Bake Off AU
"Oh, bad luck, Mckinnon", Dorcas tutted mockingly, but played it off as sympathetic to the cameras.
Marlene shot her a knowing glare and promised to herself to get Dorcas back in the technical later. She scooped her mess of a cake into the bin with the help of Sirius, one of the hosts.
Outside the tent, Marlene got a cigarette out and chatted to some of the contestants she actually liked. Mary was on the bench just in front of her and they had quickly hit it off. Lily was further to the back, but they still became close friends and had plans to meet up once it was all over. She was in the middle of a story about her chaos of a bakery job, when Dorcas came strolling over.
"Sorry about what happened in there" she nodded to the tent, "Just lost my balance a bit and I didn't notice it at all, I was in such a panic to finish in time."
Marlene scoffed, "Sure. Just know I'm not going to take that lying down for the second time."
Dorcas frowned, "What?"
Marlene dropped the cigarette and stepped on it, "Y'know last week's showstopper? I almost got sent home if it wasn't for my great bakes in the previous challenges."
"You got placed low cause you made a shit showstopper, how's that my fault?"
"Uh", Marlene glanced to her friends bewildered, "Because you literally kept coming over to distract me every fucking second! I don't know how the hell you got yours done in time but you purposefully always came over when I was the busy and needed to concentrate."
"I didn't notice" Dorcas blanched.
Marlene scoffed, "Please, like I'm going to buy that. I am going to destroy you, Meadowes!"
She stormed back into the tent without letting Dorcas return a threat back.
Dorcas turned to Lily and Mary in shock.
"Does she not realise I was flirting last week? I was literally coming over just to compliment her skills and talking about how good she looked!"
Mary laughed, "Yeah, she thinks you're her bake off enemy."
"I didn't know that was a thing", Dorcas frowned.
Lily grinned, "It's not."
