Chapter 1
One
Wednesday always talked about torturing her brother, making jokes about how she would electrocute him on an electrical chair or maim him with knives to a point that would kill a normal person. I mean, Wednesday Is a normal human, albeit a weird one but still.
Enid walking into Ophelia hall was abruptly stopped when the whole building seemed to shake and rumble to the sound of an explosion. “What the Hell?!” Enid rushed to her room completely prepared to save her most valued items in case the building went down. She opened the door to see Wednesday standing in a room that looked like a bomb had gone off and it very well may Have. Not only that but Her hair was standing on end as bolts of electricity came off of the girl sparking and Striking the ground.
“Do not take another step unless you want to be fried.” Wednesday said in her usual deadpan tone.
“What is going on in here, my stuff is everywhere! And you are SPARKING if you haven't noticed!”
“I know it's quite disastrous, I was hoping to keep the explosion contained to my side of the room, it has been a while since I’ve used dynamite caps though those are more Pugsley's thing. I have been busy booby trapping my side of the dorm in case the killer thinks its a good idea to come snooping where they don’t belong.”
Enid looked at the Girl bewildered as electricity continued to spark through her unaffected and as if a LITERAL BOMB didn’t go off in the room. “How are you okay right now?”
Wednesday turned to look at Enid as she turned the electricity lining the floor off. “I’m an Addams.”
Two
Enid and Wednesday were walking through Jericho one afternoon, Enid had suggested they take a trip to relax from the stress of everything that had been going on recently. Enid being a werewolf however caught a smell of something that was absolutely delicious, it was faint and coming from a few streets over. Wednesday must have caught on however when she stopped and turned to Enid.
“Stop drooling, you look like a buffoon.”
“But Wednesday it smells so good over there we gotta check it out.”
Wednesday turned and took a few deep breaths with her eyes closed to smell out what had gotten Enid into her little fit.
“It seems a new coffee shop has opened up and they are baking coffee donuts, perhaps they will be palatable compared to the sugary filth the weathervane produces.”
Enid gaped at Wednesday following her toward the building. “There is no way you could have smelled that from way over here, I’m a werewolf with heightened senses and it's faint.”
Wednesday let a little bit of a smirk slip as they made it to the building, ”Look for yourself Enid.”
A sign sat at the open doorway ‘GRAND OPENING try our Coffee Donuts today!’
Enid was awestruck once again “How could you have possibly smelled that from two streets over? Let alone know what they were making.”
“I told you Enid I have a very refined sense of smell, very useful for detective work, and as I said before I’m an Addams”
Enid scoffed and whispered to herself “Like that explains anything.”
Three
Wednesday had gotten herself into it this time. Enid ran to the quad as fast as she could to defend her friend from whatever trouble she had found herself in this time. She arrived too late it seemed. Wednesday’s habit of pissing off large groups of people all at once was finally gonna bite her in the ass.
Wednesday In her gall had upset a group of sirens and things got heated until wednesday hard pulled a knife making the situation a lot more delicate. Enid only got there in time to watch a Siren pull their necklace off and attempt to use their siren song on her. God knows what they were about to do Wednesday for pulling a knife on them but luckily enough Wednesday scoffs at the attempt and sheiths her knife as if she didn’t laugh off a siren song like she does Enid's pop songs in their room.
“Is that all you have to combat me? You’re lucky I don't particularly want to be expelled just yet or you would be mash fed to my menagerie.”
“W-What but only Sirens can resist the Siren song.”
“Perhaps you should have thought of that before attempting it on an Addams.”
“What does that even mean?!” the siren yelled just as confused as everyone else.
Enid finally made it up to Wednesdays side softly grabbing her above her elbow and trying to drag her away which Wednesday only slightly resisted.
“What were you thinking!” Enid whisper-yelled to Wednesday. “You’re already on thin Ice with Weems and I'm sure she's just waiting for you to make one more mistake to expel you.”
Wednesday scoffed, “I’m sure whatever inane punishment Weems could conjure up would be well worth the vindication of justice.”
“What are you even talking about?! Also how the hell did a Siren song not affect you at all. Only sirens are supposed to be able to resist it?” Enid questioned while dragging Wednesday back to their room before Weems or someone else appeared.
“I told you I’m an Addams. That annoying pest thought it was wise to insult my best ally to my face as if retribution would not strike them down. People should know better by now then to mess with my things.”
“Oh? And who has the honor of being so highly regarded by you huh?” Enid teased wondering who Wednesday cared about enough to make such a scene. Probably Eugene, he always went along with Wednesday's schemes.
“They were insulting you.” Wednesday said, interrupting Enid's train of thought.
“Oh.”
Four
Enid Was tired. The night kept getting worse and worse for her, to start it off she couldn’t find her favorite sweater which might seem not bad but she had a date with Ajax and it was sort of a lucky charm for her. Then she got caught up helping Yoko bless her heart Enid loved her but god she could be a lot sometimes even for Enid. to top it all off the only reason Ajax invited Enid out in the first place was to break up with her. Said he ‘ thought they were better as friends’ which is acceptable but god it was just the icing on the cake to an already awful day.
Finally making it to her shared dorm room she ran in and collapsed onto her bed ready to start complaining to Wednesday. “Oh my god Willa, I have just had the worst night. First I couldn’t find my lucky sweater which was awful. I love that thing. Then Yoko took me on this long ass tirade to help her find a stupid outfit for her date when I was supposed to be on my date with Ajax, and don't even get me started on Ajax right now he-huh?”
