the sports festival begins
“Is everyone ready?! We’ll be entering soon!” Iida screamed as he entered the room full of his classmates sitting in anticipation.
Todoroki walked up to face the unsuspecting green haired boy and began to say “Midoriya looking at things objectively I’m stronger than you, but all might has his eye on you doesn’t he?”
As Kirishima went up to try and stop the possible fight brewing Mei couldn’t help but giggle, the table of her friends all turned to look at her with sheer confusion in their eyes. As Midoriya finished making his own points to the rest of the class, Mei offered up an explanation to her friends which was “it’s just so nonchalant to walk up to a classmate and be like ‘hey yo I’m gonna crush you’ like it just screams Katsuki energy and I didn’t know Todo had it in him” she whispered imitating Todoroki for part of her explanation.
Hey Todo what was that all about?
You heard what I said to the class didn’t you?
Yeah I did… umm good luck I guess

Bakugou proceeded to cuss her out while Kaminari asked “Did you have to give him a blowie for Katsuki privileges because I’ll do what I have to do” which then lead to Bakugou sending an explosion his way as the group made their way through the seemingly never-ending corridor to the arena.
“I’m just better than you baby, Katsuki likes me better than you and I’m also going to beat your ass today” Mei laughed as she raised her palms and Kaminari punched them as he stuck his tongue out at his friend.
Eventually they reached the arena and they were greeted with thousands of people screaming at them, Mei much like the rest of her classmates she was in awe as she spun around to get a proper view of everyone and then she turned to see Bakugou’s vicious smirk after Kirishima asked him if he was nervous and after he saw the “Bro your face is going to scare all the little kids watching”
“I think Midnight is the one who is going to be scaring kids” Kirishima commented.
It was at that moment Midnight announced that Bakugou would be saying a few words since he came first in the entrance exam, while everyone around him stared at him in both awe and disgust, Mei was beyond excited as she predicted this weeks ago and he didn’t listen to her. So before he made his way to the stage Mei was jumping up and down yelling ‘I told you so!’ while hitting his arm, Bakugou simply shook her off. As he stood in front of the mic Bakugou’s eyes scanned around the room and eventually landed on Mei, then to everyones dismay he confidently announced.
“I pledge that I will be number 1” The sheer screams of horror from their fellow classmates made her ears hurt, instead of being appalled by what he said Mei was smart enough to expect this from him. So Mei simply kept his gaze, smirked a little and gave her friend a slow clap and eventually let out a laugh, all while the entirety of the students on the arena were yelling at him for being over-confident.
Not bad Suki, not bad at all we’ve been here for less than 5 minutes and you’ve already made everyone hate us even more
I don’t give a shit what those extras think, I meant what I said and you better be there in the finals so I can beat your ass

The first challenge was announced to be an obstacle race, Mei secured a place at the front with the rest of her classmates but unlike them she wasn’t feeling any nerves, no she was buzzing with anticipation. Midnight yelled out ‘Start’ and Mei ran forward and let out a chuckle as she heard Aizawa being a reluctant commentator, oh how she adored her teacher.
Everyone was barging past each other and Mei was no stranger to playing dirty so she used her agility to grab onto the shoulders of the person in front of her and propelled herself over then and then elbowed her way forward. It was then that she felt the air suddenly drop by 20 degrees and she knew it was Todoroki sending out a preliminary ice attack, so she coated her feet with black mist in anticipation of the ice. A laugh left her mouth as she flew above all the frozen candidates and noticed that a bunch of her friends managed to escape as well and were already yelling at Todoroki all while trying to run on the ice, but that obviously didn’t work out very well as most of the escapees had to walk over the ice to avoid slipping. Mei created ice picks to go on the bottom of her shoes, since they would be less draining than mist running, and managed to outrun most of her classmates, seemed like her daily runs really did come in handy.
