Father!Izuku x Mother!Reader
You never got to meet your grandma did ya?
Izuku Midoriya had shocked everyone after his daughter was born, mainly since he gave up his position of number one hero for a while in order to raise her. His mother had died a few years prior due to unfortunate circumstances,so the boy didn’t actually have anyone that could help him raise little Hikari. While Izuku focused on raising Hikari, his friends filled in his territory, allowing the boy to dedicate himself to parenting.
Raising a baby alone was rough, though he did have plenty of people around him that were eager to help him raise Hikari. A year had passed before he’d even noticed it,but Izuku wasn’t ready to return to being a hero yet. Symbol of Peace or not,Izuku had been left with an extremely important responsibility to raise Hikari. He was snapped out of his daze when he heard the loud crying of his daughter, the boy chuckling as he walked into her room.
“Good morning,Hikari.. How are you doing?” Izuku asked her softly, the girl just making grabby hands. She was the spitting image of her father, but she had her mother’s eyes, which made him unbelievably happy. “Come on,aren’t you gonna try and stand at least a little?” He asked softly, the girl just staring at him. She had yet to begin walking or talking, and it was making him a little anxious. He just picked her up and held her close, carrying her over to the bathroom.
After her bath,Izuku got her dressed into a cat-eared outfit, chuckling as he looked down at her. “You’re so pretty,Hikari! So gorgeous!” He praised, kissing her forehead with a grin. The girl let out a giggle and gripped onto him tightly, making Izuku laugh. “We’re gonna go visit uncle Kacchan today.. Can you say ‘Kacchan’?” He asked, the girl just going quiet and staring up at him. He sighed before kissing her forehead as he carried her downstairs, knowing he should be trying harder to get her to speak. He couldn’t bring himself to force his daughter into speaking, but he knew she needed to speak eventually.
“Mm.” Hikari whined out as they passed by the room where her father had their little family altar. Izuku paused and chuckled, before he opened the door and carried her in.
“What, did you wanna say good morning to mama and grandma?” Izuku asked, holding her close. “You never got to meet your grandma, did you? She would have loved you to death.” He muttered, pulling her closer.
“Mm.” Hikari said, making grabby hands towards the picture of her mother. Izuku gave it to her, watching as she kissed it. He had gotten her into a routine of visiting the room at least twice a day, mainly since he wanted her to know who her mother and grandmother were. He placed the picture back when the girl was done with it,repeating the action with the picture of his own mother.
“Are you ready for breakfast now, hmm?” Izuku asked her softly once the girl was finished, little Hikari just nodding and hugging his neck again. Her hair tickled her father’s nose, but he just carried her to the kitchen and sat her down in her seat. “How about we try to eat some strawberries today,hm?” He asked as he opened the fridge.
“Mm!” Hikari said, nodding excitedly. Her whole body swayed with the movement, making Izuku laugh. He chopped them up small enough for her to eat them, setting the little plastic plate down in front of her and walking away so he could get his own breakfast ready.
After they were finished eating, and after Izuku had cleaned everything up,they began their trek to Katsuki’s agency,Izuku holding his daughter tightly. He had avoided the press by cutting his hair and moving houses again,so the boy made it to Katsuki’s agency with very few people recognizing him.
“You have to be like ‘die, you fuck!’ if you want villains to be afraid!” Katsuki screamed at the top of his lungs at one of his interns, the poor boy repeating after him as they tried to look intimidating.
“Kacchan, good morning.” Izuku said, holding Hikari closer. The girl had gotten used to Katsuki’s yelling after hearing it for the entirety of her short life, but that didn’t mean Izuku enjoyed her hearing his friend’s constant shouting.
“Ah,morning, you damn Deku.” Katsuki said, his face softening a little when he saw Hikari. “Morning,Hikari.” He said, the girl reaching out for him excitedly.
“Mm! Mm!” She whined,Izuku passing her to Katsuki with a laugh.
“She’s a lot like I was when we were kids, huh?” Izuku asked,Katsuki seeming disgusted by his friend’s words.
“Hikari’s nothing like you,you damn Deku! She’s adorable!” The blond snapped, holding the girl close as he turned to his interns. The interns were trying their best to be intimidating, but they couldn’t keep their facade up in front of the adorable baby.
“She’s too cute..” One of the boys said, reaching out to poke her cheek. Katsuki turned away so the boy couldn’t touch her, giving him a sharp and dangerous glare.
“Nobody’s allowed to touch her except for me!” The blond said. He was extremely overprotective of his ‘niece’,and he’d never once let anyone in his agency hold her.
“I just wanna poke her once..” The intern said,Hikari giving him a bright smile. He squealed at the sight, his tough guy facade completely gone. “Mr.Deku, how the hell is she so cute…?!”
“She takes after her mother,I guess.” Izuku chuckled, watching as his daughter pulled on Katsuki’s hair. Katsuki let the girl do as she wanted, completely useless against her cuteness.
“Has she started trying to talk yet?” Katsuki asked,Izuku shaking his head. Katsuki nodded and held the baby away from himself, staring at her very seriously. “Hikari, try to say ‘hug’.” He demanded, the girl just staring at him. She started to tear up when he didn’t hug her close, the girl throwing back her head and letting out a loud wail as she began to kick her feet. Katsuki gave in immediately, pulling her close and sighing as he rubbed her back. “If she wasn’t so damn cute then I’d be forcing it out of her.” He muttered, everyone laughing at the boy. Hikari sniffled and held onto him tightly,Katsuki sighing as he held her tightly.
“I’ve been trying to get her to talk a little, but the most she ever lets out are ‘hms’ and ‘mms’.. Ochaco says it’s because I give up so quickly that she doesn’t try to speak more often, but she cries whenever I try to make her speak..” Izuku said, the interns just watching as their ‘big and scary’ boss soothed the baby.
“Hikari will talk when she wants to,so don’t you dare force her and make her cry,you damn Deku.” Katsuki said, the interns laughing.
“Let Eren try and get her to speak! Out of all of us,he’s the one with a bunch of little sisters.” One of the interns said,Katsuki shaking his head as he held the baby closer. Eren stepped forward, the boy a towering giant compared to the others.
“Oi,kid, speak!” He said, leaning down towards the baby to try and ‘intimidate’ her into it. Hikari let out a giggle as she reached her chubby hand out, patting the side of his face. Eren was putty in her hands instantly, unable to take how adorable she was. Izuku watched them with a laugh, thinking it was absolutely adorable how his daughter easily made people like her.
Every night, I got you kissing on her picture
Izuku returned to being a hero the week after his last visit to Katsuki’s place, meaning he no longer got to spend everyday with his daughter. He had been reluctant to return, but he couldn’t hold off much longer.
“Ochaco, are you sure you can handle Hikari today?” Izuku asked worriedly.
