Charlotte roll the dice

Charlotte was sunbathing outside. The others were gathered around the table on the terrace, deep in conversation. Engfa joined them but didn’t sit. She listened for a moment before making her way toward Charlotte, trying to act as casual and relaxed as possible.

Hearing footsteps, Charlotte tilted her head up. She suppressed a smile upon seeing Engfa approach, her hair slightly messy from the breeze.

With a small nod of her chin, Engfa greeted her. "Hi."

Charlotte didn’t respond, just watched, waiting.

Lowering her voice, Engfa murmured, “So… Alicia’s onto you. She thinks you and Charles have a history. It’s good if you keep up that act with him.”

Charlotte’s jaw tightened slightly, though nothing compared to Engfa’s.

“But I made Lou believe your clue was about money and convinced Alicia that your clue had nothing to do with love.”

Charlotte smirked. “Smart,” she said. “I’ll mislead Lou easily.”

Engfa didn’t reply. Smiling was hard—Lou trusted her the most. Without another word, she turned and walked back toward the group.

The exchange had been brief, but Charlotte watched Engfa retreat, sighed, closed her eyes, and tilted her face back toward the sun.

Alicia, who had been closely watching Engfa’s every move, saw her return and wasted no time.

“What did you ask Charlotte?” she inquired, attempting to sound casual.

Engfa didn’t react. “Nothing. Just wondered if she wanted to join us,” she replied smoothly. Then, with a nonchalant shrug, she added, “She said no.”

The TV emitted a sudden notification sound. Everyone rushed inside to read the message.

"Alicia and Charlotte, are you willing to participate in a game? Just the two of you?"

Alicia and Charlotte exchanged intrigued glances.

"Please come alone to the game room."

The two headed off. Engfa watched them go, a hint of unease creeping in. Charlotte and Alicia—both strong players—seemed more excited than worried.

The TV flickered to life, broadcasting a live feed of the game room. The contestants gathered on the couches, fascinated by the rare opportunity to watch a challenge from the viewers’ perspective.

They watched as Charlotte and Alicia stepped carefully into the room. Engfa saw Charlotte in a way she never had before. She thought she looked breathtaking on TV.

Both women took their seats on opposite sides of a black table.

In front of them were two white dice.

The voice of the host echoed through the room:

"Charlotte, Alicia, you are both investigating each other’s secrets. Now, you have the opportunity to gain a clue about the other."

Engfa’s stomach tightened.

Charlotte remained unreadable, while Alicia nervously smiled, glancing at her opponent.

"You will both roll the dice. The player with the highest number will win a clue about the other."

Pure luck.

"Alicia, you roll first."

Alicia blew on the dice for luck before rolling.

“4!”

She exhaled in relief, satisfied with her result.

The room let out a collective sigh—they had all been holding their breath.

Now it was Charlotte’s turn.

The camera zoomed in on her. The tension in the living room was thick, but it was nothing compared to the pressure inside the game room.

Charlotte picked up the die.

Everyone was transfixed by the screen.

Her face remained calm, but Engfa could see her take a slow breath, steadying herself.

Charlotte rolled.

The screen went black.

Everyone erupted.

"What?!" Engfa shouted, shooting up from her seat.

Silence.

After a few seconds, the game room door creaked open, and the contestants rushed to meet Alicia and Charlotte. Both had neutral expressions.

Charlotte spoke first. "We’re not allowed to tell you the result."

"What? Why?!" Lou whined dramatically.

Engfa, still tense, crossed her arms. "Really?"

Alicia nodded. "Yeah, really." Then, without another word, she made her way to bed.

One by one, the others dispersed, murmuring in frustration. Charlotte blended into the group, but as she glanced back, she noticed Engfa still standing there, unmoving.

Their eyes met. Charlotte smirked and winked.

Engfa couldn’t hold back a small laugh. Grinning, she followed the others into the living room.

Alicia wouldn’t last much longer.

Later that day

Engfa entered the bedroom to rest and found Alicia still lying in bed. As she pulled back her own covers, a small note from production caught her eye.

"For the karaoke night, console Alicia by doing her makeup."

Engfa glanced at Alicia, feeling an unexpected pang of sympathy. Gently, she sat beside her on the bed. Alicia looked up.

“Come on, girl. She’s not gonna guess your secret from one clue. You’re even now,” Engfa said, nudging her lightly.

Alicia sighed and sat up. "You’re right."

“I’ll do your makeup,” Engfa offered, her voice light and friendly—like how they used to be at the start of the game.

Alicia smiled.

In the living room

Lou, reaching into the candy jar, spoke through a mouthful of sweets. “Guys, they’re getting ready. We should too.”

Charles chuckled at Lou’s childlike enthusiasm. "What do you mean?"

“Engfa is giving Alicia a hot makeover for tonight. Careful, Charlotte—she might steal your guy,” Lou teased, pointing at Charles, who instantly blushed.

Charlotte and Maria exchanged amused glances before heading to the main bathroom to get ready.

From the doorway, Charlotte caught a glimpse of Engfa, her face intensely focused as she carefully applied Alicia’s mascara. Something about that image tightened Charlotte’s chest. She hated seeing Engfa this close with Alicia. She wanted her gone.

