When You Wake Up
Mizi knew it would be a bad day when she woke up to her throat practically burning. She and Sua were supposed to sing today, but she was afraid she would mess it up for both of them. She quickly took a couple sips of water, but her throat was still on fire. She tried to stay as still as possible to not wake up Sua, but she was a light sleeper and woke up anyways.
"Good morning," Sua smiled. Stretching, she remarked, "I'm hungry, and we're leaving early today. Will you help me with breakfast?"
"Of course," Mizi forced a smile.
She wasn't prepared for the dizziness that came when she stood up, and the edges of her vision flickered. Sua was suddenly right beside her, forcing her to sit again.
"Are you okay?" she asked worriedly, putting a hand against Mizi's forehead. "No, you're not okay. You're sick." Sua knew that Mizi was always freezing cold, but now she was overheating.
"I'm fine," Mizi insisted. "I haven't gotten sick in years."
Sua rolled her eyes. "That's just another reason why it makes sense that you're sick. It's okay, you know. Everyone gets sick during winter. Till was sick just two weeks ago, you probably caught it from him." She grabbed her phone and started to walk away, but Mizi grabbed her hand. "I'm just calling our manager to tell her that we won't be there today. I'll be right back."
When Sua returned, the first thing she asked was, "So what do you want for breakfast?"
Mizi shrugged. "I'm not really hungry."
Sua frowned. "You need to eat."
"I'm sorry, but I think I'd throw up if I had to eat anything right now."
"Fine, then at least let me make you a tea."
"But my throat is fine-" Mizi's voice caught at the end, and broke into a fit of coughs against her will.
Concern flashed across Sua's face. "I'll be fast," she promised.
The tea helped a little, but Mizi still felt miserable as she laid back against the pillows. "I'm sorry you have to miss recording today," she mumbled.
"Don't be silly, you can't always take care of yourself. Also, you won't be going back to work until after you're fully better. I don't want you overworking yourself. Nope, don't try to argue," Sua held her pointer finger against Mizi's lips. "You know you don't rest enough."
"I know," she admitted. She was struggling to keep her eyes open.
Sua touched her arm gently, "It's okay. I'll be here when you wake up."
Mizi knew Sua wouldn't break a promise.