“Of course I can handle her! Hikari loves me,so don’t worry and have fun at work,Deku!” Ochaco said, grinning at him. Izuku nodded reluctantly and sighed, kissing Hikari’s cheek.
“I’ll be home before you know it,alright babygirl?” He asked softly, the girl giggling as she looked up at him. He sighed as he reluctantly parted from his daughter, knowing he had to trust Ochaco to watch her.
“Have fun,Deku!” Ochaco said, waving as the boy left.
Hikari was an angel for the first few hours, but she soon began to cry when she realized her father wasn’t around. She wailed and kicked for nearly an hour straight,Ochaco desperately trying to calm her down. It took Ochaco giving her a stuffed dog and a cookie for Hikari to calm down, the green-haired baby sniffling as she held the stuffed animal tightly. Ochaco collapsed on the couch and sighed as she watched Hikari eat little pieces of the cookie, knowing the girl wasn’t used to being away from her father for long.
When nighttime rolled around,Izuku got an unexpected call.
“Deku, you have to come home..” Ochaco muttered into the phone, sighing. “I don’t know why,but Hikari won’t stop crying no matter what I do.. I’ve checked her diaper,I’ve put on cartoons, and I even spent an hour holding her,but she won’t stop crying..”
“Ah,did you take her to go visit the altar yet?” Izuku asked, his heart aching at the news that his daughter had been crying so much. He had spent the day doing patrols and readjusting to life as a hero, but it was difficult for him to be away from his beloved daughter.
“The altar? Why would that calm her down?” Ochaco asked, picking up the baby as she floated the phone by her ear.
“She won’t fall asleep until she’s given her grandma and her mother a kiss.” Izuku explained, leaning back into his chair.
“Is that why she hasn’t fallen asleep yet?” Ochaco sighed, carrying her into the altar room.
“Sorry I didn’t tell you this morning, but I honestly forgot that you didn’t know about that.” Izuku said, staring at the ceiling. “She should calm down and fall asleep after she’s given them a kiss.”
“Alright.. I’ll see you when you get back, then.” Ochaco sighed, hanging up the phone. She made sure Hikari gave both pictures a kiss before she carried the girl out of the room, rubbing her back and rocking her. Hikari fell asleep quickly,Ochaco laying her down in her crib.
Izuku returned early the next morning, deciding he could never spend another night at the agency.
Cuts me up that you will never listen
To the sweet, sweet sound of her voice
“Deku, what are you planning on telling Hikari about how her grandmother and (First Name) died..? When she’s older,I mean..” Ochaco asked her friend curiously,Izuku pausing and looking over at his friend.
“I’ll tell her the truth.” The green-haired boy said,Hikari busy playing with one of her toys.
“But (First Name) died giving birth to Hikari.. Don’t you think that’ll make Hikari feel bad?” Ochaco asked,Izuku shaking his head and laughing.
“I’ll tell her everything that (First Name) told me back when she was pregnant.. I’ll tell her how much her mother loved her,and how much I love her,so that way she’ll know exactly how much she’s loved.” Izuku said as he looked down at his hands quietly,Ochaco just nodding a bit as she looked down at the girl. Hikari turned and stared at them, frowning when she saw the sad look on her father’s face.
“Pa.. Papa..” The green-haired girl said,Izuku’s eyes widening when he heard her.
“What’d you just say,Hikari?” He asked, the girl repeating herself and making grabby hands. Izuku couldn’t help but grin as he scooped her up,holding her close. “Yep! I’m your papa!” He said happily, grinning at her. Hikari giggled happily as she chanted the word,Ochaco taking a picture of them with a laugh.
“Isn’t that great,Deku?! Her first word was ‘papa’!” The brunette said,Izuku nodding and grinning.
“I’ve gotta call Kacchan and Shoto!” The green-haired boy said, grabbing his phone and calling Katsuki first. “Kacchan, you’ll never believe what just happened!”
“What is it,you damn Deku?! I’m busy!” Katsuki snapped. “And shouldn’t you be getting ready for work?! We have a mission today, you dumbass!”
“Hikari just said her first real word! Ochaco and I were talking, and I guess she got worried when I started thinking about my mom and (First Name),so she called me ‘papa’! Isn’t that great,Kacchan!?” Izuku told him excitedly, holding his daughter close as he bragged.
“Huh?!” Katsuki asked, unable to hide his excitement over his ‘niece’ having said her first word. “Did you get it on camera?”
“No,but she can say it again! Wanna hear her?” Izuku bragged, grinning.
“Not really, but give her the phone!” Katsuki demanded. Izuku laughed and pressed the phone against Hikari’s ear. “Oi,Hikari, say it again.”
“Papa!” Hikari said happily,Katsuki nearly losing his mind at how adorable the girl sounded. Izuku pressed the phone back against his own ear with a grin.
“Isn’t she adorable,Kacchan?” The green-haired boy asked his friend excitedly.
“Shut up,you damn Deku! Just get yourself to work!” Katsuki snapped, hanging up the phone and looking around to make sure none of his interns were in the room. “I would fucking die for that kid!” He shouted, his interns listening and laughing from around the corner.
Izuku called Shoto excitedly after that, clearing his throat as he waited for the boy to answer. “Shoto,Hikari just called me ‘papa’ for the first time!” He bragged once the boy picked up.
“That’s great. She’s around that age, right?” Shoto asked calmly, though the boy was really happy for his friend.
“Yeah, but she’s just too cute! Listen, listen! Hikari, say ‘papa’ again!” Izuku said, pressing the phone against the girl’s ear once again.
“Papa!” Hikari repeated, giggling happily. Izuku pressed his phone back against his ear, though he was confused when he didn’t hear Shoto on the other end.
“I guess he hung up as well..” Izuku muttered,Shoto’s own interns just watching in confusion as Shoto stared at the now charred phone in his hand.
“I want a baby now.” The half-and-half boy said, making his interns freak out a little at how their level-headed boss suddenly wanted a child.
Izuku went to his own agency after he reluctantly left Hikari in Ochaco’s care once again, the boy clearing his throat as he walked into the building.
“Welcome back,Deku!” His only intern,Hayato, greeted him eagerly. He was a third-year at U.A.,and the only intern Izuku had accepted.
“Hayato, you won’t believe it..” Izuku muttered, the intern getting nervous at his boss’s words.
“What happened?! Was there a villain attack or something?!” Hayato asked, preparing himself to go fight.
“Hikari called me ‘papa’ today.. Her first word was ‘papa’..” Izuku said,Hayato just staring at him in shock.
“Little Peace started talking?!” He asked excitedly, his eyes lighting up.
“She did,she did! I almost stayed home because of it!” Izuku said, his own eyes sparkling.
