Chapter 12
Glinda and Fiyero were now almost fully done with the most recent season, until Glinda got a phone call.
"I'm betting you five bucks it's going to be Fae." Fiyero stated, smiling proudly.
"It's not going to be Elphie. It's probably just going to be Momsie and Popsic-" Glinda took one look at the screen before frowning at Fiyero. "I'll give you the money later, just let me answer this call."
"Wait- It WAS Fae?" Fiyero said, before Glinda put her hand on his mouth.
__
"Hello?" Glinda asked.
"Hi Glinda, I just wanted to ask something." Elphaba said.
"H-Huh?- Oh. Okay," Glinda asked, she was halfway through contemplating what Elphaba was going to ask, until.
"Glinda, are you listening?" Elphaba asked softly.
"WH- Oh- Err... Yes?" Glinda said. Elphaba seemed to tell whatever she was going to ask was going to be confusifying, so she repeated her question.
"After school on Friday, would you like to come over? I know I've been avoiding you and- I haven't apologized yet and- Never mind... Just forget I asked at all, Glinda." Elphaba said.
"W-Wait! Elphie. I would love to..." Glinda said.
"Oh... Uhh..." Elphaba said, she then ended the call.
__
"Glin, I know you adore how awkward your 'not girlfriend' is, but can we continue the show?" Fiyero said. He was smirking at Glinda, but also obviously wanted to continue the show.
"Yeah, yeah... Fine." Glinda said and put down the phone.
Elphaba ended the call, and Boq was sighing next to her.
"Elphaba, you sound like a teenager-" Boq says, he's chuckling and pouring himself a glass of water.
"I- i just feel like she's the first person I've actually cared about like this, so i just-" Elphaba freezes up, she puts her head down on the countertop and starts to think.
She thinks about how much she actually cares about Glinda, and puts her head back up.
"I-I need to go talk to Glinda." Elphaba says to Boq, and starts sprinting over to her trench coat.
"Ah, okay. Just remember to invite me to the wedding, okay?" Boq says as he finishes his glass of water.
"WE ARE NOT- I'm leaving." Elphaba mutters. She grabbed her keys, and practically sprinted down the stairs to her car. She was just starting to understand how fucking stupid she was and made it to Glinda's house shortly after. (Not like she was going over the speed limit or anything haha...)
Elphaba sprinted over to the elevator. People definitely gave here weird looks, but she had seen those her whole life so none of them had really mattered to her that much anymore. When she made it to Glinda's apartment number, she gently knocked on the door while breathing like she just ran a marathon.
"Hello- Elphie?" Glinda said, she looked very surprised, and eventually she saw Fiyero come out from behind her.
"Oh- u-uhm. Am I interrupting something?" Elphaba asked, pointing to the both of them.
"Uhm, yes? We were almost done with the last season of a show we were watching." Fiyero said matter-of-factly. Elphaba gave them both a confusified look, and Glinda chuckled softly.
"Fifi, please go over to the couch and watch it without me, me and Elphie are going to talk." Glinda said. She closed the door behind her and walked over to Elphaba in the hallway.
Glinda looked at Elphaba with a hurt and caring expression, she looked down and sighed.
"Glinda- I... I am so sorry for treating you like absolute shit, and- er... I don't really know how to explain how... er... how sorry I am, because I'm a fucking idiot... and I have no clue how much I've been hurting you, and-" Elphaba was cut off.
"Elphie, i already know... also, did you bring a trench coat when the weather is in the 50's?" Glinda asked. Elphaba just started staring at Glinda. Glinda was just looking at her trench coat, and contemplating.
"Wh... What?" Elphaba asked softly, she started to cry shortly afterward.
"O-Oh my gosh Elphie- was my joke that bad?" Glinda asked, she looked concerned now.
"N-no... I- I'm just so happy I know you..." Elphaba said, and hugged Glinda.
"Elphie, are you okay?" Glinda asked. She started softly chuckling into Elphaba's shoulder.
"I... I've been such a fucking bastard to you... Why do you even still want to care about me..." Elphaba mumbled, she was still sobbing.
Glinda started patting Elphaba's back. Elphaba started clinging onto Glinda like a child getting taken away from their favorite toy.
"Elphie, can you look me in the eye?" Glinda asked, but Elphaba did not turn her head to face her. She felt so ashamed; she shouldn't receive this hug.
Glinda gently turned Elphaba's face toward her, and booped her nose. Elphaba's face was watery, and her eyes were now puffy.
"S-sorry, I should go." Elphaba said, she wiped her eyes and pulled back from Glinda.
"Elphie, it's okay... I forgive you." Glinda said. She held Elphaba's wrist. " Do you want to go to my bedroom and calm down there? And don't worry about Fiyero, I'll just tell him to piss off when he gets nosy." Glinda finished. Elphaba gave her a small nod, and Glinda led Elphaba through the apartment into her House.
"Glin, are you ready to watch another on- Oh. Oh..." Fiyero said, his expression changed into a knowing look of empathy to Glinda's worried and concerned eyes as she ushered Elphaba into her room.
"You go on ahead Fiyero. If Elphie and I arent in our offices tomorrow, tell everyone she's sick and I'm taking care of her." Glinda says sternly.
"Mhm, whatever you need Glin." Fiyero replies, and locks the front door while he walks out of her apartment.