The music in the living room was loud now. Everyone was in high spirits.

Charlotte was quieter than usual. Every time Charles finished one of his exaggerated performances, he returned to sit beside her.

“Come on, Cha, you don’t want to sing?” he asked, draping an arm around her shoulder.

Charlotte straightened.

Charles' arm around her was the least of her problems, she was too hyper-aware of Engfa and Alicia laughing together. She knew Engfa was just keeping Alicia close as an ally—but jealousy wasn’t something Charlotte could control. Not here. Not when she couldn’t claim Engfa freely.

"Engfa! You have to sing!" Alicia insisted, pulling her toward the karaoke set-up.

The room erupted in cheers, encouraging her. With a playful roll of her eyes, Engfa gave in, choosing a slow, sultry song that sent a ripple through the atmosphere.

One by one, conversations died. Eyes turned toward her.

But none of them felt it as intensely as Charlotte.

Sitting rigid on the couch, Charlotte felt her pulse quicken. Engfa’s voice wasn’t just beautiful—it was hypnotic. It pulled her in, made everything else disappear.

For the first time in weeks, Charlotte forgot about the game. About the cameras.

A floating moment, just for her to be thankful to have her in her life.

It felt like falling in love all over again.

When the song ended, the moment lingered. The next track was a dance hit, and soon everyone was on their feet. Engfa, already high on adrenaline and drinks, swayed and laughed as she was pulled into the crowd.

Charlotte smiled to herself. She’s so beautiful.

From across the room, Engfa waved at her to come join them. Before she could refuse, Maria and Lou grabbed her arms and dragged her to the dance floor.

Charlotte finally let herself go. She danced, laughed, enjoyed the moment.

Then, of course, something had to happen.

Alicia twirled into Engfa’s space, slipping her arms around her neck.

Charlotte’s stomach twisted.

The music felt too loud. The air too heavy. Charles was too close. Everything was suffocating.

Maria noticed. "You okay, girl?"

Feigning dizziness, Charlotte muttered, “I’m tired. I think I’ll head to bed.”

Without another word, she slipped away.

Engfa saw her leave. Her mind spun.

That had been Charlotte. Not the player. Not the strategist.

Just Charlotte.

Later that night

Later that night, the air had cooled, the tension had died down. Most of the contestants had drifted off to their rooms, but Charlotte lingered in the hallway, pretending to search for something in the shared closet space.

She wasn’t looking for anything. She was waiting.

And sure enough, Engfa found her.

The moment Engfa stepped into the dimly lit closet, Charlotte felt it—the unspoken energy crackling between them.

Engfa leaned casually against the wall, her expression unreadable. "Hey."

Charlotte didn’t flinch. She tilted her chin up, feigning indifference. "Did you have fun tonight?"

Engfa took a slow step closer. "Not as much as Charles."

"You mean Alicia?" Charlotte shot back, her voice too sharp, too fast.

Engfa exhaled a soft laugh.

Charlotte’s heart pounded. "You let her flirt with you."

Engfa stepped closer—too close. Their bodies were almost touching, the heat between them nearly unbearable. Charlotte could smell her perfume, something subtle and intoxicating.

"It’s a game," Engfa murmured.

Charlotte’s breath hitched. "Right," she said, her voice softer now. "A game."

Engfa hesitated, her gaze flickering between Charlotte’s eyes and her lips. The silence stretched. Charlotte could feel her pulse in her throat.

Then, Engfa smirked. "Want me to remind you?"

Before Charlotte could process it, Engfa closed the distance and kissed her.

It wasn’t gentle. It wasn’t careful. It was claiming.

Charlotte froze for half a second, her mind screaming at her to stop, to pull away. But her body betrayed her.

She kissed Engfa back.

Harder.

Desperate.

Her hands found Engfa’s waist, pulling her in, refusing to let go. Engfa responded in kind, gripping Charlotte’s hips, pressing her against the wall. Their breaths mingled, heavy and erratic, as their lips moved together with a fervor neither of them could control.

Somewhere in the back of her mind, Engfa knew this was dangerous. Someone could see them. Someone could catch them.

She tried to break away. "Charlotte, we—"

But Charlotte wouldn’t let her go.

She kissed her again, deeper this time, swallowing Engfa’s breath, making it impossible to think of anything else.

Engfa let out a small, breathless laugh between kisses.

Charlotte finally pulled back, just enough to meet Engfa’s gaze. Her lips were swollen, her eyes dark with something dangerous.

Engfa shook her head, grinning. "It’s gonna be hard to go to bed after that."

Charlotte smirked, running her thumb across Engfa’s lower lip. "Sweet dreams."

Engfa swallowed, her body still thrumming with heat. "You too."

But she didn’t move away.

And neither did Charlotte.

Still hidden in the closet, Charlotte and Engfa finally felt their hearts slow to a normal rhythm. They were grinning at each other like teenagers sneaking out past curfew, while the rest of the villa was probably asleep.

Engfa whispered, "So, what was Alicia’s clue?"

Charlotte exhaled. "It was a drawing of a camera and a trial."

That left both of them thinking, theorizing.