“I wish I could’ve seen it..!” Hayato whined. He was absolutely helpless when it came to the child, even though he’d only met her a few times. Izuku showed him a new picture almost daily, but Hayato could never get over how adorable the chubby-cheeked girl was.
“I nearly cried!” Izuku told him, grinning. “I even texted a little video to All Might, and he just sent a video back of him crying! Gah,I wish Hikari could have heard (First Name)’s voice! They sound so much alike, even if Hikari’s just a baby!”
“You have a bunch of videos, right? Why not show them to her?” Hayato asked curiously,Izuku shaking his head.
“I promised (First Name) that I wouldn’t let Hikari watch them until she asks about her mother herself.” Izuku said,Hayato nodding and sighing.
Hikari had Katsuki nearly in tears when she called him ‘Kacchan’ a month later, and Shoto had refused to give her back to Izuku for nearly three hours after she called him ‘ShoSho’.
I could tell you she was quite the mixture
Of a mama and a shaman and a fiery pistol
Two years went by,and Izuku found himself constantly worrying about his daughter. Ochaco had returned to being his sidekick since Hikari was finally old enough for preschool, but Izuku was particularly useless during the first week after Hikari entered school.
“Deku,I’m sure Hikari’s doing fine.” Hayato told his boss, the green-haired boy shaking his head.
“But what if one of the kids there is mean to her? Or if her teacher is secretly mean to her?” Izuku asked worriedly.
“It’s Hikari! If anyone is mean to her, they’ll have to answer to more than twenty of the best heroes! I’m sure nobody is that stupid!” Hayato told him,Izuku sighing.
“I guess so.. Everyone said they were throwing her a party this weekend, but I can’t seem to calm down.” The green-haired boy said.
“For the Symbol of Peace, you’re definitely troublesome..” Hayato muttered,Izuku punching his shoulder playfully and letting out a laugh.
The day of the party came before Izuku even realized it,the boy holding his daughter close as he carried the three-year-old into Momo’s mansion.
“Hikari,Deku! We’ve been waiting for you two!” Momo greeted them happily.
“Sorry we’re late,Hikari threw a little tantrum over not being able to wear her rain boots.” Izuku told Momo, chuckling as he held his daughter close.
“Papa, put me down.” Hikari demanded,Izuku reluctantly setting her down. The girl had chosen her own outfit for the party, her skirt and tights covered in kittens. He had managed to convince her not to wear her favorite rain boots to the party, but had to compromise on letting her wear her favorite (Favorite Color) shoes and her favorite hoodie in exchange. The cat-eared hoodie was a bit baggy on her,but it just served to make her look even cuter,so Izuku hadn’t been too upset at compromising with her. “Thank you.” She told her father, trying her best to look mature for now.
“Of course,Hikari.” Izuku said, chuckling as he watched the girl shake Momo’s hand. She had apparently seen some of the parents shake her teacher’s hand earlier that week,so she was trying her best to act like them.
“Hi,Momo.” Hikari said,Momo covering her mouth to stop herself from squealing over how cute the toddler was.
“Hey,Hikari. Katsuki and Shoto are over by the drinks if you wanna go greet them.” Momo said, trying her best to take the toddler seriously. Hikari nodded and walked over to them,Momo laughing once she was sure the child wouldn’t be able to hear her.
“Kacchan,ShoSho,hello.” Hikari greeted her favorite ‘uncles’ happily. She had spent the whole week practicing her greetings, something her father had been bragging to everyone about.
“Hey there, brat. How was your first week of preschool?” Katsuki asked her, patting her head.
“It fun.” Hikari told him, giggling as she looked up at him happily.
“Did you make any friends?” Shoto asked, the girl nodding excitedly.
“I made bunch!” Hikari bragged,Katsuki thinking she was absolutely adorable.
“If anyone picks on you, just tell me and I’ll blast them away, got it?” The blond asked,Hikari nodding and grinning up at him happily.
“Hikari!!” Denki shouted as he scooped the girl up,the girl giggling and looking up at her ‘uncle’.
“Pika!” Hikari said happily, her eyes sparkling as she stared up at him. “Where’s Toshi?”
“Ah,Hitoshi’s hiding in the corner. Want me to take you to him..?” Denki asked,Hikari nodding and grinning.
“Hey there,Hikari.” Hitoshi greeted her when she was set down in front of him by his boyfriend. “It’s been a while, huh?”
“Mhm! How Mr.Fluffers?” Hikari asked him curiously,Hitoshi chuckling as he ruffled her hair.
“He’s doing really good, but he misses you,so you should come visit sometime soon.” The purple-haired boy told her. He had adopted ‘Mr.Fluffers’ last year and sent a picture of the kitten to Izuku for help naming him,but it was Hikari who had decided on the name.
“I will, promise!” Hikari grinned, holding her pinky out. Hitoshi smiled a little as he wrapped his own pinky around her tiny one, nodding.
“I’ll tell him that, then.” He said,Hikari just grinning at him happily before she waddled off to go greet the others.
The party went well until Denki stupidly pointed out how Hikari’s shoes were (Favorite Color) and mentioned how it had been (First Name)’s favorite color as well. The girl paused at the mention of her mother, but she didn’t make a comment on it. She continued to unwrap her presents. One of her favorite presents was the one Denki and Hitoshi had gotten her, since it was a giant cat plush that was her size. Her absolute favorite present, however, was Katsuki’s present for her. The stuffed grenade was the perfect size for her,and she refused to put it down for the rest of the party, which made everyone laugh. Katsuki was cocky that his gift for the toddler had been her absolute favorite, glad that his ‘niece’ liked his present enough to not want to put it down.
That night, before bed,Hikari decided to ask her father a question about her grandmother. “Papa, what was nanny like?” She asked sleepily.
“Well.. I’m not sure how to describe my mother, but she was a really good person.. She was a great mother, and whenever I’d get hurt when I was little, she’d always put band-aids all over me and kiss my boo-boos better.” Izuku told her, sitting on the edge of her bed with a gentle smile.
“Like you do when I get hurt..?” Hikari asked, trying her best to stay awake.
“Yeah, but she gave even better kisses!” Izuku joked, making her giggle quietly. “She was also super strong, and even Kacchan’s mom was afraid of her temper.”
“Really..? Even Mimi was?” Hikari asked softly. She had met the woman a few times during trips to the grocery store, and Katsuki had told her plenty of stories involving his ‘old hag’,so part of her was in disbelief that someone could scare the fiery woman.
“Of course! Your grandmother was wonderful,Hikari..” Izuku told her, smiling down at her. “Now get some sleep, okay?” He asked softly, kissing her forehead gently. The girl just squeezed her stuffed grenade and nodded, snuggling into her blankets happily as she quickly fell asleep.
Truth is, she's right there in you
She's a part of you, you don't have a choice
A week after the party,Izuku got a call from Hikari’s teacher, who told him that he needed to pick her up immediately. He told Hayato to finish the patrols for him and rushed off to pick her up.
