Chapter 2
Arlene woke up in a white room that looked like a lab but with advanced technology. She looked down only to see her were hands were tied down. She only had on her black jacket, bandages beneath it also crossed around her chest and hands with some black leggings as bottoms
She heard a chuckle from across the room and looked up to see Alex looking at me with an amused expression leaning against a cabinet that looked to be filled with needles and other medical stuff. Arlene rolled her eyes at him and thrashed against the ropes which only caused the bed to rattle
“I see someone’s woken up oh and iv patched up your wounds by the way no need to thank me since we can’t have our fighters hurt” Alex said while doing a grand gesture
“I assume you're a doctor now?” She said sarcastically not expecting him to answer but he did and said yes sadly it took longer than expected to be one but oh well I must be at the arena I need to escape
“How long until I fight” she asked him in a tired voice
He walked towards one of the advanced machines and started tapping on it. That could be my vitals or stuff about the arena speaking of the arena I should get some info on it.
“About 3 weeks because of the broken back,sore wings and broken wrist that you have” Alex answered me
“ What type of people fight here? what will the arena be like” Arlene asked trying to gain more info it’s better to know more about the arena and prisoners so I can survive
“ it looks like your in a large box with see through walls that are high in length going upward and outside the box is seats arranged like your at a medieval arena and everything in or outside the box is reinforced so it couldn’t break and hurt the watchers unlike last time but as for the fighters I can not give info it would jeopardize the game” Alex said while getting ready some medicine for me to take
That gives me nothing but take what you got and be happy. Alex walked towards me and handed me a tray of medicine
“What, is that-“ she asked concerned for what he was about to give her
“Relax it’s just some medicine” Alex said while looking at me annoyed and waving around his hand
She snatched the tray of medicine and took it I need to be able to fight soon these will help
“That’s one way to take them” Alex grumbled
As the next two weeks passed okumi came to visit me a couple times to check up on me because she was “concerned that I wouldn’t be able to practice the games later” in addition each day Alex would check in on me also, bringing me pills every other day but on the last day okumi came with special news
“Heya how are you doing” okumi asked me while winking at me
“so I heard that somebody hurt the people in the crowd.what’s that about? And how powerful were they? Are they still here? Spill the tea” Arlene asked trampling the words over each other
Okumi sat down on Alex’s desk and began to talk
“ We were just getting ready for another match, one of… our original special humans got out of their cage and disguised as one of the fighters. The match was starting so the fighters started fighting with each other and the match was going well until the special human used their power against the other opponent, but that resulted in their power breaking the box and killing the watchers unexpectedly. in order to prevent more deaths we had to… neutralize them also their power was remarkable she could’ve become a champion if only the circumstances were different oh also their name was Eleanor parkill ” okumi said in a storytelling voice while doing storytelling actions
That’s some useful information, maybe when I get out I can get some more info on her and a layout of this place “ does this normally happen” she asked since I pretending to be interested so shr could get more info
Okumi came up and whispered in my ear “no I think there’s a traitor who sabotaged them and will possibly sabotage more to ruin the game as their game plan to demolish the games and everything surrounding it. I think it’s Alex” okumi whispered into my ear with suspicion while winking at me
Alex came in as she said that and dismissed her saying that she had other issues to tackle or something. She quickly exited since she didn’t want to be caught
“It seems you’ve been improving rather quickly. Tomorrow will be your last day-“ Alex told me with a factual voice While smirking
Arlene interrupted him and asked him if he knew who Elenor packile was and what info he has on her
His face got sullen at the mention of her name and the air got heavy “oh.. her.. she was one of our prisoners who helped us with getting info on different species and their powers. She was a dreadful girl who never spent time with anyone except for the doctors often with me. I can get her file for you it’s just next door if you want but it does have some things crossed off on it for confidential reasons” Alex said provoking a thought into me
If I could get my hands on that then maybe I could get some info on the place and how To escape
“Is there a library nearby?” Arlene asked while looking thoughtfully at him
Alex looked at me with a suspecting expression before answering “of course next room but before that there is someone here as your tour guide for the evening” Alex said as he looked at me with a crooked smile
