My Sweet
“We’ve got him this time!” Tony cheered through the earpiece.
“Don’t count your chickens before they hatch Tony.” Steve responded.
“You’re a kill join Cap.”
“If you ladies are done we have a villain to capture.” Clint huffed.
“Loki is not a villain he is-“
“Confused, yeah we know Thor.” Natasha cut in, rolling her eyes and continued to run up the stairs.
“Anyone know where [n/n] is?” Tony inquired.
“Just finished on floor thirty-nine.” [Y/N] answered, “The real question should be if anyone knows where Loki is.”
“Tony?” Steve asked.
“The heat signatures aren’t giving off any readings.” Tony grunted, “I don’t even know where Steve and Nat are.”
“Floor twenty-two.” Steve informed.
“Floor seventeen.” Nat answered.
“Well now I do, but you get the point.” Tony huffed, “There’s no way to locate Reindeer Games.”
“Lovely.” [Y/N] sighed, “I’m at floor forty now.”
“Be careful.” Clint warned.
Quietly [Y/N] exited the stairway and began searching through the fortieth floor in hopes of finding Loki. This floor appeared to be as deserted as the ones she had searched before it but she had a feeling this time was different.
“Looking for something?”
[Y/N] whirled around in time to see Loki before she was hit with a pulse of some kind. She landed twenty feet from where she was just standing and waited a moment, looking up at the crumbling ceiling as she took in the damage to her body.
“That hurt.” She muttered to herself.
“What happened?” Clint shouted causing her to remember she had the earpiece in.
“[Y/N] are you alright?” Nat followed up.
“I found Loki.” [Y/N] answered as she pushed herself up and glared [e/c] daggers at him.
“Keep him busy.” Tony urged.
“We’re on our way.” Steve assured.
“Loki!” Thor shouted and made [Y/N] flinch from the loud noise.
“Quite loud isn’t he, my oaf of a brother?” Loki commented as he began walking towards her.
She didn’t answer, there was no way she was going to say she agreed with him, and quickly got to her feet. He was ten feet from her now, looking at her with that analytical gaze he always had when she was around.
“It does always seem to be you and I who meet in these situations isn’t it?” Loki remarked.
“A coincidence I’m sure.” [Y/N] snapped back with sarcasm dripping in her words, after all it was always she and Loki who found one another whenever the Avengers managed to track him down.
The distance between them was becoming smaller as he began walking towards her once again.
“Why don’t you move little [Y/N]?” Loki taunted as the space between them reached four feet, “Could it be that you grow tired of fighting it as I have?”
“Fighting what?” [Y/N] asked in confusion and watched as he finally stopped moving once he was a foot from her.
“This.”
Loki reached out to her, tucking some of her fallen hair behind her ear before stroking her face and finally cupping her face. There was no ignoring the shiver that ran down her spine at the contact. He smiled, not his usual smile but something gentler. Never before had any of their encounters been this intimate and [Y/N] tried desperately to ignore the way her heart was pounding in her chest.
“You are someone of great importance to me.” He confessed as he leaned closer to her, “I know you feel it as well, less you would have killed me already.”
His lips were on hers then and she froze. Thin, cool, and smooth his lips lingered for a moment but as he pulled away her body acted on its own. Grabbing his shoulders and pulling him forward she brought their lips back together and reveled in the feeling. When they parted again that same tender smile was on his face as his gentle fingers once again stroked the side of her face.
“Until we meet again my sweet.” Loki murmured, pressing his lips to her forehead and the world went black.