Hikari was crying when Izuku got to the school, the boy picking her up and looking at her teacher. “Mind telling me what happened?” He asked, holding his daughter protectively and rubbing her back as she sobbed into his shoulder.
“I was reading a story about families today and she started crying and saying she wanted to see you.” The man told Izuku, who just nodded as he tried to calm his daughter down.
“Thank you for calling me.” He said, grabbing Hikari’s bag as he carried her out of the school. “Hikari,it’s okay now.. You don’t have to cry anymore.” He told her gently, not completely sure why his daughter was crying over a story.
“But.. But rabbit.. Lost family.. Gone..” Hikari sniffled, wiping at her eyes as she looked up at him.
“The rabbit in the story lost his family?” Izuku asked, the girl nodding as she tried to calm down. “Did it make you think of nanny and mama?” He asked,Hikari nodding as she sniffled.
“Mama gone.. Nanny gone..” Hikari said, looking down. She wanted to see her mother and her grandmother outside of just pictures, the girl getting upset when her father laughed. “It not funny!”
“You’re right,you’re right.. I’m sorry,it’s just..” Izuku laughed,looking down at her with a grin. “Well,you’re nanny isn’t gone,and neither is your mother,because they’re right there in you.”
“Where?” Hikari asked, looking down at herself in confusion.
“They’re both in your heart,Hikari. You love them, right?” Izuku asked, the little girl nodding quickly. “Then you don’t have a choice! You’re stuck with them forever!”
“Forever..?” Hikari asked, staring up at him now.
“They’ll always be a part of you,Hikari, because they’re family.. Even if you can’t see them, they’re here in our hearts.” Izuku told her, kissing her forehead. “So don’t cry anymore, okay? They’ll never be gone.”
“Okay..” Hikari said quietly, gripping onto him tightly.
“How about we get some icecream,hm?” Izuku asked, the girl perking up and nodding at that.
My dear, you will feel her
In your mind, you will hear her
“Papa,am I like nanny?” Hikari asked curiously after school one day,Izuku nodding and laughing.
“You’re a lot like her,Hikari, and you’re a lot like your mama, too.” The green-haired boy told her. “They’re both parts of who we are, remember?”
“Yeah..” Hikari said, squeezing her father’s hand as they walked.
“They both influence both of us,you know? I can still feel your mother next to me sometimes, and I can still hear your grandmother telling me that I’m her hero.” Izuku told her, smiling down at her. His wife had been his whole world, but Hikari was all that he had left.
“I don’t.” Hikari told him, frowning. She never felt like her mother was there, and she never heard her grandmother speaking to her.
“Of course you do,Hikari, you just don’t realize it yet. Your mother is.. She’s like your favorite blanket, keeping you warm and safe all night. And your nana is like that little voice that tells you not to do something that could get you hurt, like when you’re playing on the playground.” Izuku told her, chuckling a bit. “They’re always with us,okay Hikari?”
“Okay papa..” The little girl muttered, gripping his hand tighter as she kept walking.
And if she could use words, use words
“Kacchan,I need your help.. Hikari’s been asking about my mom more and more recently, and I’m running out of things to tell her..” Izuku pleaded over the phone a week later, the blond sighing.
“And? What do you want me to do about it?” Katsuki asked. He didn’t know what he could possibly say that could satiate Hikari’s curiosity about her family, and he doubted anything could actually make her stop asking questions.
“Well you’ve met my mother plenty of times before,so can I bring her over to meet up with you and your mother? You two could help answer her questions, right?” Izuku asked,Katsuki just sighing.
“Fine.. I have time Wednesday off,so I guess I can spare time to help you out,you damn Deku.” The blond said,Izuku thanking him.
She'd say "You're beautiful, but don't you overplay that card"
When Wednesday rolled around,Izuku took Hikari with him to visit the Bakugo household, where Hikari questioned them about her grandmother.
“What was Nana like?” She asked,Masaru the one to speak first.
“Your grandma,Inko.. She was a really nice woman who loved everyone more than anything.. If she could talk to you right now, she’d probably tell you that you’re beautiful, but that looks aren’t the only thing that matters.” The blond told her,Hikari staring at him in shock.
She'd say "You're spiritual, so don't ever forget that part"
“That old lady.. Even when I was younger and I pushed your father around, she’d always tell me the same thing.” Katsuki said,Hikari staring at him in confusion.
“What?” She asked curiously.
“She’d always tell me that I’ve got spirit, and I should never forget that.. So if she could talk to you right now, she’d probably say that you’re spiritual,so don’t ever for that part of yourself.” The blond said. He would usually never tell anyone this kind of stuff, but he knew that Hikari needed to hear it.
She'd say "You are so much stronger than you even think you are
Let your heart, let your heart lead the way"
“I knew your grandma longer than anyone, and I was pretty hotheaded back in the day.” Mitsuki said, laughing a little. “When I told her about how anxious I was after I fell in love with Masaru, she told me I was way stronger than I would ever realize, and that I should follow my heart. So,if she met you, she’d definitely tell you that you’re stronger than you even think you are,and that you should let your heart lead the way.”
That's what she'd say
Hikari began to cry as she listened to them talk about her grandmother, wiping at her eyes and sniffling. Izuku had begun to cry as well, hugging his daughter tightly.
“That’s what your grandma would say,Hikari..” He said softly, rubbing her back as she cried into his shoulder.
“What would mama say?” Hikari asked quietly after a while, sniffling softly. Getting people to talk about her grandmother wasn’t nearly as hard as getting them to talk about her mother was,but she was hoping the Katsuki’s would be able to tell her something.
“Do you really want to talk about your mama?” Izuku asked her softly,Hikari nodding and looking up at him.
“Yeah..” She said softly.
“Let’s call everyone and meet up with them at Momo’s house, alright? I can’t tell you everything about your mother on my own.” Izuku told her,Hikari nodding a little. Izuku thanked the Bakugo’s for helping him with Hikari, leaving soon after.
That's what she'd say
It took a month for schedules to align well enough for Izuku and his friends to meet up at Momo’s house.
“How come it’s so important for us to meet up today?” Denki asked Hitoshi, who elbowed him and told him to hush because Izuku was making an announcement. Nobody other than Katsuki,Momo, and Izuku knew what the purpose of the ‘emergency regrouping’ was,so they were all a little on edge.
“Hikari wants to know what you all know about (First Name).. And she wants to know about what (First Name) would say if she could see her right now.” Izuku told everyone, who instantly became anxious. None of them had spoken about (First Name) since her death, mainly since they were all anxious about how Hikari would react to hearing about her mother. None of them were really ready to acknowledge the fact that (First Name) was no longer there with them, but they knew it was important to Hikari.
