Retrouvaille

Atlantis sighed as she finally folded onto herself in the boat as she traveled towards Logue Town, her thoughts constantly on the thought of Ace.

With a sad sigh, she looked up at the approaching city, feeling a weight re-settle onto her chest as she docked at the pier. She moved systemically as she tied the boat off, talking to the fisherman before something in her peripheral caught her eye. Turning she faced a cute little ship with a laugh building in her chest before the weight in her chest abruptly fell.

That little ship couldn’t be… The Going Merry, could it?

She turned her eyes towards the city with a breath leaving her chest as she slowly moved forward. As she traveled through the city with wide eyes, she couldn't concentrate on anything other than the chance and hope that Luffy would be waiting for her. Her eyes turned as she caught Smoker’s voice meeting his curious eyes as he gestured for her closer.

She turned back towards the town center before he grunted in shock. “Wait a minute, Tashigi! That brat earlier-”

“They boy with the Strawhat?” Tashigi asked with a tilt of her head.

Atlantis allowed a smile to drop onto her lips as she turned more confidently towards the city, sprinting away as Smoker called out her name. She was pulled back abruptly as Smoker caught up to her and pulled her shoulder back, “Atlantis!”

“It’s Luffy,” Atlantis breathed out as her eyes filled with water. “I need to go.. I-”

“What happened to you?” Smoker grunted out as he turned her forcefully to face him.

She paused at his question before jolting. “Marshall D. Teach! Blacklist him from the Warlord program. He’s going by the code name Blackbeard and he just attempted to murder a division commander of Whitebeard’s crew.”

“This has nothing to do with us though,” Smoker grunted out with pinched eyebrows.

“Yet. But if he becomes a warlord, we’ll become a direct enemy of Whitebeards.” She breathed out as she focused on his eyes, turning up to face him. “It will start a war.”

She waited for Smoker’s nod before breaking out of his hold and making her way towards their house, “I’m going on leave. Gonna go see my fiance.”

She waved over her shoulder as he sputtered, calling out to her, “You better not help him with anything! I mean that!”

Atlantis smiled to herself as she packed a small bag before making her way towards the Going Merry, stopping to throw her bags aboard before leaning against the wood with a smile. She turned her eyes up towards the clouds before pausing as she remembered another detail.

Stepping away from the boat with narrowed eyes she slowly made her way into town until the black cape caught her attention, but what surprised her was the second person standing with the man she was looking for.

She entered the alley catching their attention, smiling in their direction as she leaned against the alley wall, “Monkey D. Dragon?”

The second figure jolted towards her, only stopping as Dragon held up a hand as he gestured towards her, “To whom do I owe the pleasure?”

“Your daughter-in-law,” Atlantis winked in his direction as he paused before dropping his hood.

“My son’s seventeen.” Dragon tilted in her direction with a strained smile.

“And persistent.” Atlantis nodded her head towards the ruckus happening within the city with a smile. “Also, I’m sure you are already well aware of how hard it is to talk Garp down from something.”

Dragon nodded his head hesitantly, before smiling at her. “Then, Miss? What is it you need from me?”

“Fire Fist Ace, the son of that great man, is hunting down the traitor Blackbeard. This is information you’ll receive soon yourself.” Atlantis smiled as she turned at the shouts before turning back to Dragon to finish. “I can tell you something much more interesting. Blackbeard is attempting to cause a war between the government and Whitebeard. I recommend-”

“Why?” Dragon rolled his eyes as the second man interrupted. “Why should we believe this?” The man moved back as Dragon gestured, causing his hood to fall back and Altantis' breath was stolen once more.

“S-Sabo?” She questioned as she finally faulted, gaining the blond’s attention.

“How- You know me?” He questioned as he approached her with scrunched eyebrows.

It was just like that Atlantis laughed, shaking her head with a fond smile and staring into his blue eyes as she barely allowed a whisper to escape her, “You’re alive.”

Sabo’s expression went pained as he reached for her before jolting as lightning struck somewhere in the distance. She turned to stare at Dragon only to realize he was gone. Stepping back towards the street she turned a smile on Sabo with a small laugh, “It’s good to see you. Be good and stay safe. I’m sure we’ll see each other again soon. In the meantime, you might want to do something about that memory.”

With that she turned from his outstretched hand to sprint towards the Going Merry, rubbing the falling tears with a smile as she gleefully jumped onto the ship waiting for Luffy to arrive.

Sshe desperately covered her mouth as the sobs finally wrecked her body. First Ace taking those steps toward his death and now Sabo. The one she failed to save had saved himself.