Enid turned to look at Wednesday during her tirade and found her sitting on the wall, like perpendicular cross legged reading a book. “Oh please go on, I would love to hear more about how much you are suffering from inconsequential complications, while I have been slaving away trying to find this killer for hours in this room.”
“I was saying uh Ajax broke up with me uh… How are you doing that?” Enid, still teary eyed, had seemingly forgotten about today's events in lieu of questioning how Wednesday was defying gravity itself.
Wednesday finally looked up when she heard about Ajax. her eyes widened slightly looking down at Enid from the wall. She closed her book, stood, and walked down the wall and over to Enid who had stood up and was staring back at Wednesday No longer crying but red rimmed eyes wide with shock.
“I will rip him to shreds, just say the word.”
“W-Wait what? No no there's no need to go that far Jesus. I was just… How were you walking on the wall? Like I don't think anyone else here can do that. Maybe Rowan could have but I don’t think so? Are you telekinetic?”
“Stop your ceaseless ramblings. I am an Addams, my father can do it and so can I. No I am not telekinetic though sometimes things just know to get out of my way.” Wednesday had stepped quite close to Enid during her explanation. “The offer is still there.”
Enid gaped at Wednesday, how much weirder could this family get seriously. “No no,seriously you don’t need to do that. It's just been a long day.” Enid picked her hands up going for a hug but hesitated and stopped short looking conflicted. Wednesday had already taken a step back.
“Sorry right, not a hugger.”
Then Wednesday surprised Enid. She placed her hand gently on Enid's shoulder and gave it a comfortable pat. Wednesday herself looked confused, her eyebrows pressed together but to Enid it meant the world.
“Thank you.” Enid said softly.
Five and six
Enid was once again returning to her dorm. Whichever Wednesday moved in had become the hub of things weird and dangerous which was quite the achievement seeing as they were at the school specifically for such things. Weirdest yet was not the Strange things and people Wednesday attracted but the things she could do. It was as if Wednesday was her own form of supernatural creature with her own set of powers.
This was also confirmed once again when Enid entered her dorm late at night after sneaking around with Yoko. The room was pitch black which was unusual, Enid could’ve sword shed left a light on when she left and enid always at least has a few candles burning for ‘ambiance’ reasons.
She stepped into the threshold. “Wednesday?”
Glowing eyes slowly peeled open in the dark and stared right up at Enid. “Oh my god ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod.” Enid rambled backing away.
Suddenly a ring of candles around the eyes all lit at once on the floor revealing Wednesday in the center.
“Wednesday what the fuck!”
“Calm down I was just attempting to summon an ancestor to help me with a spell, I was hoping if the evidence turned out to be false in my investigation I could at least scry the location of the Hyde and its master out using a spell.”
“Why do your eyes glow in the dark? And you lit all those candles with your mind, how'd you do that? You looked very terrifying when you lit up the room like that Willa it was scary. Why didn’t you just do that from the start wouldn’t it be so much easier?” Enid continued to ramble on until Wednesday would cut her off.
“You thought I was terrifying?” Wednesday had this glint in her eye as if she took it as a compliment and after a moment of staring Enid caught on and smiled.
“Very.”
Wednesday stood up to move closer to talk to Enid as she had been doing recently. It was like she had to stand right in front of her to hold a conversation, to make sure the attention was on her. “Thank you.”
“It takes a long time to scry into someone you don’t know the location or the looks of, it's not like a crystal ball communication where both parties know each other already. It requires a lot of materials and a spell that I do not have completed, my ancestors knew it but are being quite unresponsive about it, so unhelpful.” Wednesday continued.
“And the fire?” Enid asked again.
“Ah, just a party trick, I-”
“Let me guess, it's ‘cause you're an Addams?” Enid interrupted.
Wednesday nodded, staring right into Enid's eyes. Not quite menacing, it was kind of hard to place. “You're starting to get it.”
“What does that even mean Wednesday? You can do all this crazy stuff that's crazy even for outcasts and just say it’s because you're an ‘addams’ but that's just your last name how are you able to resist Siren song as a human, how are you able to walk on walls and set fire to candles and emit smoke randomly which is super weird by the way, how are you able to get electrocuted like its nothing and take hits that would put werewolves down?”
Wednesday had a little smirk on her face like she had just won a disgusting little prize from a messed up carnival game.
”Addams have a very long and traceable family tree. We come from many direct lines of nearly every supernatural species known in existence. Eventually all those things that made those people ‘outcasts’ pooled together and made Addamses. Sometimes Addams have some powers, sometimes they don’t, I got lucky with the genetic lottery and got a few more than others. That's why my Brother is so durable and why Uncle Fester can shoot lightning out of his hands and why my father can walk on walls and why I can do most of the things I do. We Addams are made of much more supernatural than people can remember. So we're just Addams.”
“Wouldn't that just make you like your own species of supernatural creature at that point?” Enid added.
Wednesday nodded. “I’m an Addams”
Suddenly Enid felt like she Understood the Addams a lot more, it must be a lot to carry around a mesh of instincts and curses from nearly every supernatural species there is. Somehow it all congealed together and made their family.
“That's…kinda cool actually.” Enid admitted. “So its just random what kind of powers you could have.”
“If we even get any, Thing is only running around as he is due to some magic somewhere up the family line. His person died long long ago. He's been a hand ever since.”
“Huh.” was all Enid could say after that.