She said, "Take care of your sisters, I mean their whole world
“When (First Name) told me she was pregnant with you,Hikari.. She told me that I needed to take care of everyone for her,and keep making them happy.” Momo said. She was the first one brave enough to speak out,the girl clenching her fists as she spoke. “Your mother.. Your mother was really brave,Hikari, just like you..”
“Momo,Momo! Guess what?” (First Name) had asked excitedly as she hugged her friend, her (Eye Color) eyes shining as she looked up at her.
“What is it,(First Name)? It’s been a while since I’ve seen you so excited.. Since Deku asked you out,I think.” Momo asked, looking down at her friend with a laugh.
“I’m pregnant!” (First Name) said, grinning at her.
“Have you told Deku yet?!” Momo asked, her eyes widening. (First Name) shook her head and grinned, winking.
“You’re my bestfriend,so I had to tell you first!” The girl said,Momo laughing a little.
“He’s gonna cry about it,you know?” The ravenette girl asked,(First Name) nodding and grinning.
“Of course he will! But you’ve gotta take care of telling the other girls, alright? And record their reactions, okay?” (First Name) asked excitedly,Momo just laughing as she nodded.
“Fine,fine.. But you owe me one, alright?” Momo asked,(First Name) nodding and grinning at her.
“I should get back home before Izuku gets home and freaks out over me not being there.” She said. “I’m trusting you, okay?”
“I’ll handle it.” Momo promised, watching her leave with a laugh.
Momo had recorded all of the other girls reacting to the news that (First Name) was pregnant, but the whole class laughed when they found out Izuku had passed out from crying after finding out the news.
Spend your days tryna lift them other girls
“(First Name) was a really good person,Hikari, and she told me that I should spend my days lifting up other girls because I’m strong.. It made me really happy that day.” Ochaco told the girl, rubbing the back of her neck as she spoke. “Your mother was really strong,Hikari, just like you are.”
“Ochaco, you’re really tough, huh?” (First Name) asked as the brunette held her up. Deku had left for work hours earlier, but he had sent Ochaco to check up on (First Name) because he had a bad feeling.
“(First Name),now really isn’t the time to be complimenting me.. You should focus on getting to bed.” Ochaco muttered, helping the girl into her bedroom.
“I know,I know.. I’m sorry that I passed out in the bathroom like that, but this morning sickness has been kicking my ass..” (First Name) muttered, leaning against Ochaco and grinning tiredly. “You spend your days lifting everyone up.. You’re really tough,Ochaco.”
“I’m not tough..” Ochaco said, helping her onto the bed and pulling the blanket over her.
“You’re really strong,Ochaco.. Thank you for being here.” (First Name) said softly, already starting to doze off. She had collapsed from exhaustion earlier, and Ochaco had found her in the bathroom,so Ochaco wasn’t surprised to see how tired she was. “A lot of girls look up to you.. Because you’re awesome..” She muttered as she fell asleep,Ochaco just smiling as she watched over her.
You came with love, a purpose, and your mother's curls
“(First Name) told me that she was really scared when she was pregnant with you,but that she was really happy at the same time.. I couldn’t really understand why she went through with having you when it was putting herself at risk, but I can understand it now.. You came with love,a purpose, and your mother’s curls,Hikari.. You look exactly like Deku, but your eyes are just like hers.” Mina told the girl.
“(First Name),aren’t you scared?” Mina had asked two months into (First Name)’s pregnancy.
“Scared..? Of what?” (First Name) asked, raising an eyebrow as she looked at her friend curiously.
“I’m not really scared of much,but.. But if I were you,I’d be terrified of everything right now..” Mina told her nervously. (First Name) just laughed and put a hand on the small bump that had grown there.
“Of course I’m scared, but I’m really happy at the same time.” She admitted,Mina just staring at her.
“It makes you happy to be like this..? Even if it can kill you..?” Mina asked,(First Name) nodding and grinning at her.
“A baby is a baby, you know? Of course I’m excited, and nervous, and scared, but this baby.. This baby is already surrounded by love, and they have yet to even be born,so I know everything will be okay no matter what.. Whether something goes wrong,or whether everything goes right, they’ll be surrounded by people that will love them.. Isn’t that wonderful,Mina?” She asked, rubbing her stomach a little. Mina just stared at her in amazement, before she slowly nodded.
I'll be with you every step of the way
“Hikari, your mother loved teasing me about my Quirk, even though it wasn’t the nicest thing to do. Whenever I saw her during her pregnancy, she’d always make jokes, and I think you have a similar humor to hers.” Iida said.
“Iida! Legboy! Legboy,I have to tell you something!” (First Name) called out,Iida sighing as he looked over at her.
“What is it,(First Name)?” He asked, thinking she’d try to make another joke.
“I’ll be with you every step of the way.” (First Name) said,Iida surprised that she hadn’t made a joke until he realized she’d said the word ‘step’.
“(First Name),that wasn’t funny.” He said, even though he let out a chuckle.
“Of course it was funny, that’s why you’re laughing!” (First Name) said, winking cheekily. “I’m not kidding, though,Iida. I’m on your side, even though I still think your hero name should be Legboy.” She added, airchopping with a grin. Iida just stared at her, before he began to laugh at how silly she looked when she mocked him.
Don't live your life tryna blend in, stick out
“Hikari, your mother was really good at giving people advice, and she knew better than anyone else exactly how anxious I’ve always been about being a hero.. I’ve always been insecure, thinking my Quirk might not be enough to save people, but she told me that I shouldn’t live my life trying to blend in with everyone else just because I’m anxious.. I owe a lot to her.” Kyouka told the girl, smiling. “You’re just as kind as she was.”
“Jirou, let’s dance!” (First Name) had said while they were listening to music one day. She was three months pregnant, but the girl hadn’t slowed down much.
“I’m good.. I’m not that good at dancing..” Kyouka said nervously, blushing a little when the girl grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet.
“Don’t live your life trying to blend in,stick out! You’re an amazing musician, and you’re a better dancer than I am,so don’t just give up without trying!” (First Name) told her, spinning her around with a giggle. Kyouka couldn’t help but smile as she danced with her friend, laughing a little when (First Name) had to sit down after she’d gotten too dizzy to keep dancing.
Trust your gut and don't you get into those doubts
“Your mother told me once that I shouldn’t listen to the people who talked badly about my Quirk,so I owe her for that.” Hitoshi told Hikari. He wasn’t too big on talking about how close of a friendship he’d shared with (First Name),but he felt like Hikari deserved to know. “You’re just as wonderful as she was.”
“Toshi! Toshi, can you use your Quirk on me?” (First Name) had asked during her fourth month of pregnancy, the boy raising an eyebrow.
“Why would you want me to use my Quirk on you?” He asked. “Doesn’t it scare you?”
