Chapter 13

Glinda closed the door behind Elphaba. She hugged Elphaba again and patted her back.

"Glinda... I-I'm sorry, I don't understand why I'm crying right now... I just need to get a grip and calm down." Elphaba said and chuckled softly. She turned her face away from Glinda's.

"Elphie. I just want you to know, it's all going to be alright. I don't hate you." Glinda said, she put her hands on Elphaba's cheeks and used the sleeves of her sweater to wipe her tears away. "It's okay, just calm down first. I need you to calm down so we can actually talk. Okay?" Glinda asked softly, receiving a gentle nod from Elphaba.

"Okay, yeah... Let me just-" Elphaba gently pushed away Glinda's hands before she started wiping her own tears off her face aggressively. She looked back at Glinda afterword, looking much calmer now.

The tension started getting a little bit awkward, since Glinda and Elphaba were just looking at each other now.

"Okay, Elphie. What did you want to tell me?" Glinda said. She sat down on her bed and patted the space near her for Elphaba to sit.

"I just- u-uhm... I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for ignoring you and running away when you called me... Y-you know already. And, that I was really stupid the past few weeks because I didn't really so anything nice to you and-" Elphaba was cut off.

"Elphie, It's not just your fault, it's also mine. I was sad when you didn't talk to me just because I was clingy, I sent you a bunch of mixed signals which started making you confused, and I also started to make it feel like everything was your fault, which it wasn't." Glinda said. "So, it's both of our faults."

"R-Really...?" Elphaba said. Elphaba was usually okay with everything being her fault, since that was what always happened at her house, or anywhere she went just because she was... Different.

"Yeah. Both of our faults." Glinda finished, smiling softly at Elphaba.

Elphaba put one of her hands on Glinda's cheek, it felt like it had always... Belonged there.

The atmosphere in the room seemed to change immediately. From awkward and shy, to comforting and something else neither of the girls had wanted to name yet, because they didn't know what was going to happen next. Elphaba noticed Glinda's eyes flicker down to where her lips were, and both of their faces started to flush ever-so-slightly.

"Elphie..." Glinda muttered, her hand was now entangled with Elphaba's free hand as she leaned in.

And Elphaba met her halfway. Both of them didn't really know how it had happened. It felt like years had passed when Glinda or Elphaba pulled back, leaving both of the girls absolutely breathless.

For a moment it was like the whole world had stopped. And both of them let themselves believe it as they started into one another's eyes longingly.

"E-Erm..." Elphaba said after some time passed. "I- What did we just do?" She muttered shyly, hand still on Glinda's cheek.

"Uhm... I think that was my first kiss with a girl, Elphie." Glinda muttered under her breath.

"My sweet, that was my first kiss ever." Elphaba countered, giving Glinda a crooked smile.

"Oh, Elphie... You deserved better, then... So much better..." Glinda replied, and leaned in again.

This time, the kiss was more passionate then gentle, and they both pulled back again with wide smiles. Glinda hugged Elphaba gently, burying her face into Elphaba's shoulder. Elphaba started to cry again, but this time it was from happiness, other than guilt.

"Wait. Did you call me... 'my sweet,' Elphie?" Glinda asked, her face turning as pink as the bedsheets under the two girls.

"What did I do?- Sorry, I think my brain shut off when we..." Elphaba trailed off, and just held on tightly to Glinda.

"Must be dangerous for someone as smart as you to turn their brain off, Elphie..." Glinda mumbled softly. Elphaba laughed at that comment, and hugged Glinda even tighter.

They both stayed that way for a long time, just held in one-another's arms. Glinda could not bear herself to let go. She absolutely needed to give Elphaba- no... Her Elphie, a hug. She knew Elphaba needed it, since she started crying again soon after.

"Elphie, you are so confusifying sometimes... Why do you always close me off?" Glinda murmurs, her hands are running circles down Elphaba's back.

"I just... I don't want to hurt you, Glinda..." Elphaba mutters back, her hands hugging Glinda. Elphaba leaned back, and her face started flushing as she started to fully process what she had did. She started stuttering, and simply... malfunctioning.

"I understand. Now, do you want some tea or anything? I don't think Fifi is here, and i think eating something sweet will cheer you up." Glinda asks, getting up from the bed and offering her hand to Elphaba.

"Mhm." Elphaba says and takes Glinda's hand softly as they both walk into the living room which is very empty of a Winkie prince. Elphaba leans on the counter awkwardly as Glinda hums while making something. She feels so nervous and confused she can barely function while looking over at Glinda.

"You okay? You look like a nervous wreck." Glinda says as she hands Elphaba a heated cinnamon bun with extra powdered sugar. Elphaba took the plate and started eating the cinnamon bun. And it actually... Helped? Elphaba looked at the cinnamon bun in surprise, and walked over to the other side of the counter.

"Yeah, it... it did help. Thank you, Glinda..." Elphaba said quietly, and smiled at Glinda. That girl really had an impact on her, and she cared about her so much more then her mind had initially wanted her to, but it was all worth it.

"Elphie, are you sure you don't want to stay and just not work tomorrow?" Glinda asks, a pout on her face.

"Yeah, it's okay if you don't go tomorrow as well." Elphaba said matter-of-factly.

"Okayy... Fine..." Glinda said.

"mhm. I'll see you tomorrow. But I just want to do this first..." Elphaba says, and walks over to Glinda.

Elphaba kisses her again, letting Glinda adjust her feet so she could try and reach Elphaba better. They both started holding each other gently, and softly.

"o-okayy... I need to go before I get convinced to stay here." Elphaba said, and walked out of the door smiling like an idiot.

Glinda closed the door and fell onto her couch as she started internally dying about how she had actually... kissed Elphaba, and she started laughing very softly. She hugged her pillow and turned around. She stared at the ceiling and smiled to herself.

Elphaba walked into her classroom, to be surprised by someone holding out a coffee for her on her desk.

"Glinda, don't spill coffee on my desk." Elphaba said and smiled before setting down her bag.

"Wellll... No promises." Glinda said and walked up to Elphaba to hand her a coffee.

"Fine, just don't be too messy." Elphaba said and took the coffee.
