Gold Dust Woman
Summary
From 1995 to 1999, they were it—the band everyone talked about, the sound of a generation on the edge. But it’s the way it all ended that made them immortal. In June 1999, after a sold-out show in New Jersey, they simply vanished. No farewell, no explanation—just silence. Decades later, they’ve decided to tell the truth.

Prologue

Natalie Scatorccio (ex-Lead Guitar of Aurora): Nothing shaped my life more than my time in Aurora.

Travis Martinez (ex-Bassist of Aurora): When the band ended, everyone knew it had to happen.

Travis: …It didn’t hurt any less.

Misty Quigley (ex-Keyboardist of Aurora): Lottie—she was always something else. In those final days, she’d say, “You’re all fading away.” And she was right. We were almost ghosts.

Van Palmer(ex-Drummer of Aurora): We had our moment. It was good while it lasted. Good things never last.

The Start.

Travis: Nat was this tiny thing in school, always carrying that beat-up Walkman, blasting dirty rock like it was the only thing keeping her alive. I asked if I could listen.

Natalie: I said no. I hated sharing my earphones.

Travis: From then on, I knew we’d get along.

Natalie : Travis became a familiar face after that. He’d sit with me at lunch, talking about some band I had to listen to. Then I shared my earphones with him, and he said the thing that would change our lives forever.

Travis : I said, “We should start a band.”

Van: Nat went to camp one summer. We bonded. Never really separated after that.

Natalie: I wasn’t supposed to be there. I didn’t have money for lunch, much less for summer camps.

Van: Somehow, she got a fake ID so she could work there.

Natalie: Caught Van smoking a cigarette in the middle of the night. We shared it and talked about music and how much we wanted out of Wiskayok.

Misty: They needed a keyboardist. That's where I came in.

Van: That’s where things get weird.

Misty: I prefer to say interesting.

Travis: Then we met Lottie.
