Sports Festival pt. 4
When Shouto saw what the second event was he's not embarrassed to say that he got nervous.
A Calvary Battle where you had to have three teammates. Now, it's probably not much of a shocker but Shouto wasn't a social person, even with Momiko's insistence that he at least try.
Shouto was perfectly happy with Momiko and his kids being his only social life.
Sadly, that had a bit of an impact on how he was going to recruit people for the Calvary Battle. Maybe it would've been easier for him if he hadn't scored first in the obstacle race and gotten the ten million point headband.
He had a good team in mind but that was only if they agreed so he hesitantly made his way over to the first person.
Yaoyorozu.
"Hey Yaoyorozu-san?" He asked, tapping her lightly on the shoulder. She spun around in surprise before a smile came into her face.
"Todoroki-san." She greeted. Shouto paused before deciding to just go for it.
"In class I noticed you were rather adept at strategy, much better than me if I'm honest. I was wondering if you would like to be on my team?" He silently prayed that she would say yes.
Yaoyorozu looked surprise for some reason.
"O-of course!" She stuttered, face flushed from the compliment, "you must excuse that I have promised Iida-san that we'd find a team together. Is that alright?"
Todoroki almost cried in relief. (an unfortunate habit he had gotten from Momiko who just couldn't restrain his tears sometimes)
"I was actually planning on asking Iida to join as well so that works perfectly."
Yaoyorozu beamed and nodded. "Alright so who next? We still need one more teammate." She placed a hand to her chin in thought.
"I was actually thinking that we could ask Shinsou... I'm almost certain that nobody outside of 1A actually knows his quirk." He suggested with a shrug. Yaoyorozu apparently liked the idea and soon they were grabbing Iida and making their way to Shinsou.
Shinsou was trying to melt into the shadows apparently but Yaoyorozu baited him out. The purple haired teen was surprised by their request but he readily accepted.
Shouto knew that Shinsou had a few friends in 1A but he didn't want to team up with them which was odd.
"Todoroki-san, I was thinking that you, me, and Iida-san should be the 'horses' and Shinsou-kun should be the 'rider'." Yaoyorozu proposed.
Shouto thought about it for a moment before nodding.
"Yes, yes that could work. You could be the from horse and me and Iida-san would be in the back. If you just create some roller skates than him and I can use our quirks for speed. And Shinsou-kun you should make the other teams think that you have a different activator for your quirk so that you have a chance in the next round."
His team looked a mixture of surprised and impressed at his improvised strategy. Shouto just gave a half-hearted shrug.
"Momiko likes strategy games." Was the only explanation he offered.

Izuku had been keeping a close eye on Todoroki ever since the second even t had been announced. He felt pride bloom in his chest when he quickly made up his team.
He was going over a quick analysis of all the teams when Mahoro patted his leg, trying to get his attention silently. Izuku looked over at her curiously. She held up the phone he used for his vigilante work.
Had he bragged yet about the fact that it looked exactly like his everyday phone? No? Well, it did. He made sure of that the minute that he got it.
He took the phone from her and leaned near her to make it look like he was helping her with a hard level on a game. In actuality he was reading the lastest text from Eraser.
TiredDad: Rogue? Are you at the festival?
BrotherBird: Actually, I would like to know that as well.
RatGod: Me as well.
DetectiveDad: Same here.
RogueBunny: That's for me to know and you all to possibly find out >:)
But seriously. That Todoroki kid's insane right?
BrotherBird: I was thinking the same thing. Dude's clearly got skill, maybe I'll give him an internship offer since you like him so much Rogue.
TiredDad: You are aware that you and Todoroki are most likely the same age right Rogue?
RogueBunny: If that's a ploy to find out my real age I'm not falling for it Eraser. You think you're slick huh?
TiredDad: Just doing my job.
Plus, the sooner I know who you are the sooner I can make sure you and Bunny are safe.
RogueBunny: Y'know, it's funny really. Because the longer you don't know who I am the better chance that you'll be able to live in Japan without fear.
DetectiveDad: Rogue?
Rogue!
He turned his phone off didn't he.
RatGod: It would seem so Detective. It would seem so.
TiredDad: Goddammit Problem Child.
Izuku felt a small amount of satisfaction as he watched them realize that he wasn't going to be answering them anytime soon. He honestly hadn't thought that text out very thoroughly but he didn't regret sending it.
"Sashi-nii! Look! Shoucchan's still in the lead!" Katsuma cheered. Eri was clapping happily beside him. Izuku gave Mahoro the phone again not before he ruffled her hair just a bit a pecked her forehead.
She blushed in furious embarrassment and turned away from him with a huff. Izuku giggled at her reaction before he turned he full attention back to the field.
There were still 10 minutes on the board but Todoroki had managed to keep his ten million headband and snag multiple other teams headbands keeping him and his team in the lead by a hell of a lot.
Izuku made sure to also pay attention to Toshi though since he was on the same team as Todoroki.
The entire team as a whole was doing amazing. Iida saved his quirk for quick getaways, Todoroki would make giant ice walls to block the other teams, Yaoyorozu was making all sorts of weapons to help their defense.
And Toshi, Toshi was making each team think his activation conditions for his quirk was a different thing. Izuku could see it from a mile away, once you were on the streets for long enough you could tell when someone wasn't doing whatever was natural for their quirk.
Izuku watched his two friends, the ones who were his age, intently. Their strategy was perfect from start to finish. Guess that's what you get when you meld Todoroki and Yaoyorozu together.
Once there were two minutes left on the board Uraraka and Katsuki's teams started actually going after Todoroki's team.
They expertly dodged every attack from the two teams, keeping just out of reach. Izuku was torn between wanting to laugh his ass off or wince in sympathy when he saw Katsuki faceplant into the concrete as soon as the ending bell played.
Todoroki's team was in first once again and Izuku and his kids cheered loudly for their two friends.

Izuku was honestly quite pleased with these results. The people who passed onto the third round would definitely make it interesting at least.
He stood up and stretched when the break was announced and that any student that needed medical attention could go to Recovery Girl. Todoroki would probably take them up on that offer since he probably had a touch of frostbite.
Instead of getting lost in the maze of hallways again he just dialled Todoroki's number after getting his vigilante phone back from Mahoro so he could switch it for his other phone.
"Hey Ro."
