the TV remote and turned it on. It was on the news channel. ‘A man attacked a woman, biting her in the shoulder.’ Enid sighed at that, hating the world they lived in. But then the reporter spoke, catching the blonde’s attention.

-A man in Missouri bit a woman in the shoulder. He ripped her flesh off. He had to be shot 6 times both in the chest and head to stop him from attacking more people. The woman was rushed to the hospital as the medics did their best to take care of her shoulder. A few hours later, the woman behaved just like a man, trying to attack the nurses. She had to be chained down to the bed. The doctors think that we’re looking at some sort of rare rabies., said a man, standing in front of a hospital.

-Sounds like zombie behavior to me., said Yoko, standing next to Enid now.

Enid rolled her eyes and looked up at her friend.

-Right. And Santa Claus also exist., chuckled the blonde.

-I’m just saying., shrugged the younger girl as she sat down on the couch.

-You’ve been waiting for an apocalypse to happen even since you watched that one Hulu show. Freakish?, said Enid with a sigh.

-Oh yeah! With Liza Koshy. And that dude from Kickin’ it. Leo Howard., nodded Yoko as she remembered.

-Yeah. You made me watch it twice. And you cried when it was canceled., reminded Enid with a chuckle.

-It was left on a cliffhanger., pouted the younger girl.

-Oh, I remember. Anyways, that was a show, Yoko. Zombies do not exist. Now, when are the pizzas arriving?, replied the blonde as she leaned back against the couch.

The food eventually arrived, so the girls ate in front of the TV and watched Wednesday Addams’ movie. Enid objectively found it quite good, liking the dark twists of it. After finishing the movie, Enid went to take a shower and then went to bed. She quickly checked the news, the man biting the woman still on her mind. She looked for similar cases. A few appeared. She sighed, hoping that there was no new pandemic coming their way. Little did she know.