As he said that the door opened to reveal a small but clumsy girl with deep red hair fading into deep black she has a soft face with one scar going up her eyes that were a deeper black as the black in her hair and one going across her nose but that one was closer to brown like her skin but darker. She had pointy ears that had mushroom earrings and a green choker that looked to be fuzzy along with an emerald necklace that had an earth goddess engraved around it. She had on a white cardigan with a sleeveless long black crop top, with ruffles on the top of it. She possessed a green corset that looked more like a belt and had plants all around it with 3 brown buttons in the middle along with cuffed denim shorts and short black thigh thigh highs. On her left thigh was a black lace garter with a green bow and her right had the same design but colors flipped and normal canvas tennis shoes. On her left she had a spiked wristband and peril bracelet while on the right a flower bed tattoo
“Um..hi I’m your new roomie, I hope you… will have a good time can’t wait to spend the rest of my time with you” the new girl said with boredom completing what her next words were and looking me up and down before looking away with a small tint of blush
“Jade this is Arlene, be friendly and Arlene this is jade, she may be a airhead and blunt at times by the way” Alex said gesturing to us “Jade I would like you to show her around if you may”
Jade grabbed my hand and led (dragged) me outside the room. She pointed to the rooms and stated what they were before leading (dragging) me to the next room. Soon enough Arlene got the layout of the building except for a few rooms that were hallways or “private” rooms. The room we were in now was the main room to the left you could see the jail bed and in the bottom were the cafe and bathroom. If you go up from the jail bed there is a hallway in the middle and on the right is a library but to the left is where I came from the med room. Alex’s office is to the top of the med room which is connected to a hallway to the main room Right next to the main room is a hallway and the entrance to the entrance which is right next to the check in to get in here along with a security check. Near the security check Is okumi’s office near a storage room that is connected to a hallway leading to the arena and training.
Now that I have the layout I just need to slip away from her… but how? Unless i distracted her or knock her out but that would cause commotion..hmm Arlene pondered inside my head feeling conflicted
She looked around for a distraction but as hard as she looked she couldn’t find anything until they noticed a box of pills and liquids in the corner of my being transported by Alex and a delivery man. Alex noticed me and winked at me after going back and “accidentally” knocking the boxes over and spilling all the liquids over.
“Jade can you help here and Arlene go get a towel it should be in the storage room” Alex said after waving at Jade while pointing towards the storage room
Jade let go of my hand hesitantly before sprinting over to Alex. I should be able to go to the storage room though the training and arena without suspicion. Arlene ran towards the training room and through the arena afterwards stopping at the storage room panting. There were gray shelves everywhere with neat boxes full of files arranged next to each other. How am I going to go through ALL of that? The room has brown walls and wood floors in addition it was full of light except for a few blind spots but that didn’t matter. She noticed one camera set up with 3 huge monitors and a keyboard. The monitors had files sorted into different power types and danger levels welp that helps a lot
She sat down in the chair and started to look through the files Evelyn..Evelyn.. evelyn! I found it

My eyes widened at the name “Alex” and I fell out of my chair. Their..siblings so that’s why she was always around him but why isn’t he a prisoner too ? Did he sell her out? Maybe they came in at different times.. why doesn’t he have powers? This is all so strange something’s wrong Arlene sat back soon after down continue to read in confusion

“Alex! What are you doing on the computer here ?!” Okumi asked while yelling at me with harsh eyes and pointing from the computer to me
they closed the tab and quickly sat straight up like a arrow pointing upwards
“I-I wanted more dirt on Alex a-and besides he asked me for a towel “ they said while stuttering obviously trying to cover my lies but failing because of the first part
Okumi sighed and just said it was a rumor that didn’t need looking into but Arlene disagreed under her breath
“Besides Alex was here at the beginning I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about-“ okumi said trying to ease my doubts but got interrupted in the middle of it
A announcement came on declaring it was time for training and for two sections which Arlene didn’t bother learning earlier to come to the training arena since it was close to the tournaments
“Look Arlene don’t. tell. ANYONE. we were here I would very much like to keep my job and not face Alex’s fury” okumi told me in a stern voice almost reminding me of lucen while putting her hand on her hip, the other on the shelf she was leaning on
Arlene nodded and ran to the training room
