The Monster Within

“You can’t go in there [Y/N]!” Tony shouted, grabbing ahold of her arm as means of preventing her from going in, “If Thor can’t handle him what makes you think you can?”
“Because I’m probably the only one here he can touch and not suffer any damage!” [Y/N] snapped back in response.
“We don’t know if your healing abilities will work when it comes to a Frost Giant.” Bruce remarked, a frown settling on his already stressed face.
“I’m not afraid of him.” [Y/N] continued, pulling her arm free of Tony’s hold.
“If he does something to you I’ll kill him.” Natasha warned as the younger woman took hold of the door handle.
“Loki won’t hurt me.” She assured.
“She really does have too much faith in him.” Clint huffed as she shut the door.
The room was a wreck, the furniture was broken into pieces and scattered around the room leaving bits and pieces of destroyed items to be found everywhere she looked. Ruined objects weren’t the only thing that could be found everywhere she looked. There was ice covering nearly every surface, a testament to how badly Loki had lost his temper this time.
“Lady [Y/N] it is not safe please leave.” Thor said from a corner, bits of ice spots on the wall around him showing how Loki had tried to hit him.
“What’s the matter brother?” Loki sneered from his place across the room, “Afraid the little Midgardian will be too scared of the monster to continue the charade of love you forced her into?”
Gleaming red eyes turned on her, nothing but fury and disgust laying within those deep crimson pools as he stared at her. Loki stretched his blue arms wide and turned before looking at her with a look that told her he was expecting her to run.
“Hideous aren’t I?” He snapped, “Leave [Y/N], this is your only warning.”
“Please Lady [Y/N], do as he says.” Thor begged, holding his left forearm where Loki had apparently managed to hit him as frostbite began forming.
“I’m not going anywhere.” [Y/N] announced stubbornly, taking a step forward and flinching as a blast of ice hit her in the chest.
“No!” Thor shouted, a terrified look on his face.
“I told you to run you stupid little girl.” Loki hissed, “I don’t want you here! I don’t need you, I don’t need anyone!”
“Scream all you’d like. Hit me all you want.” [Y/N] said as she took another step forward, the ice on her chest gone, “I am not leaving you!”
Loki stood stunned, a ball of ice prepared in his hand as he stared at her. His moment of surprise was soon over however and he was relentlessly throwing ice at her.
“Loki stop!” Thor yelled, leaving his corner but fell to the ground as he was hit in the leg by ice.
[Y/N] walked slowly forward, flinching each time she was hit with ice but nothing was going to stop her from getting to him.
“If you come any closer I will kill you.” Loki warned, his voice a dangerous level of calm.
“Then kill me Loki.” [Y/N] said as she took another step, “But I’m not going to leave you.”
“Lady [Y/N] stop!” Thor bellowed.
“Why?” Loki choked out, his hands no longer forming ice but trembling.
“Because I love you.” [Y/N] answered with a reassuring smile as she finally reach him and put her hands on either side of his face, repressing her pain as she watched the frostbite overtake her hands.
“No [Y’N]!” Thor cried out, dropping his formalities as he tried to get to his feet.
“Enough Thor.” A new, calmer, voice interjected.
“Mother?” Thor gasped in surprise then regained himself, “Stop him!”
“It would seem this Midgardian woman has things under control.” Frigga responded, “You, however, are in need of medical attention.”
“But mother-“
“Come.” Frigga said, placing a gentle hand on her eldest son’s shoulder and giving her youngest child a sincere look before she and Thor were gone.
“Loki-“
“Do you honestly think I believe you?” Loki sneered, glaring down at her.
“Well you have yet to fulfill you promise of killing me so some part of you must believe me.” [Y/N] retorted.
“I am a monster, meant to be feared and never to know what love is!” He shouted but made no move to pull away from her, instead he gripped her tightly and allowed his frost to freeze her further.
“If you’re trying to scare me,” She said, continuing to suppress her pain as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug, “you’re going to have to try harder than that.”
“Why?” Loki questioned, his arms now around her and pulling her into a tight embrace as he buried his face in the crook of her neck, “Why won’t you run?”
“Because I love you Loki.” [Y/N] repeated, “I’m not afraid of you, I’m only afraid of losing you.”
She felt his shoulders shake as he cried and slowly he began shifting into his usual form. As he pulled away from her his emerald eyes widened in horror.
“[Y/N].” He whispered, running his fingers over her black and blue skin.
“It’ll fade, it just takes a few moments.” She assured him with a small smile.
“I could have killed you!” He snapped, unsure of whether he was more angry with himself or her.
“I knew you wouldn’t.”
“A monster doesn’t care who he hurts [Y/N].” Loki growled.
“Then why aren’t I dead?” She challenged.
“I-“ He began but was cut off when she pulled him down into a tender kiss.
“Because you’re not a monster.” [Y/N] finished.