Eventually everyone arrived at the first obstacle which were the robots from the entrance exam, Present Mic was midway through announcing this stage when Mei decided to run for the robots. She used her imagination manipulation to create a black staircase in front of her that led Mei directly to the arm of the middle robot. She jumped as high as she could and then found herself on the middle of its arm, as it began to shake her off she bent down and punched her way through its outer armour and held on to that so that she wouldn’t fall off. After a fair bit of shaking it eventually came to a stop, Mei knew it wasn’t over and instead she saw one of the other machines raise their arm and bring it down with a tremendous force.
“Mei lookout!” Kaminari screamed at his friend while his eyes remained glued to her.
“Yeah I fucking got it!” the girl responded as she raised a force field with her mind as both her hands were still holding onto the robot so that she wouldn’t fall off it. With a quick glace behind her she now became aware of all the students watching her, now was not the time to fuck up otherwise she would’ve had to live with that embarrassment for the rest of her life. So she got to her feet and raised her hands to push against the force field hard enough that the robot who attacked her went flying into the nearby wall. Without taking a second to breathe Mei bent her legs in preparation to shoot off from the robot and go over its head, as soon as she left its hard metal body she heard Present Mic made another announcement.
“Seki Mei from 1-A, hey that rhymes! What an elegant display against the robots from our front-runner and look at those black eyes, you can tell she didn’t come here to play!”
“Of course she didn’t come here to play, it’s what you expect from one of the highest in her class and her eyes darken whenever she uses her quirk” Aizawa retorted in his normal bored voice. Mei felt herself smirk as she landed on the opposite side of the robots and started running. She felt the ground beneath her shift so with a look over her shoulder she saw that Todoroki had managed to freeze the robots and cause them to fall on the other students. ‘Damn that’s a dick move someone could’ve been seriously hurt’ Mei thought to herself as her pace increased and she noticed the second obstacle nearing in front of her.
Eventually she made it right up to the edge of the rocks and looked down, if she didn’t have a competition to win she would’ve jumped down for the thrill of it since Mei was a huge fan of heights. There were many different ways she could’ve completed this but she decided to simply teleport over to the other side and wait until some people start to catch up to her, her motive was partially petty just to show everyone she could be done with this in a second, but she also did want a minute to catch her breath since she was a long distance runner and not used to sprinting for so long. It wasn’t long before she saw Todoroki and Bakugou approaching her at pretty fast speeds. “Fuck you Mei there’s no way you’re beating me!” which was the first thing that came out of Bakugou’s mouth as he approached the other side, so Mei took that as a hint that she should start running again.
Just as she approached the final stage with the two boys following behind her Mei heard Present Mic announce that the final stage was to get over a mine field. Her first thought was to teleport herself over to the finish but Mei wanted to conserve her energy so much like the sheet of ice Todoroki produces to run over, Mei created a sheet of mist that was just 20cm above the ground but meant that she could easily run across without setting off a single bomb. While still in first place she heard her two friends bickering behind her so she took a second to tell them “If you two carry on behaving like children you’ll never catch up to me!” with a laugh and a ‘Fuck you’ from Bakugou Mei carried on running ahead at full speed.
Suddenly there was a monumental pink explosion from the back of the minefield and Mei noticed something green approaching her and within seconds she realised it was Midoriya, somehow he managed to propel himself forward just as he was losing speed by grabbing onto Bakugou and Todoroki and using their momentum to fuel his own. Once he was up and running and in second place, Mei stopped running and allowed her mist to move her down the course until she was side by side with Midoriya.
“That was really fucking clever using those bombs to make one super bomb, want a ride to the end?” Mei asked, no longer running but instead using the black mist as a hover board.
“I’ve got this!” Midoriya yelled out as he was clearly out of breath and with that Mei separated herself from him while still being neck and neck for first.
“Eraser the kids in your class are insane! What are you teaching them?!” Present mic roared.
“I didn’t do anything, they got each other fired up on their own” Eraser replied.
