Back from the war

The hug was...unexpected. She felt the urge to push her away, as always, but then she looked at her, and she...just couldn't. Not anymore. The girl was beaten up, bloody, crying and yet, she was smiling. For her. Because she was there, alive. And when she pulled her closer, felt her strong grip around her, she couldn't help but close her eyes, allowing herself to get lost in the feeling. "I’m so glad you're okay" Enid whispered, and she hummed, hiding in the crock of her neck, feeling like that was just the right thing to do, like her body had been craving for it. But they weren't alone, and eventually, (sooner than both of them would have liked) they had to split up. Their friends weren't bold enough to try and touch the goth, but their relieved smiles and encouraging words were more than enough for her. Not that she showed it, her face blank as always while listening to them, answering with small nods and short words that she tried to soften, given the moment. Luckily, the police arrived soon after, asking them to return to their rooms so they could try and control the situation. The sheriff was nowhere to be found, neither was Tyler, and there was a dead body covered in bee stings and boot marks still fresh at the quad. They definitely needed to control the situation. The walk to the dorms was slow and quiet for both roommates, holding onto each other for support. They were bruised and incredibly tired, but refused medical attention. The blonde trusted her werewolf side to heal her, and the Addams was just too stubborn to allow herself to be helped. Once they arrived, Thing was the one who checked them properly. He wasn't worried about Enid at all. The injures were minimal, and already looked days old. Most of the blood wasn't hers after all. She really needed a shower, and that’s she stated as soon as they arrived.

-Do you need my help with something?

-Help her take off the shirt before you go-signed the hand, and the girl looked at her roomie, asking for permission.

-I don't need help-she growled, uncomfortable.

-Yeah, you're the toughest girl around, we get it. Now, allow the kid to undress you before you pass out from blood loss, would you?

-It’s just an arrow to the shoulder, even Pugsley has made me worst playing around.

-AN ARROW? WHAT? -Enid looked at her in shock-HOW?

-Xavier's never ending bright ideas-she explained, trying to pretend that it didn't sting like hell when she tried to move -Nothing I can't handle.

-Stop moving, you'll hurt yourself even more! -Enid quickly grabbed her hands, fear painting her face -Here, let me help. This is ruined anyway, might as well save you the trouble and just cut it, no? -she showed the girl her claws, ready to cut the fabric, and after a second, she nodded.

With all the care she could manage, the werewolf started to very slowly cut the sleeve from bottom to top, being extra careful around the hole under the wound was. She then went for the other one, way faster because it was unharmed, and finally, she moved to the front. She stopped by the stomach, confused, looking at the hole where Crackstone's knife was buried before.

-Goody took care of that-she explained-No need to worry, that is completely closed and healed. Keep going.

-What was "that"? -she asked, doing as she was told.

-A stab wound.

-YOU WERE STABBED?

-Yes, Enid, and now I’m healed. Move on-she frowned at the look she received from the blonde -Don't you need a shower? Then hurry up and finish.

-You were stabbed. And your ancestor...healed you. And then you took an arrow to the shoulder. And got tossed around by a dead guy-she finished cutting and very slowly peeled the fabric off her body. The damage was still very much visible, and her eyes opened in shock -Holy fuck, Wednesday.

-It's nothing. You've done enough, Thing will take it from here-she huffed when the girl didn't seem to move -This, Thing can handle. But I may need help later, and you can’t help me if you're still in the shower, so. Hurry up.

-Yeah, right! I'll be quick, promise. Just shout if you need me!

She grabbed her pajamas and ran off, and for the first time the goth allowed herself to show the pain she was under. Thing didn't comment on it, and just worked on her wounds with precision. Years of practice, he had. They had to wait for some minutes for Enid to finish her shower, so they could properly clean both wounds and skin. Once she was completely patched, the moment she most feared arrived. With a frustrated sight, she called for her roommate.

-I can't wash my hair alone-she informed, avoiding eye contact -Could you please assist me?

-Omg. Is THE Wednesday Addams asking ME to take care of her hair?

-This was an awful idea. I will manage, now leave.

-No! I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'll behave-the werewolf implored, hands pleading in front of her face, and the sight was enough to get the goth to agree, too tired to care. Or that's what she wanted to believe, ignoring the sudden warmth in her chest.

The next ten minutes were filled with the blonde's happy giggles, humorous trappings from Thing and very, very deep breathes from the brunette. She carefully undid the braids, tried to pick any leaf or stick, then very gently helped her friend to find a comfortable position so she could wash her hair without giving her neck a hard time. She then placed a towel over her shoulders, preventing her clothes from getting wet, and started to warm up the water. Her hair was surprisingly soft and pleasant to the touch, and her gentleness managed to relax even the always tense girl. Once she was done, they moved to the blonde's bed to dry it.

-Thank you, Enid. This would have been very inconvenient without your assistance.

-No problem, roomie. After, you know, fist fight a Hyde, this is nothing-she looked at the girl with a big smile -Wow, I think this is the first time I've seen you without braids since the Raven. Loose hair suits you!

-You could have died tonight. And not because I dragged you to danger, you willingly jumped in for me. That is also very much appreciated. Now, if you ever tell someone that you helped me like this, I will feed your tongue to my snake-she ignored the compliment, feeling her face burn.

-I know, I know, don't worry! This is between you and me. Well, and Thing.

-I'm sure he knows how to keep his fingers shut-she stood up, fixing her pajamas-The police will most certainly come look for us first thing in the morning. We should get some rest.

-I hope they understand the situation...-the colorful girl got into bed, kicking off her socks -I didn't have much of a choice there, and it was his dad who shot him!

-You'll be okay, Enid. Don't worry-she laid down, arms crossed on her chest -I'm more preoccupied for the murder I'll be accused of. Poor Eugene will have to testify. He is way too soft for that kind of situation, he will be traumatized, nervous and consumed-a small smirk painted her face -I can't wait to see it.

-But they'll understand, right? You were defending yourself-she looked at her, with no response-because you were, no...? Wait, know what? Don't answer that. The less I know about this, the better for both of us.

-Smart decision-she closed her eyes, relaxing her pained body -Good night, Enid.

-Night, roomie.
