Welcome to New York
The detectives of the 99 had been buzzing in anticipation all morning. Apparently, they were getting a transfer from the Gotham City Police Department, one of the few good cops there. (Not sure why they would give him up but it’s not like they were complaining of getting someone of his calibre)
Finally, the elevator dinged, notifying every one of an arrival. But the only person who stepped out was a uniformed officer. Noticing everyone looking at her, she turned her head, expecting someone behind her.
“Wait, are you waiting for me, Debbie Fogle? For the first time?!” She asked, bouncing up and down.
“Uh no sorry…Debbie, we are actually waiting for the new transfer.” Answered Jake Peralta.
Debbie looked a little dejected, but she quickly brushed it off. She padded off towards…somewhere, the squad didn’t pay attention to as the elevator dinged again.
Out stepped a young man with tan skin, wearing a massive grin.
“Detective Grayson, welcome to the 99th precinct of the NYPD.” Greeted Captain Holt, walking up to the transfer to shake his hand.
Dick shook it vigorously while taking the precinct in.
“I hope I can do my part in this community,” Dick promised. Holt nodded, before gesturing to Terry. The sergeant lead the transfer to his new desk.
“I’m Sergeant Terry Jeffords, if you have any questions, ask away.” He said with a pleasant smile.
“Can you tell me a bit about everyone? So I can know what conversations to start with them?” Dick asked.
“Well over there are Detectives Hitchcock and Scully.” Terry says, as he points to the two middle aged men past Charles’ desk.
They were having a minor squabble about pies.
“You won’t really get assigned any cases with them; they don’t do much other than eat.”
“Across from you is Detective Boyle. He is a good detective, his heart is usually in the right place but he sometimes is a tad strange.” Terry states, as Charles eats a slab of butter like an ice cream.
The sergeant turns around to point at Jake and Amy having an argument about the necessity of items on your desk.
“Detective Peralta and Santiago. They are both of my best detectives, but spend a lot of time and effort on their personal relationships. He is a jokester, and she is very detail oriented.”
Terry turned once again to point behind Dick, so the transfer turned around as well.
“Detective Diaz.” She looks up at the pair, scowl etched upon her face.
“Don’t mess with her is a good ground rule, and her life is mostly a mystery.” Dick nodded along, not before he realised Terry forgot someone.
“What about phone lady, over near the captain’s office?” Dick said, looking past the big man.
Terry looked the same direction, and noticed Gina on her phone as well.
“Oh Gina, she is the captain’s assistant. She…is apparently famous, but she is nice enough if she really needs to be.” Dick nodded again, and began to place his stuff on his desk, and Terry was about to leave, when he realised something.
“Hey, you didn’t tell me anything about yourself.”
“Suppose I didn’t.” Mused Dick before going to the matter at hand. “Well, I’m grew up in the circus before staying in Gotham when I got adopted, then moved to Blüdhaven at 16 and joined the force there. Then a while later, moved back to Gotham and joined the GCPD.”
“Oh and my friends describe me as a funny guy so I will probably get along well with Jake.”
Terry stood there, gaping, but only for a second. Collecting himself, he quickly excused himself to his desk.
“This new transfer is weird.” He mumbled under his breath.