“Oh what is this the continuous front runner Seki Mei has run out of juice just before the finish line and Midoriya managed to overtake her, will she still win or is this Midoriya’s victory now?!” Present continued.
“Seki may have slowed down but she definitely hasn’t ran out of power, reducing her speed was a conscious decision” Eraser stated.
‘Oh Aizawa it’s almost like you read my mind’ Mei thought as she let her friend overtake her. It would’ve been easy to carry on going and win first but in her mind she didn’t deserve first, here Izuku was working so hard to overcome all these obstacles and what did she do? Teleport and let her mist carry her. As much as she wanted first place the guilt would’ve eaten her up and left her a shell of a human, so shed gladly settle for second after all shed still have bragging rights over Bakugou.
As she went through the gate in second place she saw Midoriya bring his hand up to wipe his tears, she went over and placed her hand on his shoulder and smiled and said a simple “You did it buddy, I’m so proud of you” which only lead to him crying even more. Once more of her friends began approaching her and Midoriya, Mei made her way over to Bakugou who was standing with a look of unfiltered rage on his face while rubbing his forearms.
You know if you want I can heal your arms a bit so they don’t ache as much.
I don’t need your fucking help witch.
“Oh im not saying you do, but I could help you know, it would only take a second.” Mei smiled at her friend who was still looking at her as though she shat in his cornflakes.
“Don’t fucking touch me okay” Bakugou spat.
“Okay Katsuki, whatever you say man” Mei was going to completely ignore what he said. As he turned around and started to walk to the new sage Midnight had set up, Mei decided she would heal him as it wouldn’t use up much of her energy anyway. Her eyes on him as suddenly a green mist erupted from her hand and snuck its way around his arms, since her normal mist of energy was black Bakugou was concerned about what coated his arms, obviously he only noticed when he felt the aching completely disappear. So it was safe to say that he was surprised when he turned to see Mei staring at him with her black eyes on display and a green light, that resembled Maleficents flames, was streaming from her hands.

[A/N I hate the cavalry battle so much, like I can’t even begin to explain my utter distain for it. So it’s going to be short and shit (much like everything else I write Ahaha) but I don’t care because I literally don’t know what to write also the 3 characters I made up I will never use again so yuh and yes I know new characters will fuck up the final battles but just let it be]
Once Midnight finished explaining the rules of the cavalry battle Mei already had a plan in mind. The first step was to create a mind link with everyone who’s quirks she didn’t know and hope that they weren’t eliminated, obviously all of class 1-A and a few from 1-B and Shinsou were excluded, as Mei didn’t want them to get any idea of what she had in mind. Obviously large group mind-links are an easy way to drain Mei’s power bank, luckily she didn’t have to join anyone’s thoughts together, and she just had to send a message.
If there is anyone with a water quirk, some type of crystallisation quirk and a telekinetic around and you don’t have a team yet please respond by thinking a response.
By some miracle there were 3 people left with those quirks so she sent over her location to them so they could easily find her, it wasn’t long before Mei was smiling like crazy because she couldn’t believe it started off so well.
“Oi Mei you’re on my team” Bakugou announced.
“Oh am I now?” Mei scoffed.
“Yeah now let’s go and get the rest of the fuckers” He said as he grabbed Mei’s hand and started to pull her away from her original spot.
“Actually Katsuki I have my own team” she let go of his hand and stepped back with folded arms.
“Huh?!” Bakugou exclaimed as 3 characters appeared behind Mei, he has never seen those people in his life and yet somehow Mei turned to them and engulfed them in a hug. Bakugou was beyond confused as to what just went down but instead of questioning it he let out a huff and carried on looking for members to join him.
As the group discussed their quirks and Mei shared her plan and they unanimously agreed that they would go according to what Mei suggested. With the time they had to find teams over they assembled their formation with (telekinetic) Yuto on the top, Mei in the front and the other two in the back. The starting alarm went off and as soon as it did Mei threw up a force field surrounding the group and Hitori (Crystallisation) reinforced the field by coating it with crystals. After 5 minutes of stone cold silence finally someone on the outside starts attacking the crystal field, from the swearing joining the banging Mei realised it was Bakugou.
