The Law of Attraction

Kuzan sighed as he popped his back as he sat up pulling his eye mask off to stare at the girl sitting crossed leg beside him, who had been staring at him for the past hour without moving. “What?”

“You missed the first sakura petal fall,” Atlantis muttered in response as her eyelids dropped slightly as she remembered the only petal that had fallen.

“How unfortunate. Stop staring at me,” Kuzan muttered rolling over to face away from her trying to fall back asleep. Only to have to turn back around a few minutes later to see that she hadn’t moved an inch. “Here. Go get me some of this herb.”

With a shout Atlanits snatched up the list and sped out of the office with a bright smile as she finally had something to do, even if it was an errand.

She stopped in the middle of the town, her smile dropping as she realized she had no clue what the squiggles on the paper said or even where to go. With a sigh she turned around to march back and demand an answer when she stumbled into someone else causing them both to fall to the ground.

“Oh fuck, sorry.” Atlantis apologized immediately as she reached for the man only to stop short as gold eyes stared up at her in a glare. The man in question lessened his glare when he realized she was just a girl before taking her frozen outstretched hand with a cautious smirk as he stared at her.

“Are you alright, love?” He asked hesitantly as she continued to stare at him. She barely responded with a nod before his face changed slightly as he stared at her, challengingly. “What? You know my face?” The man questioned raising an eyebrow as he tipped his hat back allowing her a better view of his face.

“Hot.” Atlantis muttered before slapping a hand over her mouth in shock while the man dropped the cautious expression to release a laugh.

“I’ll take it as a complement, love.”

Atlantis squeaked in response before holding her hand out infront of her so she wasn't holding her mouth anymore to give him a smile, attempting to cover up the blush spreading across her face. “Atlantis. I’m Atlantis.”

The man took her hand bringing it to his lips to kiss her knuckles with a smile as he continued to stare into her eyes, “Law.”

Atlantis went stock still as she stared at him, her hands falling loose causing the paper she had been holding tightly to float away from her causing her to jolt as she reached for it. Only for Law to grab ahold of it with a light showing up in his eyes as he waved it, “Oh? It just so happens I’m looking for this plant as well. Would you like to join me?”

Atlantis frantically nodded her head in awe as she stared at his outstretched hand that fell in front of her with the paper between his fingers, offering it back to her.

She stared for a few more seconds before realizing she was supposed to take it from him, grabbing it without hesitation glancing from the tattoos on the back of his hands to his charming smirk.

“Are you a local?” Law questioned as she fell into step beside him, meanwhile he glanced at the marines all over the place relaxing as she walked closer to him. Marines barely glanced at them, running their eyes past them as if they truly blended into the crowd now.

“No,” Atlantis muttered as she relaxed, realizing what Law had done. She smiled slightly at him as she glanced around, she was his cover.

“Hmm. Where are you from, love?” He asked as he guided her in a different direction with a hand on her lower back, this time without a reaction as she sideeyed him.

“Where are you from?” She questioned with a raised eyebrow.

Law hummed with a smirk as he turned to stare at her, “I could be a local.”

“Not with that North Blue dialect,” She raised her eyebrow daring him to respond while Law did a double take having been caught off guard.

Quickly he reoriented his thoughts as he laughed slightly, “That obvious huh?”

Atlantis shrugged as she turned to stare at the path they were headed on as it turned from paved village paths to a rough forest path. “Taking me off into the woods to kill me?”

“Nope,” Law laughed as he moved his hand away. “Not my style, love.”

Atlantis turned an amused smile on him as he stopped and turned towards her, “Oh what is your style then?”

“Well to start, I wouldn’t kill such a beautiful girl for being kind to me. Second, I would definitely take her to a secret market.” He reached behind her in response to move the leaves blocking their path to show a few booths set up into the side of the hill, hidden from sight.

“Woah,” She breathed out as she walked forward into it without thought, only stopping as Law grabbed her hand to pull her closer to him as they reached the crowd of people. She fumbled for a second before regaining her ground, walking a tad bit closer to him in response. “How is such a large market kept a secret?”

Law casted his narrowed eyes around before shrugging his shoulders, “ They probably have a system setup to prevent noise from escaping. The locals most likely all know and have decided to keep it a secret from the newly installed marine base on this island.”

“Makes sense,” Atlantis frowned as she thought of the new tax law that had been implemented.

Law nodded his head in agreement, pulling them to a stop with their intertwined hands as he gazed at a booth. Atlantis glanced at him before turning her attention back to the lively market with a smile only jolting as a beautiful flower was presented to her.

She turned to stare at Law in shock before he smirked and motioned it again, “The herb you were looking for?”

“Oh!” Atlantis quickly reached out for it, reaching for her wallet at the same time. “How much-?”

“A gift.” Law shook his head, declining the money with a smile. “From a new friend?”

“Friends?” Atlantis smiled at him in response before giggling as she grabbed ahold of his wrist pulling him with her to the middle of the market, where dancing couples already occupied the area. “Friends play together right?”

Law stared down at her in shock before laughing as he gripped her hands and twirled her around, mimicking the rhythm of the dancers surrounding them. “I guess so,” He muttered as he allowed the first real smile to over take his face in response.

Atlantis laughed as he swung her away before pulling her back into his chest so she was faced away from him, “I’m sorry about this, but we’re friends right? I’ll see you again one day if fate allows.”

Atlantis gasped as the heat along her back disappeared with a snap causing her to whirl around to find Law gone.

She stared at where he should've been before shaking her head in mirth making her way from the market with one glance back. Her heartbeat finally calmed down as she walked the path back to the marine office, adrenaline wearing off as she realized what had just happened squealing into her hands as she crouched in the middle of the rocky path. “I met the surgeon of death!”
