Nightmare
“Help!”
Her voice, broken and vulnerable as it trembled with fear, was enough to keep his eyes open. She was above him, cradling his head against her chest as tears began slipping from her [e/c] eyes.
“Someone please!”
Her cries fell on deaf ears, people ran around them but no one stopped, hell no one even spared a glance in her direction. He knew this was the end and he didn’t really mind, he should have died years ago, but he had to fight, not for himself but for her.
“Hey doll, don’t cry.” His voice was shaky and with all the strength he could find within himself he lifted a bloodied hand to swipe away some of her cascading tears but only managed in smearing blood on her face.
“James, don’t leave me.” [Y/N] cried, taking old of his hand in desperation, “Oh Gods please don’t leave me!”
“I’m right here, I’m not goin’ anywhere.” Bucky managed to say and give a weak smile.
She burst into hysterics and buried her face into the crook of his neck, rocking back and forth as violent sobs shook her body.
“I love you doll, so much.” Bucky said, running his hand along her arm and watching the tail of blood that followed in the wake of his fingers.
“No, don’t you dare say good-bye!” She cried, lifting her head to yell at him.
“It’s okay.” He cooed, trying to calm her the best he could before his end came.
“I love you James, you can’t go.”
“I’m sorry.” He whispered weakly, the look of panic and shattering sorrow in her [e/c] eyes being the last thing he saw before he was pulled into nothingness.
He woke with a start, bolting upright in his bed. His blue eyes flew around the dark room, the sound of his heavy breathing being the only thing to break the silence of the night. The sudden feeling of the bed shifting beside him caused Bucky to tense but as he watched the moonlight wash over the woman he loved his muscles relaxed almost instantly. It was just another nightmare.