“Huh I guess he got his head from out of Midoriya’s ass” Mei joked which caused the rest of the group to let out a little laugh.
“He may be a bit of a dick but he’s probably going to break through the barrier in a bit, so we should think about implementing phase two” Hitori commented.
“Ooo we’re calling them phases now, okay I fuck with it” Mei retorted.
“I say we stay in here until it breaks completely because I don’t know how long I can hold us in the air” Yuto contributed.
“Oh I wouldn’t worry about that after all I can help you keep us in the air” Mei assured her team mate.
With a quick agreement from everyone they stayed until the shield was utterly cracked, Mei then created a platform that with help from Yuto was completely airborne and stood strong right at the top of the arena where not even Bakugou could reach them. Another 5 minutes had passed when Yuto was starting to weaken from quirk overuse, even Mei was feeling the drawbacks and her eyes were starting to burn.
Mei teleported the group to the opposite side of the arena and let the platform fall from the sky with a colossal bang that send dirt and dust flying everywhere. With the commotion going on they hid themselves in one of Todoroki’s ice barricades and their final trick before they went out to get more points was to have Rin (water quirk) to throw a cyclone of water around them that was completely impenetrable.
“As much as I like your plan won’t we be considered pussies for hiding for so long?” Rin asked Mei
“Umm yeah probably but who cares, if we started going after points at the start we would’ve been in the heat of everything and probably lost most of ours in the process, since we’re the group with the most points, obviously not including Midoriya because that’s insane, it just makes sense that we keep them safe until the end no?” Mei explained to her group.
“Okay fair point who are we going for when we get out?” Yuto asked.
“Anyone and everyone, if you see a headband you can grab you let us know via the mind-link and we’ll grab it, if we’re not the second group by the end of this I’ll consider this all a monumental fail” Mei responded.
“Well that’s definitely not an over-reaction is it now?” Hitori sarcastically retorted.
5 minutes before the cavalry battle ended the group set out and managed to retrieve 4 headbands, 2 had low points and really were not worth the effort but the other 2 did spark up their group points which in turn meant that the did finish in second place just as Mei wanted. Once Midnight ordered everyone to stop Mei saw that Bakugou landed straight on his face so of course she ran over, after saying goodbye and thank you to her group, and began to slate him for being so clumsy.
“How I wish I had a camera because you falling on your face was easily the greatest thing that’s ever happened” Sero roared.
“It was the least manly thing I’ve ever seen” Kirishima chuckled
“I’m telling you its cosmic karma for what you said earlier” Mina giggled alongside the rest of them
“You guys were on his team and you just let him fall” Mei gasped for breath as she was laughing uncontrollably
“I WILL KILL EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU FUCKERS” Bakugou set off explosions behind their backs which caused Mei to jump.
Still laughing Mei linked arms with Sero and Kirishima and the whole group made their way to their break room, instead of going in with her friends Mei set off to find the bathroom. Before Mei could even reach the bathroom she heard her name being called out and when she turned she saw that the only other person in the corridor was Endeavour so she responded in a confused manor not knowing whether it was him who called.
“I would simply like to say that your performance so far has been quite impressive” He towered over Mei with flames roaring as always.
“Thank you Endeavour but I somehow doubt that is your only reason for speaking to me, so may I be so brash as to enquire about your true motivation” Mei responded as politely as she could, she could tell he was the reason why Shoto was the way he was.
“Yes well in that case I’ll get right to the point, I assume you know what quirk marriages are?” Mei’s only response was a confused nod. “I believe your quirk joined with that of my sons would produce powerful offspring, you would be heavily compensated for it of course, as money is no issue”
She was so taken aback by what had just been said, that she needed a second to gain composure “I’m sorry I must have misheard you would you mind repeating that?” She asked and Endeavour begrudgingly repeated himself.