“Of course not. I can’t fall asleep,so I was wondering if you could use your Quirk to make me fall asleep or not.” (First Name) told him, grinning.
“Are you an idiot?” Hitoshi asked, staring at her.
“Yeah, but I’m also pregnant and tired. I trust my gut,so you should trust your gut as well and stop doubting yourself.” (First Name) said,Hitoshi just sighing.
“Fine.. (First Name),what’s your favorite color?” The boy asked.
“It’s (Favorite Color)!” (First Name) said,Hitoshi using his Quirk.
“Go to bed and get some sleep.” He ordered, watching as she waddled to her bedroom with a gentle smile on his face. He loved using his Quirk to help people, and even if helping (First Name) sleep wasn’t the most heroic way to use it,he found himself proud of his Quirk.
Remember God is like the sun, he always comes out
“I was never all that close with (First Name),but she did pray with me once, even though she wasn’t that religious.. I respected her because of it,and she often let me pray for you,Hikari.” Mashirao admitted, rubbing the back of his neck.
“(First Name),how are you feeling?” Mashirao had asked her nervously one day. The girl had begun to slow down during the sixth month of her pregnancy, and she didn’t seem to have much spunk in her that day.
“I’m doing alright.. How about you,Mashirao?” She asked, the boy sitting down beside her.
“I’m doing fine,I guess.. I was wondering about whether or not you’d be okay with me praying for you and the baby..” Mashirao said nervously. He understood if the girl rejected his offer, but he wanted to feel like he’d helped her in some way.
“Of course you can pray for us,Mashirao.” (First Name) said, smiling at him. “What’s that one thing you used to say sometimes..? Ah,I remember now! You said God was like the sun, right?”
“Yeah,I used to say that pretty often..” Mashirao said, glad that the girl had agreed to let him pray for her. He pressed his hands together and began to say a prayer,(First Name) watching him in peaceful silence as the boy whispered his prayers.
Just when you think the dark's here to stay"
“(First Name) always made everyone feel better if we were sad.. She told me once that the darkness always goes away, and that the sun will always rise even after a stormy night.” Denki told Hikari,a bit embarrassed to admit that he had cried one day because of a storm when he was supposed to watch her.
“Denki, what’s wrong?” (First Name) had asked, the boy shaking his head.
“You have to stay away! I can’t control my Quirk during storms!” The boy said, his whole body trembling as he sniffled. He didn’t want to accidentally electrocute her,but (First Name) didn’t seem afraid of him at all.
“I’m not gonna just leave you alone like that,Denki. Take a few deep breaths, okay? The storm will pass before you know it,and the sun will rise like always.” (First Name) said, the boy taking a couple of deep breaths. She had stopped approaching him,but even hearing her there helped soothe most of his anxiety.
“Thank you..” He said quietly once he had finally calmed down, the electricity no longer buzzing around him.
“Of course.” (First Name) said, grinning at him cheekily. “You’ve been helping me out since I can’t really pick anything up right now,so of course I’ll help you calm down when you’re anxious over a storm.” She said, motioning down at her protruding stomach. She was eight months into the pregnancy now,and she couldn’t even bend over anymore.
My dear, you will feel her
In your mind, you will hear her
“(First Name) was awesome,Hikari. She was super manly, and she probably could’ve kicked my ass while she was pregnant with you.” Eijiro told her, grinning cheekily at the little girl. “I can still feel the pain in my cheek from the last time she punched me,and I can still hear her yelling at me.”
“Eijiro, did you eat my chips?!” (First Name) asked angrily as she waddled towards him.
“Which ones were yours? Deku said I could eat anything while I’m babysitting you today.” Eijiro said, the girl letting out a growl.
“The cheesy chips! The ones that said ‘don’t eat’ on them! You ate them, didn’t you?!” (First Name) asked angrily.
“Shit, that’s what you meant by that note? I thought that was just Deku telling me they weren’t good or something,so I tried a few and then ended up eating them all..” Eijiro said,(First Name) punching him as hard as he could.
“You asshole! I’ve been craving those all day!” She shouted, the boy wincing and pouting as he rubbed his cheek.
“Alright, alright,I’ll just go pick up some more, okay? It’s not a big deal.” Eijiro said,(First Name) just glaring at him.
“Will you buy two of them?” She asked,Eijiro nodding. He knew better than to test her patience, because even if she was nearly eight months pregnant, the girl still terrified him.
“I’ll buy three big bags, alright?” He asked,(First Name) cheering up at that.
“Thanks,Eijiro!” She said happily, grinning at him.
And if she could use words, use words
“Your mother was a very kind woman.” Kouji said quietly, unable to force the proper words he wanted to say out of his mouth.
“Kouji, can you get that cat outside to come over?” (First Name) had asked him one day,the boy nodding shyly as he called the cat over. The cat was rather skinny and didn’t like being near them, but (First Name) still offered it a little plate of food and a small bowl of water with a grin.
“You like animals that much?” Kouji asked her quietly, the girl nodding and grinning at him.
“Cats are one of my favorites!” She told him,the boy nodding and smiling at her slightly.
She'd say "You're beautiful, but don't you overplay that card"
“(First Name) always complimented people, but I think she was one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met.” Tsuyu told Hikari, letting out a little ribbit.
“Tsu! Did you see how Tooru helped those heroes take down that group?! Infiltration missions look like so much fun!” (First Name) had asked the girl. She was only a month pregnant back then, but she was already suffering from morning sickness.
“Yeah. They said she got the information that led to the arrest, right?” Tsuyu asked,(First Name) nodding and grinning. The girl was practically glowing, and Tsuyu couldn’t help but call her beautiful.
“I think you’re even prettier,Tsuyu! You’re the best!” (First Name) told her, grinning cheekily at her friend.
She'd say "You're spiritual, so don't ever forget that part"
“I’ve already told you this once, but that idiot always told everyone they had good spirits.” Katsuki said, reluctant to be soft when everyone was around. “(First Name) was a good person.”
“Katsuki, why are you so upset?” (First Name) had asked while the boy was babysitting her during her ninth month.
“Shut up. That damn nerd owes me one for watching your dumbass.” Katsuki snapped,(First Name) pouting until she got an idea. She grabbed the blond’s hand and pressed it against her stomach, the male letting out a growl. He fell silent when he felt a kick, his eyes widening as he stared at her stomach in shock. “Did.. Did that thing just kick?”
“She felt your hand,so she got excited and kicked.. Her name is gonna be ‘Hikari’,not ‘that thing’,so why don’t you try to call her name?” (First Name) asked, grinning. Katsuki gave her a glare, though the boy didn’t pull his hand away from her stomach.
