Chapter 5
It was a quite couple of days. Mel was spending it reading while Kira took Joshua shopping.
“All this stuff seems expensive…” Joshua said, walking through Angel Grove Mall with about three bags in each hand.
“You need your own wardrobe, you can’t keep living in my things…”
“Yeah… Stil… We’ve spent almost $300…”
“Alex must not have explained inflation to you… did he…”
Suddenly, Joshua heard something.
“Oh no…”
“What?”
“They’re here… those things, they’re here!”
“Joshua… calm down. You’re safe here.”
“But… I heard the hissing noise they made…”
“Take a deep breath… you were probably hearing things…”
The boy did so.
“Do you still hear it?”
“No…”
“Okay then. Probably the Air conditioning kicking in…”
“Maybe you’re right… Okay…”
The two began walking.
“So… um… if you don’t mind me asking… You and Kelly… you two seem quite close…”
The Pink Ranger smiled and shook her head.
“Yeah, we’re very close. We’re in love… we plan to get married one day…”
“But you’re… both…”
“It’s normal around here.”
“This place just seems to be stranger and stranger.”
Suddenly, the glass above their heads shattered and a figure fell into their presence.
“Kikikikikiki…” It said.
“I was right… It’s one of the monsters…” Joshua screamed.
“Get behind me…” Kira said, jumping in front of him with her Dragonizer out.
She looked at the thing that had just fallen in, and there was one thing obvious to her, it wasn’t a Ferrox. It was purple, covered in yellow spikes and a yellow bit of armor on it’s chest. The strangest thing was its head. It looked like a wizard hat, also purple, but the top turned into a bent broomstick. It was even wearing a purple cape.
“Who are you?” She asked it, “Can you speak?”
“Kikikiki… Kikiki… kiki… kikikiki…”
“Take that as a no…”
The being raised its hands, and a blast of electrical energy shot out. Kira grabbed Joshua and shoved him, ducking to the ground when the shot flew over their head and blew out the windows of the Hot Topic behind them.
“Must not like Punk…” Kira said, as she got to her feet.
Kelly, Thom, Greggory and Marvin came running in.
“Where’s Alex…?” Joshua asked
“Don’t know, we don’t need him right now.” Kelly said.
“What is that…” Thom asked.
“It’s not a Ferrox…” Greg answered
“How do you know that?” Kelly asked
“We’ve been fighting them for two and a half years…” The brit snapped back “we know what they look like…”
“Could be from a different nest or something… Point is, less talking, more fighting…”
The five morphed and charged at it.
“We have to get it outside…” Kelly ordered the others
“No shit, Sis…” Marvin responded.
The creature swung its hand out again and another blast shot out, this time of fire.
“That’s not good.” Kira yelled, the flames shooting between her and Thom.
The five grabbed hold of the monster and began pushing it towards the exit.
“Kikiki… ki…kiki…kiki…” They heard.
A green flash emanated from its body and roots shot up from the ground, grabbing their feet.
“What the bloody hell?” Greg yelled. The roots climbed up their bodies and held tight, beginning to squeeze.
“Where’s Alex?” Kira asked again.
“We don’t need him… I’ve… got this…”
She groaned and strained, but her suit’s fire powers began to activate and she burned through and burst out of the roots. She shot at the enemy, knocking it back slightly, before summoning her Fang Sword and cutting the others loose.
The rest of the group summoned their personal weapons, gathering behind Kira and her Wing Shield.
The creature glowed blue, and a jet of water shot from it’s hands, throwing Kira into Thom and Kelly and knocking the team all to the ground.
The team got back up to their feet and looked around. The creature was gone.
“Coward…” Kelly muttered…
They demorphed.
“Joshua, did you see what happened?” Greg asked the boy, having been hiding behind a planter…
“It just vanished… like… it turned into a small ball of light and flew off…”
Kelly’s phone started to ring.
“Oh, look who it is…” She started but her tone changed. “Oh… um… oh… I… I didn’t know… he… okay, we’ll meet you and Mr. Hartford back at base…”
“What was that, where was Alex?” Thom asked.
“He was at Central Hospital with Mr. Hartford… Mr. Collins just died of a stroke…”