“Okay I wasn’t going insane you are just a fucking lunatic” Mei giggled
“Excuse yo-“
“No no excuse you, I don’t know what happens at your house but I can already tell from this 1 minute conversation that you good sir are the reason Shoto needs a fucking therapist” At this point his eyes were wide open staring at the girl with disbelief. “If I had my hero license and you weren’t the No.2 I would’ve beaten your ass right here right now”
“You better watch yourself gi-“Endeavour boomed with fury.
“I am not done, let me finish. If I were to marry him because I truly love him, which isn’t hard by the way because he is an incredible person, then just know you will not be invited to the wedding and you will never see our children.” Mei’s hands were rolled in fists stuck to her sides by this point and if looks could kill Endeavour would’ve been dead long ago.
“If I ever find out that you forced my dear friend into a loveless quirk marriage just know I will skin you alive, No.2 or not. Fuck you and kindly never fucking speak to me again” Mei continued as she walked straight past the pro.
Endeavours flames grew so tall they were practically touching the celling, she was almost at the staircase when she heard him yell something about her regretting this. So Mei did the only logical thing and threw up 2 middle fingers and once she turned to the staircase she saw a dual haired boy standing there with his eyes widened with shock most likely. Mei approached the boy and wrapped her arms around his waist and started apologising about how awful his father must be to him.
After he initially tensed up Todoroki was able to return the embrace by wrapping his own arms around Mei’s shoulder “Why would you apologise when it’s my father who approached you with that awful request, I’m so sorry he asked you to do that Mei”
Mei quickly let go, put her hands on his shoulders and looked at the boy with utter disgust “Don’t you ever apologise for the actions of that cunt okay? You hear me, you are not your father, you did nothing wrong. Listen if you ever need to get out of that house you just tell me and I’ll teleport you and your siblings to my house instantly. Promise me you’ll tell me if it gets to bad”
Todoroki couldn’t believe what just happened, he had never treated Mei as nicely as he should have as though she considered him a friend to him she was a classmate. Yet here she was showing more affection to him now than his father has in his entire life. Too stunned to speak he just nodded and let Mei pull him towards the 1-A break room, just outside the room Todoroki noticed Mineta and Kaminari talking to the rest of the girls in the class while Mei went to go speak to Shinsou who was also loitering the hallway.
“Why don’t you get Mei as well since Aizawa asked” Momo questioned and a chorus of girls began to agree.
“Ummm” Mineta stuttered while looking at Kaminari for help.
“Well Mei ran off to speak to her buddy so it’s probably best to leave her alone” Kaminari thought up the excuse on the spot knowing full well if they did ask Mei she would see through their bullshit in a second and ruin everything.
This is a mind demon, you have 5 seconds to surrender before I wipe your memories

“Ugh how did you know it was me you prick and for your information I could totally wipe your mind” Mei snorted.
“I don’t know many other people who can get into my head and you know I don’t think you actually could” Shinsou simply stated
“Well shit, anyway I’m glad you made it to the final battles I can’t wait to kick your ass”
“From what I’ve seen by running behind you, you’re amazing and I for one am not looking forward to our fight” He looked straight at the floor completely avoiding eye contact with the one person bound to beat him. No one else in their battle bracket knew his quirk so it should be easy sailing all the way up until Mei.
“Oh my god you think I’m amazing? I do too, I would say you’re not too bad yourself but I was ahead of everyone in the race and always in a sphere of sort during cavalry” Mei spoke sarcastically as she flipped her hair behind her shoulder. “But seriously Shinsou you’ll be fine, I believe in you and I won’t do you the dishonour of going easy on you so be ready to give it your all” she continued as she put her hand under his chin and raised his head so that their eyes could meet and that she could send him a smile.
