Memory loss keith, klance, endgame jeith
The paladins finally made it back to Earth. They're in the backseats of Ryan and Nadia's rovers, on their way back to the Garrison. They get in and Pidge immediately jumps into her mother's arms, hugging her and her father. Shiro and Keith reuntie with Adam, and the McClains rush Lance, engulfing him in a group hug. Hunk merely stands in the rover sadly.
"My family?" He asks, and Sam shakes his head. "They're not here. But we'll get them back." Ryan looks around, searching for someone he knows will be happy to see Keith. "Keith!" They exclaim, running over to him, Shiro and Adam.
James hugs Keith tightly against his chest, pulling back and kissing him on the lips. "Thank god you're okay." He says with a smile on his face. But it soon disappears when Keith shoves him back. He falls to the ground and Keith points his bayard at his throat. "Who are you?" He growls. "And why did you kiss me?" James's eyes fill with hurt. "Keith, it's me. James. Your boyfriend. Don't you remember?" Keith glared at him but lowered his bayard. "We've been dating for two years. On your birthday I gave you a ring that matches mine. It's on the silver chain around your neck and the gold one on mine. Don't you remember?" James asked as he stood, pulling his own chain out.
"Lance gave me my ring, not you. I don't even know who you are." Keith said. You could see James's heart breaking in his eyes. "I don't know who you are. Lance is my boyfriend, not you."
James face fell,and all the energy seemed to seep out of him. Lance came over and took Keith's hand. "Don't worry about him carino. He's not important." James eyes flicker back and forth between their intertwined hands and Keith's face for a moment. "Of course. Of fucking course." He scoffs. "Nothing else had gone right these past five years, why else would this?" He asks, voice full of emotion. "Of course." He mutters, turning on his heel and storming off.
"What the hell?" Nadia asks, coming over. "Do you have any idea the hell he's been through these past few years? How the hell could you forget him?" She snapped, getting in Keith's face. "Nadia, no." Adam said, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Will someone please explain what's going on here?" Pidge asked, coming over. "That's what I'd like to know. I thought they broke up." Shrio said. "Oh no, those two idots were making heart eyes all over the place. Even when Keith got himself kicked out, James still visited him. He almost cried at the funeral." Adam stated. "He did. Like four tears, but he did." Ryan said. "And he destroyed a few bots when Matt said you guys were missing. Then everything else happened, and he kinda shut down. That was the first time he'd actually smiled, for real, in at least two years. I don't know what's gonna happen to him now." He finished, a look of concern crossing his face.
Veronica smacked Lance in the back of the head. "Idiot! You just screwed up out best pilot in the middle of a war! Do you have any idea the hell this war has put him through?" She asked, hands on her hips. "Like what? Taken away his hair gel?" This time it was Ina who smacked him. "As far as he knows, his entire fucking family is dead! His entire city was destroyed, and his whole family lived there! Then he gets told, TWICE, that Keith is dead! And he doesn't even get to process any of it because we're in the middle of a war! We know for a fact that one of the few things keeping him going was the hope of having Keith come back, and now he can't even have that because apparently he doesn't remember! And I know this isn't some amnesia bullshit, cause if it was, Keith wouldn't remember 5 years of his life! So this was purposeful!" She ranted.
"Calm down. I didn't make him forget anything." Lance stated. "But apparently it hasn't all come back yet. He hit his head in a battle. I assumed he remembered everything." "Really?" Adam asked, crossing his arms. "Really. If I had known he was dating someone, especially Griffin, I wouldn't have done anything, I swear." Lance insists. "Mmhm, sure." Veronica mused. "Honest!" He said. "Doesn't matter. Lance, go find James and talk to him. Keith, come with me." Mr.Holt said, taking Keith's arm. "We're gonna see if we can't fix your memory." He led Keith away, Shiro and Adam following. Lance huffed but left in search of James. He went to the students dorms, trying to locate James's room. He found him with his door open, sitting on his bed, head in his hands. "Hey. You okay?" He asked, leaning on the doorway.
"No, I'm not okay. Why the hell would I be? My boyfriend finally gets back after 5 fucking YEARS in space, and he doesn't even know my name. He doesn't remember me at all! Nothing! None of the times we went stargazing, or out on the hoverbikes, the dates, nothing! And he's dating Lance of all people! He's literally the only person I love that I know is alive, and he doesn't even know who I am! My entire family is most likely dead and he's one of the few people k have left in this world and I mean nothing to him! So tell me, why the hell would I be okay?" James growled, snapping his head towards the door. His eyes narrowed when he saw Lance.
"What are you doing here?" He asks, stepping towards him. "Just wanted to see how you're doing." He said, standing up. "I'm great. How about you?" James asked, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Look, I'm sorry about taking your boyfriend. But in my defense, I didn't know he was dating someone." Lance said, putting his hands up. James reached his hand towards something the door.
"I don't think you bothered to ask. I've heard a lot about you from Veronica. How you date people for a little while then stop out of nowhere and screw them over. But let me make myself clear." James said, stepping closer, causing Lance to back up until his back was on the wall. "If you hurt Keith, I WILL hurt YOU." On the last word he slammed something into the wall by Lance's head causing him to flinch. "Got it?" He asked. Lance gulped and nodded.
"Good." James said, before turning on his heel and going back into his room, door slamming shut behind him.
