Warmth

Lisa walked up to Jean and hugged the knight tightly. “L-Lisa?” Jean whispered.

“I’m sorry, dear,” Lisa said in a soft, almost angelic voice. As she spoke, she felt Jean’s tension fade away as the knight wrapped her arms around the witch. The two stood behind Jean’s desk, holding each other close. Lisa didn’t have the words to describe the incredible feeling of embracing the one she loves. It was a beautiful warmth, like nothing she had ever experienced before. Even though Lisa couldn’t express this feeling, she only hoped that Jean felt it too. The two pulled away from each other but continued to hold each other’s arms. Lisa found Jean gleaming. Lisa smiled warmly, happy that this usually stoic and restrained knight had let herself open up to her. “Thank you, Lisa. For everything.”

“I have to thank you too, Jean. I don’t know what I’d do if I hadn’t met you,” she giggled. The two stayed close, enjoying each other’s company a bit longer.

“Would you… like to walk home together?” Jean asked sheepishly.

“Oh, but don’t you have more tasks to do?” Lisa wished she hadn’t pointed that out, but Mondstadt was much more important than a night stroll. Jean chuckled, taking her coat from her chair.

“It can wait.” Lisa felt her face warm up at the thought that Jean would skip commissions just to walk home with her. She nodded, walking out of the office with Jean.

The confidence Lisa had earlier seemed to completely disappear as she walked through the streets of Mondstadt with Jean. The tension between the two was thick enough that one could slice it with a blade. She could only manage to make small talk, and it didn’t help that Jean seemed rather uncomfortable as well. By the time that Lisa was deep in her thoughts desperately trying to think of something to say, they had arrived at her door. “Here we are. I haven’t visited your home in a while, have I?” Jean sighed as if remembering the times she visited. Lisa looked at the knight with a melancholic gaze. She forced a smile and nodded.

“Perhaps when we have the time, we could bake something together?” Jean’s eyes seemed to sparkle at the offer, like a child receiving a brand new toy.

“I’d like that.” She smiled fondly. Jean’s positive energy never failed to infect the people around her. Lisa giggled, opening her door. She was glad to see Jean’s eyes shine brightly like they always did.

“So it’s a date then?” She teased. Jean’s cheeks grew bright pink.

“Y-ye- I mean, if you’d… prefer that?” She stuttered, trying to figure out how to respond. Lisa laughed. She always thought that Jean was adorable when she got flustered.

“That’s settled then.” Lisa hesitated before closing her door. “Goodnight, Jean.” Just as she was about to close the door, Jean grabbed hold of it.

“Wait-” The witch stared in confusion. Jean’s face was crimson red.

“Jean? What’s wro-“ In the blink of an eye, Jean kissed Lisa. A rush of emotions shot through Lisa’s head as she melted from the comfort of Jean's lips. Wrapping her arms over the knight's shoulders, she shut her eyes, indulging in the warmth and love. Jean wrapped her hands around Lisa's waist, pulling her closer. The two held each other close as everything else seemed to fade away. They pulled away from each other, falling silent for a moment before bursting into giggles. Lisa beamed, gazing joyfully at her knight. “I love you,” she whispered, pecking Jean on the cheek. Jean laughed sweetly.

“I love you too, Lisa.” They continued to embrace each other in Lisa’s doorway, seeming to forget that they were out in public.

“Come inside. It wouldn’t be right for me to leave you out in the cold, would it, love?” Lisa teased. Jean’s face flushed with embarrassment at the pet name. Lisa took the knight’s hand, Jean tailing behind happily like a puppy.
