Late night texts
a text message comes in and her phone buzzes. Maria groans as the screen lights up right in her face, rising an arm to protect her eyes.
Natasha: You know, i’ve always wondered how tall people like you sleep. i mean, the blanket can’t possibly cover your whole body, right?
Maria: go. to. sleep.
Natasha: you must have really cold feet right now
Maria: Nat, it’s 4 o’clock in the morning.
Natasha: you can’t sleep huh?
Natasha: ...is it because of the blanket?
Maria throws her head back in her neck and considers just putting her phone away and trying to sleep. but she can’t just let Nat win this conversation.
Maria: no, Natasha. it’s because my girlfriend keeps annoying me with stupid questions instead of trying to get some fucking sleep.
Natasha: i’m on a mission. i have no time for fucking sleep.
Maria: and i have no time for your bullshit.
Natasha: well then, go put some socks on against your cold feet and put your phone away.
Maria: i have no cold feet!!! but the last thing is exactly what i’m going to do right now. goodnight, Natasha.
Maria lays her phone next to her bed and stares at the darkness above her. then her ceiling lights up again.
she makes an annoyed noise as she rolls over to her side to check her phone.
Natasha: then you must have really cold shoulders.
