Sports Festival pt. 3
Katsuki's little declaration gained as much as a backlash as expected.
Honestly, what had Izuku even expected from the temperamental blond? An actual speech? No way in hell. The crowd of first years dissolved into boo's and jeers, some of the crowd joining them.
A thought crossed his mind though. From his slightly hazy memories of Katsuki wouldn't he have added a self confident laugh to the end of the 'speech'? Huh, maybe he is actually serious.
Eri shifts in her seat beside him. "Ba-ku-go? Why does that sound familiar Sashi-nii?"
Izuku was immensely surprised, she still partially remembered what he had told her of his backstory? Wow. That was a couple months ago when it had still been just them and the apartment.
He quickly leaned down to whisper in her ear so that the cameras don't see or overhear what he says next.
"That's my old friend remember? I told you about him. I used to call him Kacchan."
She makes a silent 'Oh' of understanding and Izuku pulls back to refocus on the field. Looks like they're spinning the wheel to decide the first match.
"What could it be?" Midnight asked, trying to entice the crowd further into the excitement they were already radiating.
'Obsticale Race' was suddenly displayed on the board. Huh. That will be interesting to see. If Izuku recalls correctly the obstacle courses of past years have had four different obstacles.
"Ta Da!" Midnight yelled, swinging her rather weird tassel around. Did she really need to make sex toys part of her costume? Damn he really hopes that her and Eraser aren't that close, she'd be a weird aunt.
Plus he really didn't want her around the kids. The three of them are at a very crucial age.
"All 11 classes will participate in this treacherous contest. The track is four kilometers around the outside of the stadium. I don't want to restrain anyone, at least in this game." She added a very suggestive wink and lick of her lips.
Nope, uh-uh. Izuku blocked all his siblings eyes from seeing her any further. His 5 & 6 year old's aren't going to be seeing any more of that.
"As long as you don't leave the course you're free to whatever your heart desires!" Midnight struck a pose and winked.
"Now then. Take your places contestants." All of the first years on the field slowly filtered over to the tunnel entrance before they were all mobbed around the entrance.
"Begin!" Midnight yelled so loudly it distantly reminded Izuku of Present Mic. All of the first years rushed forward into the tunnel.
Oh damn. That's really congested and slow. Hopefully Toshi and Todoroki realize that the tunnel itself is the first obstacle in the course.
"And we're off to a racing start! How about some color commentary Sleepy Man?" Present Mic's voice was the quietest it had been all festival. Izuku snorted at what the blond called his husband.
"...How did you talk me into this?" Aizawa groaned.
Hey yeah, how in the hell did Present Mic rope Eraser into this? Husband privilege he guesses.

Hitoshi wasn't exactly surprised when he figured out that the tunnel was obstacle 1. It would make sense since the tunnel was so damn small and long. He would use his quirk but he's saving it for later.
Besides, getting first in the obstacle course wasn't the most important thing.
*
Shouto was already almost at the front of the tunnel. His mind was racing with ways to slow down his opponents when it occurred to him.
He could just freeze their feet to the ground. It would immobilize some and make the ground slippery and hard to walk or run on.
So that is exactly what he did.
*
Katsuki had smartly positioned himself in the very front of the crowd. He had recognized the danger of a crowded tunnel as soon as they had gathered around it. So he had made absolutely sure that he would be leading the pack.
As soon as he cleared the tunnel completely he was blasting away, followed closely by some of his classmates.

Mahoro wasn't really all that interested in the Sports Festival. She would much rather they be at home watching a stupid show on one of the many computers they owned.
It was too loud at the stadium. Too many people. To big a risk of him finding her and Katsuma.
Mahoro sent a sideways glance to her Izu-nii. She may act like she didn't care for her small family sometimes but she really does. It's only been about 3 weeks and Izu-nii has been more of a father than she has ever had.
She knows that her two other siblings also saw him as their father but nobody had slipped up and called him that. Especially not when he promised they would have three men in their lives someday that would be their dad's.
"Oh that sly fucker." Izu-nii laughed, eyes trained on one of the boards showing the progress of the contestants.
"Listen up kiddos. Do you see the position that Shoucchan has frozen the Robots? Who knows what's going to happen in the next 10 seconds?" He asked the three of them.
Mahoro looked over to the screen and immediately saw what Izu-nii was hinting at. "They're going to fall and create a wall of dead robots. But to the people on the ground it probably looks like a path."
As soon as the words left her mouth that's exactly what happened.
"Great job Haru! You were completely right!" Izu-nii reached over and ruffled he hair slightly.

Shouto didn't feel sorry at all for freezing the robots the way he did. It left just him and quite the handful of his classmates in the front as they continued to race forward.
Bakugou was way too close behind him for comfort. He would rather like to win this first event with only his ice since he can practically feel it in his gut that Momiko will convince him one way or another to change his feelings about his fire.
So he races forward, staying ahead of Bakugou and his explosions.
When he comes upon the their obstacle his heart splutters a bit in fear but his feet continue on. He paid an ounce of attention to what Present Mic was saying about the obstacle.
It was a tight crisscross of cords suspended over a rather deep crevice. It had a smattering of safe pillars throughout the length of it so he wouldn't be at risk of free falling at all times.
Shouto would have to be especially quick with this one since Bakugou could just blast his way over.
So, he used his ice to encase the cords and sail through. It was significantly easier to just focus on putting the ice where his feet were going rather than focus on balance.
Pretty soon he was across the third obstacle and just a fraction of a second later than Bakugou. He faintly registered the voices behind him and the blond as some of the others made it to the third obstacle.
Shouto didn't pay much attention though as he and Bakugou just tried to outrun each other to the fourth obstacle. It was a fair stretch of land between the last two obstacles but when they finally got the fourth they both stopped in shock.
Of-fucking-course it was a glitter bomb mine field. What else to expect from U.A.?
Bakugou scowled before starting to carefully traverse through the field. Shouto however paused and tested a theory and hopefully a budding plan.
He encased a single mine with a thick layer of ice and briefly stepped on it. It didn't explode. With a self satisfied smirk Shouto sent out a straight path of ice with the same thickness before setting off in a dead sprint.
Good thing his shoes were made for the best traction on ice. And that he had such wonderful stamina for this much running.
When Bakugou saw him pass he let out a cry of surprise before quickly going back to using his explosions to fly through the air. And like most of the race had been they were neck and neck.
It stayed that close until the very end where Shouto got out of the tunnel that led them back into the stadium and entire 2 seconds before Bakugou.
He had won the first game.
