planning is just an excuse to eat cake
They're on their way down the ER when she asks him. He nearly walks into a door. "Will you be my best man?" He turns to Charlie, his eyes wide. She manages to pull him out of the way before he smacks his face on an open door he hadn't seen. Once he regains his footing. He looks at her and smiles, but then his face changes.
"Aren't chicks supposed to have bridesmaids or something?"
"Mer and Cristina are my bridesmaids, Addison has Callie as her maid of honour, I want you to be my best man." Alex raises his eyebrows and smiles. "Do you want to be my best man or not? I can go and ask George?"
"No! No, 007 is not up for the job, of course, I will! I would love to." He pulls her in for a hug. "Does that mean, I get to organise the bachelor party!"
Shit. Maybe this wasn't the best idea.

Charlie's mom manages to get a viewing for a four-star hotel in Seattle to host the wedding; ceremony and reception in 3 months and Charlie has no idea how.
"They have the 17th of May available. It's a Friday night." Her mother says down the phone.
"Mom, how the hell did you manage to get a viewing? It's like completely booked out." Charlie says as secretly she scans the website, sitting at a computer in the medical library.
"Well, Bobby and I got talking," Her mom starts.
"Who the hell is Bobby?"
"He owns the hotel," She says it like it's obvious. "It turns out, I used to date his brother. Jared was always so lovely to me."
"Mom, I'm on my break please hurry up."
"Oh, sorry honey. Anyway, you have to view it on Monday at 11, they're going to go over all of the details; menu, flowers, reception. They will cover it all. You just need to do entertainment, cake and invitations." Charlie logs off the computer and sits back in her chair.
"Mom, you truly are a lifesaver." Addison knocks on the door, getting Charlie's attention. "I have to go, but I'll call you tomorrow? Okay. I love you, bye!" She hangs up the phone and spins in the chair towards her. "My mom got us viewing at The Strand on Monday at 11, she said they will sort everything. We just need entertainment and the cake. Addison raises her eyebrows in surprise. She's impressed.
"Wow, okay then. We need to pick a flavour for the cake by tomorrow evening and you need to call your cousin and see if he's going to be around to do the music." Addison smiles and turns to leave
"Do we have a song?" Charlie calls to her, catching her before she leaves. Addison stops and turns around, a look of thought and confusion on her face. "We need a first dance song. Do we have a song about us?" Addison thinks for a moment, before sitting on the corner of the computer desk, crossing her arms.
"When we met at Joe's...it was the 90's night. The jukebox played song after song of pure crap, but then 'Don't Want To Miss A Thing' came on and you came over to me, and everything...just clicked." She smiles fondly at the memory.
"Aerosmith? Really?" Charlie smirks and taps a pen against her lip.
"Oh, like your music taste is any better."
"Well, actually it is." Charlie stands up, taking her place in between Addison's legs, leaning her hands on the desk and bringing her face inches from Addison's.
"Oh really?" She whispers, wrapping her arms around her neck and pulling her close. They lean forward, ready to kiss each other when someone clears their throat. Charlie springs back, tripping over a chair, landing on her ass.
"Have a nice trip, Doctor Beck?" Bailey stands, an eyebrow raised and her arms full of folders. "Doctor Montgomery, you're needed in the ER. Now." Addison nods her head and hops off the desk disappearing off to the ER. Charlie picks herself off the floor and brushes herself off. "Your break was over 5 minutes ago."
"Wedding planning," Charlie answers with a grin.
"Mmm-hmm." She hums, shaking her head as she walks away.

