Chaos part 4
Sam’s POV
The night air was cool against Sam’s flushed skin, but it did nothing to help the fact that she was currently walking alone with Adrianna.
And Adrianna kept looking at her.
Not in a normal way. Not just casual glances. But in a way that made Sam feel... noticed.
Which was weird.
The group had split off—Abby and Anna were giggling over something together, Britt and Dre were deep in conversation, and that left Sam and Adrianna trailing behind.
Sam had no idea how to act.
Was she supposed to say something? Was the silence weird? Did she always walk like this?
She was thinking too much.
"You’re being awfully quiet," Adrianna said suddenly, giving her a side glance.
Sam jumped.
"WHO? ME?" she squeaked. "NO, I’M—I’M GREAT."
Adrianna’s lips twitched. “You sure?”
"Yep!" Sam nodded aggressively. "Completely fine! Super fine! Never been finer!"
Adrianna hummed like she didn’t quite believe her.
Then, casually as ever, she bumped her shoulder against Sam’s.
Sam almost tripped.
“So,” Adrianna said, acting like nothing happened, “that was fun.”
“Y-yeah!” Sam’s voice cracked. “Totally! Fun! So much fun! The most fun I’ve ever had in my life!”
Adrianna chuckled, shaking her head.
And then—casually, effortlessly—she said, “You’re cute when you’re flustered.”
Sam stopped breathing.
What.
WHAT.
Adrianna, meanwhile, just kept walking like she hadn’t just said that.
Sam’s brain stopped.
Okay. Okay, wait. Was that flirting? Or was she just being friendly?
Was this just, like, a normal thing that hot, confident people said? Did Adrianna just go around complimenting peoplelike this all the time?
Was Sam reading too much into it??
She had to know.
“Wh—I—what?!” she blurted.
Adrianna turned slightly, smirking. “What?”
Sam stared at her, suspicious. “Did you just—did you say I was cute?”
Adrianna shrugged. “Yeah.”
Sam’s soul left her body.
But Adrianna?
Adrianna just kept walking like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Sam’s thoughts were in absolute chaos.
Was that flirting?!
Or was she just being nice?!
HOW WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO TELL?!
One thing was painfully clear.
She was so screwed.
