Summary
Ron has never been the daughter Molly wanted. No matter how much he tried, however hard he willed himself to be a girl, into dolls and like frills and dresses, he couldn't, he now knows he never was a girl but at the time he didn't; at the time he thought he was going insane for not feeling like a girl, to him, something was wrong with him.
Note
This is a (kinda) cannon compliant fic, so I will try my best to make minimal changes to the story (but not sorry). Sorry if you cry, I sure did :) (also I don't know where this fic will go rn) also yes, the title is a TV Girl reference

OMG, I HATE my Gender

“Mummy, why am I a girl?” Little Ron asks. He is still so far from the truth, yet so close at the same time.

Molly was still so unable to comprehend her ‘daughters’ transgenderism, replying with, “What kind of question is that Veronica?” the little ‘girl’ flinches hearing ‘her’ name, “You're a girl because you were born a girl,” the mother tries to explain.

“But I don’t feel like a girl,” Ron replies. In his mind, he was a boy, but it was hazy.

“My darling, of course you’re a girl, my lovely only girl. You’ll understand when you're older,” ‘her’ mother says.

But as years passed, and Hogwarts was getting closer, Ron felt no more like a girl. It got to a point where Ron himself had begun to question his own sanity.

It was June 28, 1990, Ron was ten, and he couldn’t keep it to himself anymore. “Fred, George, can I talk to you?” asks the little ten year old.

“Sure, what's on your mind?” His older brothers reply.

“I think I’m a boy,” says Ron.

The twin’s faces light up. George shouts out the window, “Bill, Charlie, you owe us each seven sickles!”

Ron looks up, confused, “You’re not mad?” he asks.

“No? Why would we be? A) One of our best friends is trans; B) We've had a bet going for years about it; and C) you can’t control it,” says Fred.

“Well thanks for that. Honestly I’m relieved, that gives me more confidence to tell our parents, so there's no trouble at Hogwarts,” Ron says.

“NO!” They both say suddenly.

Fred elaborates, “We just mean, we can tell all of our siblings, to make sure that mum doesn’t find out before she can take it. She’s really attached to having you as a daughter. Don’t tell her, not yet.” That was the first time Ron saw the twins with genuine fear in their eyes. Molly had always been a kind woman, but if there was one thing she held dear to her was her ‘daughter’, and she would not give ‘her’ up.

Ginny was never Gregory, the two names may be for the same body, but not the same person. Ginny was always a girl, and Gregory did not fit her girlness. She was always a daughter, but no matter how many times she told her mum, she was never believed. Her mother would say, “My darling boy, I have one daughter, and her name is Veronica, my darling Gregory, you’re being silly.” That really hurt Ginny. Ginny also knew deep down that ‘Veronica’ was not a girl at all, that he was actually Ron. But unlike Ron, Ginny told Charlie first, not the twins, although her conversation with Charlie went similarly.

***

All the weasley siblings gathered in Ron’s room in the attic after these conversations, the meeting being set up by Charlie, and the topic introduced by the twins, and Percy wrote the whole thing down as follows:

BILL: Peirce, I love ya, but why are you writing down the meeting again?

PERCY: So we can look back on what we said as talking points for our parents.

RON: Why do we need talking points for our parents?

GINNY: Yeah, why are we here? Also what was the bet you were talking about earlier?

FRED: And that is a great segway into our introduction, George, would you like to do the honors?

GEORGE: I would love to. Today we are going to discuss how to tell our parents that both, what are you each going by again?

RON: Ron.

GINNY: Ginny

GEORGE: Thanks. That both Ron and Ginny are trans.

GINNY: What does trans mean?

FRED: Great question Ginny, trans means that, say, you were born a boy, like you were, but don’t feel like a boy, you instead feel like a girl, and vice versa as in Ron’s case.

RON: So basically your body doesn’t fit your brain?

BILL: Bingo.

GINNY: What’s bingo?

BILL: A muggle game some of my friends taught me.

PERCY: Can we get on with it?

CHARLIE: Yes, we can, so how do we tell Mum and Dad?

BILL: I think Dad will be easy, Mum might be harder, because it might be harder for her to give up her quote unquote daughter. Any ideas?

PERCY: Since I’m the smartest sibling here.

EVERYONE: Hey!

PERCY: I have an idea.

CHARLIE: Then get on with it!

PERCY: Anyways, I think we should tell Mum together, all back each other up, there’s power in numbers and if we make a convincing argument, there will be no issues at Hogwarts.

FRED: That sounds like a good plan, all those in favor say I!

RON: Why though?

GEORGE: Just do it.

EVERYONE: I.
