Into My Eyes
There he was again, staring at her and making her quickly avert her [e/c] gaze.
“Are you afraid of him or something?” Nat asked from beside her.
“No it’s nothing like that.” [Y/N] laughed halfheartedly.
“You always get so jumpy around him.” Clint pointed out from Nat’s other side.
“There are plenty of reasons to be jumpy around Loki.” Steve pointed out as he buttered a roll.
“Where are you going?” Tony called after [Y/N] as she left the table.
“I have a headache so I think I’m going to go lay down.” She called over her shoulder.
The moment she was safe within the confines of the elevator [Y/N] allowed herself to slide down the wall. She pulled her crystal necklace from its place beneath her shirt and stared at the stone. It was a comfort to her in confusing times, it made her feel as if her Gran were with her and helping her figure things out. To say the least Loki was certainly confusing.
She continued to stare at the gem, lost in its mysteries and was only pulled from her thoughts as the elevator lurched to a halt. [Y/N] tucked her necklace back under her shirt and stood up but was taken aback to see Loki standing in the elevator in front of her.
“L-Loki.” She stammered, eyes directed at the ground as she pressed herself into the wall.
“I have heard you mortals say that the eyes are the window to the soul.” He mused as his hands were suddenly on either side of her head and she could feel his stare burning into her, “Is that why you will not meet my gaze?”
She remained silent, the ability to speak alluding her as she listened to him continue.
“Do you fear what I might see?” Loki pondered, his lips at her ear as he finished, “Or are you afraid of what you might find in mine?”
“N-No!” [Y/N] quickly said, gaze shooting up and for the briefest moment their eyes met before she looked away once again, “I’m not afraid of you.”
“Then you are frightened of what I will find in your [e/c] eyes.” He said, pulling back so that he could look at her, “What secrets does the little Midgardian keep?”
Her face flushed a deep pink as thoughts of him flooded her mind. It was doubtful that he would be able to read her mind just by looking in her eyes but he would see the way her eyes brightened when she looked at him, as Tony had so kindly pointed out. He noticed the way her face reddened and wasn’t sure if he wanted to scowl or smirk.
“Which Avenger is it you harbor feelings for?” Loki taunted, unable to keep the bitterness from his tone.
“Not an Avenger.” [Y/N] stuttered, “Y-Y-You.”
“Me?” Loki said, a look of utter disbelief on his face as he stared down at her.
“You.” She confirmed with a nod though her eyes remained on the ground and she braced herself for the rejection that was to come.
“Then look into my soul my sweet.” Loki ordered gently, tucking his fingers under her chin and raising her head so that their eyes met at long last.
Her eyes brightened as his eyes burned with an intensity she had never known before. There was no cause for doubt, his emerald eyes showed her that, and [Y/N] lifted her head so that her lips met his for the briefest of moments before the elevator doors opened with a ‘ding’.
“What the hell?” Tony yelled.
Loki turned to glare daggers at the billionaire as everyone crowded around the elevator and saw the scene inside.
“Interesting.” Nat remarked with a smirk.
“Lady [Y/N] there is no other but you I would want for a sister-in-law!” Thor shouted happily.
“Thor!” Loki hissed threateningly but it was too late, [Y/N] had fainted from all the embarrassment.
