when one door opens another closes
A few weeks after finding out about the twins, she started to think about visiting her dad Nate in the hospital, even though she knew it probably wasn’t going to end well. But she decided to wear the same outfit she wore when she announced her pregnancy, except now she was showing more, she was now 22 weeks along, even though she was showing a lot more she could still fit in it. When Jen was somewhere Mia went with Madison to take her to see her dad. Meanwhile Jen also had plans for Mia when she got home.
It had been at around noon when Mia had finally gotten to the hospital with her mom, which her mom stayed in the car while Mia went to her dad’s room. Nothing could have ever prepared her for what he said to her. Given the fact Mia is autistic she had basically prepared everything she was ever going to say to her dad, even if she knew nothing she could do could prepare her for what her own father would say to her. “Well look who showed up” he said, in a demeaning tone. “Yeah, your daughter, surprise surprise dad I actually do fucking care about you” she said in a sarcastic way, even though she did genuinely mean the last part. “God Mia why are you such a bitch, you seem to only care about yourself.” He said, Mia had trouble being able to understand tone because of her being autistic, but she knew he meant that. “What?” She asked him, seeing as she didn’t understand what got him so pissed off, especially as what she said she was just being sarcastic. “You hadn’t even visited me in here, called, or came in or even visited until now, why’s that?” He asked her, she knew he was just being a dick at that point, it always made her upset and she never knew why whatever she did pissed him off so much. “W-what do you mean? I had just gotten engaged and announced the fact that I’m pregnant the night you got in the crash, I didn’t even know until mom told me.” Mia said, she had started to go a little quiet after he attacked her over such a small thing that was out of her control and that she had no idea about, she was starting to go non verbal because in their relationship all he ever did was yell at her, not actually be a father. “That’s no excuse Mia and you know that.” He said to her, by then she started to freeze up, she didn’t understand why he was attacking or what set him off, but it wasn’t good. By then she started to walk near the door. “Don’t you fucking leave, I’m talking to you!” He said out of anger and frustration, Mia had gotten her stuff by then, and was nearing the door, “Goodbye dad, I’m not going to talk to you if you’re gonna act like this, and as your daughter i don’t deserve this nor do I deserve you and the shit you’ve put me through. Goodbye.” Mia said, standing up for herself before leaving upset. She got in the car and didn’t wanna talk to her mom about it, she honestly wanted to break down right there but kept her composure until she got home, when her mom had asked her about it she told her she didn’t wanna talk about it. She just wanted to be in Jen’s arms, and cry, she knew that anything with her dad wouldn’t be good for the babies, she had decided to keep her distance.
As soon as she got home she was met with Jen in the kitchen, immediately Mia broke down in tears, Jen hugged her as tight as she could without hurting her or the babies. “Are you okay? What happened babe?” Jen asked, Mia sobbing responded with “I-I went to see my dad, and it didn’t go well, he fucking hates me, Jenny, I don’t know what the fuck to do and I don’t know what his problem is.” Mia said, sobbing into Jen’s arms, holding onto her. Jen looked into Mia’s eyes after pulling away from her gently, she began wiping away her tears, getting a soft tissue to wipe her nose, cleaning up Mia’s face a little bit and even getting a wash cloth to clean off her teary eyed face. She knew whatever Mia’s dad had said to her, hit her really hard, and that she wasn’t okay, she wanted to take care of her. “I genuinely don’t understand his problem Mia, you’re amazing, he’s genuinely missing out, and if you’re okay with it you can tell me tonight everything that happened.” Jen said in a reassuring way. Jen wanted Mia to feel loved, and with her she truly did. The next thing she knew Jen took Mia out to their garage, she had a very big surprise for Mia planned.
Jen covered Mia’s eyes until they got near Mia’s surprise, she wasn’t at all prepared for it, especially being autistic, but Jen knew it made her happy. Jen took her hands off Mia’s eyes, Mia was in shock, Jen somehow had gotten Mia’s grandfather’s old 66 mustang, Mia was crying, but Jen wiped away her happy tears and kissed her. Jen told Mia that before her grandfather died he wanted to give Mia the mustang, as a way to keep a part of him with her, but it had taken a while to finally get the mustang out of his garage and do any repairs. Jen wanted to surprise Mia, which she knew Mia was upset so she didn’t know a better time to surprise her than now. Jen told her that after the babies are born she can drive the car all she wants, but she wants to keep her safe as she is pregnant with twins, but Mia had no problem with that as she knew Jen wanted to keep her safe, Mia knew that. After Mia stopped crying happy tears she looked at Jen, smiled, and kissed her, passionately, making the kiss deeper speaking more words than she ever could. Mia was so beyond happy that Jen was the one person she wanted to marry and be with for the rest of her life, she felt lucky, extremely lucky. Jen knew Mia so well, as much as Mia knew Jen, they loved each other. Mia broke the kiss between them both, then saying “I love you more than anything I hope you know that” with happiness in her voice, even though she was sniffing a bit from crying, nevertheless the hormones from twins were hard and she was a mess, but Jen knew Mia loved her endlessly. Jen gave her one last soft kiss, before Mia felt the twins kicking, them both directing their attention to Mia’s stomach that was now moving, smiling while Jen and Mia held her stomach and giggled a bit as she saw her twins move, “I hope you’re having fun in there little ones!” she was happy knowing they were healthy and that she was healthy enough for this pregnancy. They were genuinely so happy, even though Mia’s day didn’t go as planned she felt incredibly lucky to have Jen by her side, through it all.