“I don’t think it’s cool or anything,I’m just keeping my hand there because your skin is so warm.” Katsuki lied as he stared down at her stomach. He hadn’t been around pregnant women often, and none of them had trusted the hothead enough to let him touch their stomach,so he felt odd. He was scared he might somehow hurt the baby,or that somehow the kid would hate him or something, but he didn’t hate the feeling of the little kicks he felt. “So her name’s gonna be Hikari?” Katsuki asked after a while,(First Name) nodding as she let out a giggle.
“Her name means ‘light’,because she’s definitely gonna light up everyone’s lives.” She told Katsuki, the boy just letting out a ‘tch’ as he finally pulled his hand away.
“Just get some rest, you dumbass.” The blond muttered as he turned away,(First Name) smiling a little as she laid back down on the bed.
She'd say "You are so much stronger than you even think you are
Let your heart, let your heart lead the way"
“Your mother would tell you to let your heart lead the way.” Shouto told Hikari. “Because she’s told me that before.”
“Shouto,do you wanna feel her kick?” (First Name) had asked during her sixth month of pregnancy. Shouto was going to reject the offer, but (First Name) grabbed his hand and put it on her stomach before he could react.
“It’s strange.” Was the only thing the boy could say when he felt a little kick, staring at her stomach with a blank expression.
“Are you scared of babies?” (First Name) asked curiously, the boy looking at her in confusion.
“Why would you think that?” He asked, not understanding why the woman could ever think that.
“Well,I’ve seen you holding babies before, and you always act like you’re gonna break them or something.. Is it ‘cause of your father or something?” She asked,Shouto shaking his head.
“It’s because they’re fragile and weak..” The boy admitted.
“Well you won’t break her.” (First Name) told him, grinning. “Babies are way stronger than you probably think they are,and if you get anxious when holding one, just let your heart lead the way.”
“Let my heart lead the way?” He asked, looking at her in confusion.
“Do what you feel like doing. If you don’t know what the best thing to do is,ask for help. If nobody gives you an answer, just do what you think is right.” She explained, rubbing her stomach.
“And what if I don’t know what’s right?” Shouto asked.
“You’ll know.” (First Name) said, smiling at him confidently. Shouto just nodded and went silent, not sure what to say now.
That's what she'd say
Hikari stared up at all of the adults in silence, before she just started to cry. Hearing stories of her mother, who she’d never met before, broke her heart. She felt like she had taken the woman away from everyone, and that scared her.
“Oi,why are you crying, you shithead?” Katsuki asked, his own eyes filling with tears. He wiped at his face quickly, everyone else tearing up as well.
“Mama.. Mama gone.. My fault..” Hikari sniffled out,Izuku shaking his head as he scooped his daughter up.
“Hikari, nobody will ever blame you for (First Name)’s death, okay? Everyone here loves you very, very much.” He told her, wiping his own tears away as he held his daughter close. “We all love you so much more than you could ever know..” He said, the girl sobbing into his shoulder. The others were desperately trying to contain their own emotions, though most of the girls were just sobbing and hugging each-other. Kirishima patted Katsuki’s back, while Denki cried into Hitoshi’s chest and Hitoshi forced back his tears as he buried his face in Denki’s hair. Iida was directing Kouji and Mashirao to a ‘crying corner’ as tears streamed down his face,Kouji wiping at his eyes while Mashirao just began to pray as he cried.
Hikari cried herself to sleep in her father’s arms,Izuku holding her close as he sniffled. “I’m.. I’m gonna take her home.. It’s about time I show her those videos..” He told the others,Katsuki the only one deciding to speak.
“If she’s still crying by tomorrow,I’m gonna kick your ass,Deku..” The blond said, wiping at his eyes. Izuku just nodded and left, taking a cab home since he didn’t feel like walking.
That's what she'd say
Izuku carried Hikari into the house, holding her close as he carried her up to her room and laid her down carefully. He walked out of the room silently to pull the videos up,staring down at the c.d. He had wanted to hide everything from Hikari until she was a little older, but he couldn’t stand the thought of his daughter blaming herself for (First Name)’s death.
He waited for nearly an hour after setting everything up,perking up when he heard Hikari finally coming downstairs to look for him.
“Hey there, princess.” He greeted her softly,Hikari sniffling as she waddled over to him. She had started to tear up again, but Izuku just pulled her close to him and pointed at the t.v. “You recognize her, right?” He asked. The video was paused,(First Name) grinning at the camera.
“It’s mama..” Hikari muttered,Izuku nodding and smiling.
“Your mother recorded a bunch of videos back when she was pregnant, and I thought you might wanna see them. Do you wanna watch them,or should we wait?” He asked.
“Watch.” Hikari said, gripping onto him. Izuku nodded and smiled as he started the video happily.
She'd say, "Listen to your daddy
“Hey,Izuku! If you’re watching this, that means things probably didn’t go well after all,and I’m probably dead. That’s fine, though,as long as the baby’s alright!” (First Name) said happily, smiling at the camera. “Ne,Izuku, are they beautiful..? How much time has passed..? Are you watching this with them..?” I have a lot of questions for you.. I’m kinda scared, you know? About all of this, and about what you watching this means.. When I told you about it,you got really anxious and you cried a lot,you know? All Might was really happy when I told him about it,especially since I asked him to be the baby’s godfather. I also asked Aizawa, and they both agreed! I was absolutely shocked.” She said, giggling a little. “I was really happy when I found out,but my dad said the chances of me surviving giving birth are gonna be low,so I decided to make this. I’m gonna make a video every month, and I pray you never actually watch any of them.. If our baby is there with you right now, tell them I said ‘listen to your daddy!’,and that I love them very much.”
In his voice, you will hear me
“Hey,Izuku! It’s month two now,and things are going well so far! I’ve been getting my ass kicked by morning sickness, but it’s nice to see you worrying over me all the time.. But since that time Ochaco found me curled up in the bathroom,I’ve become a burden.. You don’t go to work unless someone stays with me,but the world still needs their Symbol of Peace,so everyone has been helping watch over me.. Even Katsuki’s become a bit softer, though he always complains about it! I miss working with you,and I miss seeing you all the time,though.. Ne,Izuku, talk to the baby a lot, okay? Make sure they grow up big and strong, and make sure they are happy.. I’m really happy right now,you know? I know they’re gonna grow up big and strong as long as you’re there for them.. Thank you,Izuku.”
I know he will sing my song to you
“Hey,Izuku! It’s month three now,and you’ve been really cuddly since my bump has gotten bigger, you know? Whenever I move around you wake up and get anxious about it,but it’s really cute,so I guess I can’t complain too much.. We’ll be able to find out her gender soon enough, and I’m excited, but I’ve already got a bit of an idea for her name.. I’m gonna wait a while longer before I tell you,though.. Ah,I’m so excited..! I wonder if you’d sing to them..? Nah,I know you’ll sing to them, even though you can’t sing lullabies well, because you sing to me sometimes when I get scared..” (First Name) said, grinning at the camera. “You’ll both be happy, right,Izuku?”