They both manage to have a spare five minutes, so Addison drags Charlie into an On-call room. Charlie immediately pins Addison to the door.
"We need to pick out the rings." Addison groans out absentmindedly as Charlie kisses up her neck. She runs her fingers through her brunette hair, tugging harshly when Charlie bites down on her neck. She pins her harder to the door, gripping Addison's thigh tightly in her hand. "Charlie." Addison moans. "Charlie, stop." She pulls away from her neck.
"I'm sorry. What did I do?" Her brows furrowed and a pout on her lips.
"Nothing, I said we need to pick out the rings."
"You stopped sex, so you could talk about the rings?" Charlie asks with an exhausted look on her face. "Addie, I love you and I cannot wait to get married to you, but right now, I want to do nothing but fuck you against this door, okay?" Addison bites her bottom lip and pulls Charlie back down, picking up where they left off.
"I spoke to Jamie at the bakery, they said they're sending samples here, in about an hour. Page me once they get here, I have a free hour after my surgery so bring your intern friends and they can help choose the flavour." Addison says pulling back on her clothes.
"You know we do actually have jobs. We don't just hang around the hospital." Charlie says, tying back up her scrub pants.
"Are you sure? Because I haven't seen your friends in an OR for a while."
The bakery sends three boxes. Charlie struggles to carry them all up to the conference room, but manages, even though she can't really see where he's going."Could you page Dr Montgomery, please?" She asks a nurse, shoving the door open with her foot. Three boxes full of various flavours of cake; chocolate, red velvet, fruit. This would be a hard choice to make.
When Addison arrives, the cake is nearly gone.
"I like the chocolate and the pistachio." George smiles, taking another bite of the cake.
"Why did they send that? I told them my brother is allergic, so that's a no." Charlie shakes her head and crosses it off the list.
"Red Velvet, hands down," Alex says with his mouth full.
"I want the chocolate and the red velvet." Charlie writes down on the notepad.
"Chocolate is my favourite, chocolate is good," Addison says from the doorway.
They decide on three tiers, enough for all the guests and a little leftover too.
"So, three-tiered with chocolate, red velvet and a vanilla sponge with buttercream. That is the cake, all ticked off. I will go and call the bakery." Charlie nods her head and excuses herself as she leaves to call the bakery.
The days fly by then before they know it, it's their preview day at the hotel. Richard grants them 3 hours off to look at the hotel, they get a taxi and damn. It's nice. Really nice.
"Oh wow," Addison says they look around the hotel, her arm linked with Charlie's.
"This is the central ballroom, the reception will be here, while the ceremony will be up in the Jamestown Suite. I spoke to your Mom and we found a date. 17th of May? Is that suitable?" Bobby asks them both, Charlie takes in a breath and turns to Addison. She smiles at her and Charlie turns back to him.
"Are we really doing this?" Addison smiles at her, Charlie nods her head and bites her lip.
"I guess we are. That's amazing, We'll take it." Charlie smiles.
"Excellent!" He clasps his hands together and grins.
"Do we need to put a deposit down?"
"Oh no, not to worry. The deposit and the full price has already been paid!"
Charlie looks towards Bobby. "What?! But that's like 30 grand! Who paid for it?"
"Your mother is a hard woman to refuse." He whispers to her, adding a wink.

"Where the hell did you even get that money Mom?" Charlie nearly shouts down the phone as they walk back to the hospital. Addison holds Charlie's hand and gently brushes her thumb back and forth on her hand.
"So, you've booked it?"
"Of course we did, but where the hell did you get all the money for it?"
"Your father made it for you when you were born. He wanted to pay for his daughter's wedding, and with this and some help from me and your brothers, he did." Lisa tells her daughter. Charlie smiles and shakes her head. "And don't worry, Bobby gave me a discount. Friends and family and all that."
"Mom." Charlie groans. They stop at an intersection the cars whiz past them. "I'm gonna go, but we can talk tonight about my dress okay?" Her Mom agrees and she bids her goodbye. Charlie slips her phone into her pocket and squeezes Addison's hand.
"How's your Mom?"
"She's freaking out about my dress, or lack thereof." Charlie rolls her eyes as they cross the street. They talk about dresses and their upcoming nuptials. Well, Charlie talks. Addison just smiles and listens. She hopes hearing Charlie so excited for it, might also stop the running thoughts going around in her head.
