Snow White
His blue eyes closed as walked through the front door, taking a deep breath and relishing the scent of home. With his eyes still closed he took a step, eyes snapping open upon hearing a soft yelp.
“Shit.” Bucky muttered under his breath as he knelt down and began petting the small canine gently, “I’m sorry boy.”
The pup’s look of hurt quickly changed to one of overwhelming joy as he licked the large hand that was petting his head.
“Welcome home.” An amused voice said from above him.
“Did you miss me d-“ Bucky stopped short when he saw the creature his girlfriend held in her arms, cradling it like she could a child, then sighed as he stood back up, “Not another one.”
“Oh Bucky, you should have seen him!” [Y/N] defended, looking down at the critter with a sympathetic look, “He was all alone in the park and he just looked so helpless.”
“He’s a squirrel, you can’t keep a squirrel.” Bucky pointing out, every time he left on a mission he would come home to find [Y/N] with a new addition to their, vastly growing, family in her arms.
“Why not? Skitters is perfectly happy here, and he’s just the sweetest thing!”
“You named it?” Bucky asked, running a hand through his long brunette hair in exasperation, “Doll, we’ve talked about this.”
He had already had to take seven cats to the shelter, four rabbits, fives turtles, and God knew how many birds back to the park thanks to missions past. [Y/N] looked down at the grey squirrel in her arms with a sorrowful look before looking up at him with tear filled [e/c] eyes.
“Please James.” She began as she always did.
He was all to used to this, having to break the heart of the woman he loved because of her unending habit of bringing home animals. It had been a long two weeks, he was lucky she had only brought home one critter this time, and all he wanted was to wrap his arms around her and soak in every moment he was with her before he had to leave once more. He knew she only did this to fill the void she was left with every time he left her because, even if she never voiced it, he knew she was terrified every time he had to go because there was a chance he may never come back. Running his hand through his hand once again he gave yet another sigh. It was only one squirrel right?
“Fine.” Bucky said in defeat, smiling as he watched the smile that lit up her face.
Placing Skitters on the couch, [Y/N] turned and through her arms around his neck and pressed a tender kiss to his lips.
“Thank you.” She giggled, rubbing her nose against his.
“It’s alright doll, I should have known from the beginning what I was gettin’ into with you being Snow White and all.” Bucky chuckled softly, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer.