And know that I'm happy
“Hey,Izuku! It’s month four now,and guess what? We found out we’re having a baby girl! You cried when you found out,but you didn’t pass out this time! I was so happy that I cried as well, though, and we went shopping to look at all kinds of things.. The very first thing I bought for her was a little jacket that was made based off of your suit, you know? I hope you dress her in it at least once..” (First Name) said, giggling. “I hope she likes heroes.. And I hope both of you are really happy, because today was one of the best days of my life.”
And you'll always have me
“Hey,Izuku! Guess what? It’s been five months now,and yesterday Katsuki came over to watch me. He got really happy when he felt Hikari kick, but he tried to act like he wasn’t happy at all. It was actually really funny.. I wish I’d been able to record it,but he would kill me if I had.. Can you give Hikari a kiss for me? And maybe tell her that she’ll always have me? I love both of you a lot!”
“I'm watching everything you do"
“Hey,Izuku! Things haven’t gone too well this month.. It’s been six months now,and I’ve been feeling more and more tired every day,but it’s nice having everyone over all the time.. Mashirao asked to pray for us yesterday, and today Shouto felt her kick. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look that afraid before, you know? He was acting like he would break her,so I told him that our Hikari wouldn’t fall apart that easily.. It still feels weird talking to a camera, but I’m doing this to let you guys know that even if I die,I’m watching everything you do..”
She'd say "You're beautiful, but don't you overplay that card"
“Hey,Izuku! It’s month seven now,and yesterday we finished building the nursery.. If Aizawa and Mic hadn’t come over to help us build it,we would have destroyed the crib for sure.. Eri was really excited when she got to feel Hikari kick, but she was worried that she could hurt her.. Eri reminds me a lot of Shouto sometimes, but I won’t ever tell them that.. Anyways, there was something your mother had told me back in the day that I want Hikari to know.. Inko once told me that I’m beautiful, but that I shouldn’t overplay that card.. If there was one thing I’d want Hikari to know,it’s that.”
She'd say "You're spiritual, so don't ever forget that part"
“Hey,Izuku! It’s month eight now,and I had to help Denki calm down because of a thunderstorm last night.. He’s really silly, but he’s a good friend, you know? I wonder how he and Hitoshi are doing right now.. They’re really cute together, you know? Have you told Hikari about their relationship yet? If you haven’t,then listen up! Sometimes, two boys fall in love, and sometimes two girls fall in love! It doesn’t matter what’s in their pants, because the only thing that matters in love is being loved back! Oh,and spirits matter! If someone is strong-spirited,don’t let them go! That reminds me of another thing that your mother had told me once, you know..? She told me that I’m spiritual,so I had better never forget that part of my personality.. Make sure Hikari knows that, alright?”
She'd say "You are so much stronger than you even think you are
Let your heart, let your heart lead the way"
“Hey,Izuku.. It’s month nine now,and last night you left the house after we got into a fight. You kept telling me that you’re not strong enough to let me go,but I don’t think you realize that you’re so much stronger than you even think you are.. I told Shouto something similar to this once, but when it comes to raising Hikari, let your heart lead the way, okay? No matter how you raise her,I know you’ll both be perfectly fine..” (First Name) said, grinning at the camera tiredly. Her eyes were bloodshot from crying, but she was trying her best to look happy. “I’m sorry that I’m leaving you,Izuku, but I’m not leaving you alone.. Hikari and everyone else will be right there with you. All Might told me that he wouldn’t know what to tell you after I’m gone, but I know you’ll be fine.. Please,Izuku, just be happy with Hikari.. Don’t be afraid to fall in love again, and hug and kiss Hikari goodnight and goodmorning for me everyday, okay? And Hikari, listen to your papa, alright? He can be a little stupid sometimes, and he’s obsessed with his hero work, but be patient with him, alright? Give him lots of hugs and kisses, because I know he’s probably gonna cry after watching this.. I love both of you so much..” She said softly, giving the biggest grin she could as the tears rolled down her face and the camera cut off.
That's what she'd say
Hikari and Izuku were left in silence as the video ended, the only noise coming from their sobbing. Hikari was crying over the fact that her mother, the woman who had died in order to give birth to her, actually loved her more than anything. Izuku was crying over the fact that his beloved (First Name),the woman who he would have given anything up for,had truly been happy giving up everything for Hikari. Izuku just held Hikari tightly, the girl eventually tiring herself out from sobbing so much.
“I love you,Hikari..” He whispered quietly as he tucked the girl into bed carefully, kissing her forehead gently. She was fast asleep,Izuku just watching over her for a while longer before he went to his own room and sat down.
That's what she'd say
“(First Name),why are you doing this? Why are you giving your life up for this? We can adopt a kid if you want a family!” Izuku had shouted at his girlfriend one day. During the second month of her pregnancy,(First Name)’s father had come over to warn her against going through with the pregnancy, and that was when Izuku had heard the news that the chances of her surviving were low.
“Let go,Izuku!” (First Name) shouted, shoving him back. “Why are you so angry?!”
“You’re seriously asking me that?! That.. That thing can kill you,and yet you’re calm about it?!” Izuku shouted at her angrily, cupping her face roughly and looking into her eyes. “I promised you I’d protect you no matter what, but I can’t protect you from that..”
“You don’t need to protect me from the baby,Izuku.. It’s our child, not a ‘thing’.. Please, stop looking at me like that..” (First Name) pleaded softly, looking up at him. “They aren’t doing anything wrong..”
“They’re going to kill you.. I’m not ready to lose you yet..” Izuku said softly. The boy had never been this terrified before. He was helpless, knowing fully well that his girlfriend could die because of his carelessness.
“I’m not going away,Izuku.. It’s gonna be okay, even if I die, okay? You’ll have the baby and everyone else.. You’ll never be alone,Izuku,so please.. Please love them just as much as you love me,okay?” (First Name) pleaded, the boy taking a shaky breath before he nodded.
Izuku hadn’t been able to genuinely be happy about the baby until he’d heard the heartbeat for the first time, and the noise made him swell with happiness. The fact that he would be a father had terrified him,and hearing the heartbeat terrified him even more. He wasn’t expecting himself to be so happy over the heartbeat of the baby, but he had gone home that night grinning.
Izuku sat in bed for hours in silence, recounting each and every day he had spent by (First Name)’s side before he laid down and just stared at the ceiling. She’d tell him to go to sleep if she saw him right now, which was the only reason the boy shut his eyes and tried to fall asleep. He knew that the sun would rise the next morning, and that he’d have to keep going through everyday with Hikari as the only living trace of (First Name),but Izuku was still happy because he knew his girlfriend was watching over him and his beloved Hikari.
