Lance ships jeith
James walked into the hangar, and Keith did a double take. He was in skinny black jeans (like Keith), a black and white striped shirt (Keith had a red v-neck) and a light blue denim jacket. His brown hair looked so soft and shiny in the light, and Keith wanted nothing more than to run his hand through it as he kissed the pilot senseless. James looked at him and smiled. With a start, Keith realized he had been staring, but he couldn't help but smile back. He motioned with his hand for him to come over. James walked over, a smile on his face. "Hey Keith. What's up?" He asked. "Nothing much. What you doing? I've never seen you in civvies before." James smiled and rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, normally we're fighting for our lives. It's not exactly easy to fight in jeans. Movement is limited." Keith laughed a bit. "That's the James I know. Always being practical." "Hey!" James whined. "Am not!" "Little bit." Keith said, squeezing his fingers close together to illustrate his point. "Well, before you decided to insult me, I was gonna invite you to come with me and the others. We're gonna get some drinks at a club in the city. You wanna come?" James asked, his eyes doing that infuriatingly cute shiny thing that Keith loved. "No, sorry. Clubs aren't really my thing. I'm not much of a dancer." "Me neither. But it'd be nice to get a drink, right? Maybe hang out?" Keith shook his head. "I have work." And lifted up the tablet in his hand. "Work can wait. Come on Keith, please?" James pleaded. "Just one drink. Then you can go back to your super important paperwork." Keith shook his head, not meeting his pleading eyes. "Sorry, but no." "Oh. Ok. I'll see you later, I guess." And he walked off. Keith sighed.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Lance asked, appearing at his side. "Fuck! Dammit Lance, what the hell?" Keith asked, clutching the tablet to his chest. "He was asking you out!" Lance said. "What? No he wasn't." Lance groaned and ran a hand down his face, rubbing his temple. "Keith, he walked over to you, asked you to get drinks with him and hang out. THAT'S A DATE!" Keith's eyes widened. "Wha- what? Are you sure? How do you even know he likes boys?" Keith asked, raising an eyebrow. Lance sighed again and gestured towards James. Keith turned and saw the back of his jacket. "Sounds gay. I'm in." "Oh." Keith whispered. "Yeah. Now, you are going." "What? No! I have work." Keith complained. "Which will still be here when we get back. Now, go brush your hair, and put on that chain Krolia gave you. The silver one with the BOM knife charm." Lance instructed as Keith stared at him blankly. He sighed again and rolled his eyes. "Do I have to do everything for you?" Keith's blank state told him yes. "Ugh. Come on." He said, grabbing his wrist and dragging him to his room. Once there, he sat Keith down and pulled out his hairbrush, beginning to detangle his hair. "Goddammit Keith. It's like a rats nest up here. Do you ever brush your hair?" Keith winced as he pulled at the tangles. "Ow! And yes, I do! Just not very often." He muttered. Lance pulled out the bursh with a grunt. "There. No more tangles. Now, where's the chain?" Lance asked. "Top drawer. Black box." He nodded and retrieved it, taking it out and whistling appreciatively. "Damn Keith. This is nice." He handed the chain to Keith. It was a simple silver one, normal Earth fashion. But the charm. The charm was something different. Silver as well, but shaped like Keith's BOM knife, with a small purple gem in the hilt. It was a birthday gift from his mom. "Yeah. It is." Keith said, smiling softly. He put it around his neck, letting it fall on his chest. He stood and faced Lance. "This up to your standards?" He asked sarcastically.
The other boy clapped excitedly. “You look great! Now come on, they’re waiting for us.” Lance said, grabbing his arm and dragging him out of his room. “But you’re still in your uniform.” Keith says. Lance smiles and runs into his room, popping back out a moment later. He’s changed into dark blue jeans, a white tshirt and an olive-green bomber jacket. “Ta da! Now come on, they’re waiting.” They resumed their march down the hall. “Why would they be waiting? I didn’t say I was going.” Keith says. “No, I did. Less talking, more walking. We only have seven more minutes to get there.” “Can’t we just run?” Keith asks. Lance smiles. “Race you?” “Loser has to buy the winner a drink.” Keith says, already taking off. “Hey, no fair!” Lance said, running after him. Keith laughed and sped up, soon having almost half the hall between him and his fellow paladin. “KEITH! GET BACK HERE!” Lance yells, rounding a corner. Keith almost slips, his shoes sliding on the polished floors. “I’M WINNING!” He yelled back. “YOU CHEATED!” Lance whines. Keith laughs and runs straight through the hangar doors. Kosmo appears next to him, Lance with a hand on him. “HA! I beat you!” “Nope! Not in the car yet!” Keith goads. Lance curses under his breath and sprints after him. Nadia spots them and laughs. “Go Keith!” She yells. Ina, Veronica and Ryan turn to them. “Come on Lancito! You can go faster than that!” Veronica calls. They’re almost at the rover, just a few yards away. The others scatter, giving them a wide open space. Keith jumps forward into the rover right as Kosmo teleports James into the doorway. “What the-” James says, looking around. His eyes widen when he sees Keith flying towards him, but it’s too late. Keith crashes into him and tackles him inside the rover, landing on top of him. “Fuck.” James groans breathly. Keith and the others are laughing as he props himself up on his hands. “Are-are you okay?” Keith asks, laughing. “You just killed my ribs.” James complains, looking up at him.
Keith is straddling his hips, hands on both sides of his head. James’s cheeks flushed when he noticed this, and Keith smiled. “What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?” “Get off.” James groaned, pushing him back and sitting up. “Come on, let’s go!” Nadai said, the rest of them climbing in the rover.
Veronica was driving, and Ina had shotgun. Nadia and Lance were in the middle, and James, Keith and Ryan in the back.
