Chapter 3

When they both managed to fit their cars in Elphaba's driveway, Glinda was already giddy to be there. She knew since Elphaba was a naturally colder person, her house was much hotter, and Glinda was naturally Very hot, (not just in temperature in her opinion.) so she rolled up her overalls, and the sleeves to her light pink sweater.

"Glinda... it's not That hot in my house..." Elphaba said, smirking. They both walked to the house, it was on top of a bookstore cafe, which Elphaba absolutely loved with her whole heart. It was the whole reason she bought it immediately. And she had become friends with all the animals and people that worked at the cafe.

"So, Elphie. what are you doing to my arm?" Glinda asked, earlier they had gotten a checkup for the cut, and it was said that it just needed a few days to heal. Elphaba stretches and examines it.

"I don't actually know... I was kind of offering we research together. If you event want to now, that is." Elphaba mumbled, fidgeting wit her thumbs shyly, it looked like this was important to her. Glinda smiled at her and took her hands and cupped hers around them.

"I'd love to, Elphie." Glinda said sweetly, and looked at Elphaba. Elphaba's face was slightly dusted a shade of violet, and she looked confused. So, Glinda also paused, and it was just both of them, alone in the hallway.

They both slightly leaned in...

Elphaba's hands started to drift near Glinda.

"U-Uh!- anyway, Elphie..." Glinda yelled, hiding her face as she ran up the stairs to the door, leaving Elphaba there starstruck, and standing there.

Elphaba started internally dying, she saw Glinda lean in... right? But no matter, they had research to do.

"Elphiee... I'm so bored of this, can we invite the boys here?" Glinda asked.

"Cant." Elphaba replied, she was hunched over on the coffee table, aggressively taking notes on disinfecting wounds. After that response, Glinda stuck out her bottom lip in a pout, and fully laid on Elphaba's couch.

"Whyy??"

"Because Boq is too busy mourning on how single he is while grading band assignments, Fiyero is probably drinking at a seniors party, and Crope and Tibbett are picking people from the auditions for the new winter play. So... Nobody we can invite over." Elphaba explained and closed her book.

"Okay, okay fine... Can we do something else now, then? I don't really want to teach tomorrow, but its Friday. so I guess I should be excited to go?-" Glinda said and sat up.

"Elphie." Glinda said and held her arms out. Elphaba just kind of.. looked at her, confused. What was she doing?

"What?" Elphaba asked, turning toward Glinda.

"Can you come up here? I'm bor-" Glinda was cut off by a ring on her phone. Who was it?

After a little bit of talking, Glinda got up.

"Eh... Sorry Elphie, i have to go. My neighbors hear people knocking on my door, I think its momsie and popsicle." Glinda said, grabbing the bag she brought, and got up.

"Oh... okay, make sure to grab the notes we took." Elphaba said, and walked Glinda to the door, notebook in her hand.

"Mhm, thanks Elphie." Glinda said and grabbed the notebook from Elphaba.

And their hands brushed against each other, making both of them flinch out of Suprise.

"Okay, Bye!-" Glinda yelled, slamming the door behind her, leaving Elphaba standing there, shocked.

Glinda could still feel where Elphaba's hands had grazed hers when she was at that doorway, even if her hands were actually on a steering wheel. She was thinking about everything that had happened in this one day, which was more then she had immediately thought. She smiled when she remembered the fanart the student had given her of her favorite show, blushing out of embarrassment and mumbling the reason why they were there when they handed it to her.

She took a deep breath and stopped at her apartment. She straightened her posture and got a text from her momsie.

Momsie:We're here, come back in at least 5 minutes. we need to talk.

Glinda untied her messy curly hair and rolled down her overalls and sweater. She started walking into the apartment complexes lobby, and slowly walked in, she needed to be perfect. She got into the elevator and puffed her hair out with her hands as she walked out. She can't disappoint them, she needs to be absolutely perfect, so they don't put even more pressure on her.

"Oh, you still wear clothes like... that...?"  Larena Upland remarked, she was in an elegant dress, too elegant... Was she making a statement? her father wasn't that much different, he was just standing there, writing notes on an iPad. The Highmuster was always like this, busy and never focused on the personal parts of Glinda's life. He still thought her thoughts were the exact same as her thought's when she was younger.

Glinda loved her parents to death, she really did. They just had too many expectations.

"Glinda, you should invite us in." The Highmuster muttered, Glancing up only slightly.

"Y-Yes!... okay." Glinda said, opening the door to her apartment.

Elphaba was cooking fried rice on the stove, putting in dashes of soy sauce. She was thinking. What essay would she piss off her students with? No... She was already mean enough, she couldn't do something like that. She turned off the stove, savoring the satisfying smell, and grabbing a plate, and food container for her lunch. She put half in her container and put the other half on her plate.\

"Fae! Can you hear me?" Fiyero yelled, banging on the door. Elphaba scoffed and opened the door.

"What do you want." Elphaba asked.

"Errmmmm... I need a little baggie of hangover medication so I can drink tonight." Fiyero said simply.

"You idiot... you know tomorrow isn't a weekend. Right?" Elphaba said.

"Well, that's why I'm asking for the meds!" Fiyero said.

"Fine... stay there." Elphaba said and went to her bathroom. She grabbed a few of the pills and put them in a small plastic bag. She then walked back to Fiyero and handed it to him.

"Thanks Fae, you're a lifesav-" The door was slammed in Fiyero's face.

Elphaba took a deep breath, and walked over to her bedroom with her food. She grabbed a book of a bookshelf and collapsed onto her bed. She didn't want to shower today at all. But she needed to, so she got up and went to shower, but before stepping in... Looked at her hands quietly, she never really wanted to wash them now, Glinda's hands had a bigger impact then she thought, she wanted to... to hold them, because she thought Glinda was a good friend. that's all...

The next day, Glinda plopped her bag in the art room and started preparing the desks carefully. Some students started coming in and greeted her.

"Hi guys!" Glinda said, a little too cheerfully. She was a little tired, and forgot her coffee again.

Two knocks on the door.

Glinda started to smile and walked over to the door. She opened it and hugged the person at the door.

"Hi, my sweet." Elphaba said, hugging Glinda and putting her head on Glinda's neck.

"Hi Elphie." Glinda said, and smiled the widest she had in months.
