“When we started this program… we were so sure we’d be able to welcome our sons back…” Hartford said as the pair walked out and headed toward’s Alex’s truck “First Spencer, now Albert…”
“And now Bio-tech’s board is going to be on our cases…”
“Well, there’s some good news…” Hartford said “It looks like he named me trustee of his estate with you as a backup, until we succeed.”
“If we succeed…” Alex said. “The Grid Gate Is almost ready and 114 is… well… being difficult.”
“I was expecting that… Did you tell him the truth?”
“That is most likely a one-way trip? Yeah. He was none to pleased…”
“He’s the best chance we’ve got to navigate the Grid.”
“Considering that’s due to original Alpha 6 being the only one we know to have entered the Morphing Grid and come back out and not have disappeared on R Day… not a lot of other candidates.”
“I know… I know… thankfully we can make as many copies of him as we need…”
“I would love someone to explain how he… or what’s left of him, was the only thing left… Every thing else vanished. Every ranger, every weapon, every zord… Even beings like Ninjor and who know, maybe even the Morphin Masters… no one has seen them in a decade…”
“They usually kept to themselves…”
“I know… I know…”
“I mean, what sets my truck apart from, say, the Dragojets?”
“It’s seen better days?”
“It’s a classic…”
“It’s a hummer… a V1 hummer…”
The climbed in a drove back to the ranger’s HQ. Alex switched on the radio…
“… reports are coming in of a monster attack at Angle Grove Mall. The Dragon Force did respond however the creature is reported to have escaped. Eyewitness reports say the creature was NOT a Ferrox and is the first traditional monster sighting in Angel Grove in nearly a decade…”
Alex slammed on the brakes.
“Woah… hold on…” Hartford told him
“No… Look…” Alex said, poiting in front of him.
Standing in the road was a creature.
“Kikiki… ki…ki…ki….”
It held up its hands and fired towards them. The two men jumped out of the truck and hit the pavement hard. They got up and saw both the monster and the truck were gone.
“Did you see that?” Hartford asked.
“No… I was asleep…” Alex retorted sarcastically.
“It looked… It looked like Mesagog…”
“I don’t remember any file photos of Mesagog being red with bones on the rest of his torso…”
“He could have changed.”
“Why come back 30 years later?”
“I don’t know… It’s what it looked like…”
“Look…” Alex sighed “do want to call for a company car or should I just get an Uber?”
“What the hell happened to you two?” Kelly asked as the two men walked into the base.
“Attacked…”
“By Ferrox…?”
“No… by some… monster…”
“You saw it two?” Thom asked.
“Oh, right… yeah… Red… with like a bone pattern on the body?”
“What?” Kelly asked “No… it was purple… with like, a wizard hat…”
“That’s not what we saw…”
“So, there’s TWO monsters running around? Great…” She huffed as she walked away.
“What’s got under her skin?” Alex asked
“No idea…” Thom said “We get a call there is something smashing around the mall parking lot, we rush over, find the thing attacking Kira and Joshua… It seemed to have it’s own elemental attacks.”
“Well, whatever Andrew and I delt with, it took my truck…”
“Oh… damn… we needed that…”
“No shit, sherlock…” Alex said, “Why didn’t you guys call me?”
“Kelly said she would, but seems like she never did… she said, like, we didn’t need you…”
Thom went on his way while Alex looked over at Kelly, checking on Kira.
“Oh, kiddo…. You need me a lot more than you realize…”
Somewhere, deep in the sewers below Angle Grove…
“Ki… kiki….ki…Kikiki…”
“Kiki….Kikikiki…ki….kikiki…”
“Kiki…”