He returned a weak smile to his friend “Oh you bet I’m going to kick your ass, you better not hate me afterwards though”
“Oh I could never hate you, no matter what you do” She hoped her conversation with him would ease his nerves a little. She couldn’t begin to imagine what it felt like for the others, the uncertainty about what was going to happen. Mei however was not worried, she knew that she could quite easily beat everyone in her bracket, the only person she considered real competition was Todoroki but even then she had faith in herself. It was not to say that she thought the other students were weak, it was simply a case of Mei knowing how her quirk fairs against others.
“Are you going to watch my match with Midoriya?”
“Of course what kind of stupid question is that? I wouldn’t miss it for the world, I’ll be cheering you both on from my seat” Mei gestured for him to come closer and whispered “Don’t tell anyone but I’ll be silently hoping you win”
“Oh Mei turning against your own classmate for little old me? I’m truly honoured and in return I guess I’ll have to cheer you on too” He slyly spoke.
“You guess?! You asshole I expect you to stand on your feet and wave this banner while screaming my name” Midway through that she created an A3 white cardboard poster with the words ‘Seki Mei Number 1’ inscribed on it.
“You know it still freaks me out that you can just make things out of thin air” Mei shrugged in response to her friend’s statement “Oh and did I hear correctly that you want me screaming your name?” He shot Mei a smirk.
She hit his upper arm in response with a slight blush scattered over her cheeks and the two exchanged a goodbye, a final good luck and went their separate ways. With only a few minutes before the final round was set to begin she set off back to the break room Mei took her seat with her friends joining the chatter that was going on.
“I can’t fucking believe I’m up against Todoroki, it’s some kind of discrimination I know it” Sero moaned with his head in-between his two hands.
“At least you won’t have to go up against me or Mei since you’ll be out in the first fucking round” Bakugou uttered.
“Damn bro that’s not very manly, you should believe in your friends” Kirishima countered before muttering under his breath “… but you do have a point”
“Hey I heard that you asshole, I thought you were on my side Kiri!” Sero bellowed
“Okay to be fair what they are saying is harsh yes but with Todoroki you still stand a chance but I would beat your ass in a second, just like how I’m going to crush Kaminari” Mei laughed.
Sero looked at the girl and raised an eyebrow “Mei you know I love you but I think you’re giving yourself too much cre-“
Before he could finish Mei’s eyes flashed a deep black and Sero found himself with his wrists and ankles bound by what looked like his own tape and a strip of it was on his mouth. “Oh please do carry on Sero, don’t let me interrupt you” The spectacle caused Sero to stand and begin yelling though no words actually came out, causing Kirishima to whip out his phone and take a picture, but before he could Mei rushed in and put her arm around Seros shoulder and held her thumb up. All while Bakugou remained in his seat with his arms crossed and he threw his head back in laughter,
Mei please let me go

Mei released the boy from his confinement, he rubbed his wrists and then issued the girl an apology just as the class was ushered out to their seats. Before there could be a proper start Present Mic drew everyones attention to the 1-A girls who all walked out onto the field with orange cheerleader outfits on, everyone, but Mei, were staring at the girls with very confused eyes.
“Where was my fucking invite to this?” Mei yelled at the girls from her seat and before they could respond and tell them it was Minetas and Kaminaris twisted idea, Mei threw herself over the railing as she was still in mid-air she transformed herself into a matching orange uniform. When she was falling she heard Bakugou and Kirishima run up to the railing and scream out her name yet she chose to ignore them completely as everything felt like slow-motion in that moment. With a final check of what was below her she managed to land on the ground directly underneath with a superhero landing.
She stood up and the crowds began to scream in awe. Ignoring everything she heard around her she strode over to the group of girls and demanded they tell her why she wasn’t invited. Once they explain what happened Mei shot a bunch of threats to Mineta and Kaminari via mind link and she threw an opaque field around the girls to give them a chance to run and get changed into their uniforms while she teleported herself back to her seat beside Bakugou. Once she arrived Mei noticed that Bakugou was the only one in the second row and everyone were avoiding sitting next to him as though he had the plague, Mei on the other hand wouldn’t want to sit anywhere else.
