Campfire
“This is nice.” Bruce said with a small smile, sipping at the water he held.
“I told you guys this would be good!” Tony exclaimed after drinking some of his own drink.
Everyone else merely nodded in agreement, enjoying the rare sense of peace. Tony had dragged them out here to the serenity of the northern New York forests and now they all on logs arranged around a fire as the sun began sinking beyond the horizon.
Thor tossed another three hot dogs onto a skewer, already having ate twelve before that and seven s’mores, and held them over the crackling fire. He would surely eat his weight in hot dogs and s’mores before the night was over.
Natasha and Bruce were sitting far too close to each other for it to be merely friendly, both sitting in silence as they stared into the fire.
Wanda and Vision were also sitting closer than usual but they were talking, well Wanda was talking, telling stories of her childhood, while Vision listened intently.
Sam and Steve were discussing an upcoming football game between the Eagles and Giants, adamantly discussing the strengths and weaknesses of both teams and making bets on who they thought would win.
Clint and Tony seemed to be plotting their next round of pranks on the team seeing as they were speaking in hushed whispers and every now and again one of them would look up and glance around the people around the fire before sticking their heads together once more and snickering.
All-in-all she couldn’t ask for a more perfect moment. She herself was wrapped in the welcoming embrace of Bucky, their cozy twosome sitting a bit away from the rest of the group and soaking in each other’s company. The brunette super soldier was resting his head atop hers and staring into the dancing flames, seeming lost in a time long gone. She was content though, simply enjoying his company and relishing the rare break from mayhem. Willing to give almost anything to have this moment last forever.
