Prologue/Teaser/Pilot Chapter

Enid Sinclair was a very energetic and squeamish girl. With her bright personality and vivid sense of fashion, one would think she worked in the fashion industry, but that is very far from the truth.

As Enid walked into work this morning she was immediately greeted with bustling and hustling of personnel, more so than usual. She quickly went to get some coffee before sitting at her desk and checking; what the hell was going on.

Before she could even turn her computer on, her friend, Yoko, called out to her, “Oi Sinclair! Chief wants you up at her office ASAP!”

Enid’s head snapped in the direction of the voice before hastily responding, “Tell her I’ll be right there!” Taking a sip of her coffee before springing to her feet and hastily making her way to the Chief’s office.

Enid knocked on the door and then proceeded to enter. Inside was Bianca Barcley, the Chief, and Xavier Thorpe, the informant, was obsessed with the Wednesday Addams case. When Enid saw Thorpe, she knew that the news was going to be big. They rarely get leads for this infamous case, but when they do it’s always big, especially since the lead informant is in the station.

“Sit down, Sinclair. Thorpe has vital information on Addams’ whereabouts,” Bianca commanded with her compelling voice.

Enid sits down as Xavier goes over the information he had gathered about the case. Although this was a major breakthrough, she couldn’t help but feel bored as he droned on and on. About 10 minutes later, Enid finally had enough.

“Can we just get to where she is?!” Enid snapped. “Look I know this all seems fascinating to you but getting to her before she can escape again is my priority.”

“Oh- I uh yes, of course.” Xavier stuttered, “We found out that she’s hiding in an abandoned building near the outskirts of San Francisco. We found evidence that she has been there a while and it will take her time to move on to a new location.”

“After years of evasion, we finally have her,” Bianca interrupted. “I want to minimize our chances of getting discovered. I want this to be a one-man operation, Sinclair. DO NOT fail me. You’re dismissed”

Enid stood up and saluted her before she left to go get her gear ready. Wednesday Addams is going down.

Wednesday Addams has never been afraid. She was supposed to be heartless and emotionless. Today, however, was different. As she was buying food from a small town nearby, she had a close run-in with the police. She knew that they would send the best of the best to dispatch her. Now, she was terrified; this wasn’t how it was supposed to go, her plan worked valiantly until an unforeseen circumstance threw it off course which landed her here.

This was one of the last safehouses that has previously not been discovered. Running away would be futile as the closest other safehouse was in Ontario, approximately 2,457 miles (3954 km) away. She would be caught before she could make it through the border.

So now, she was in the bunker underneath the abandoned house, hastily packing her gear and other essentials, ready to flee at the most minuscule signs that she had been discovered.

It was soon that she heard the front door of the house being busted in, by what she assumed was San Francisco’s Special Operations Bureau (SOB). She was expecting to hear at least a dozen or more agents to charge in, yelling and ordering her to surrender.

Instead, what she heard only served to baffle her. A pair of light footsteps, attentively searching the floor. This was all they sent to take her in? One agent? Wednesday was unequivocally insulted. Do they think one person can take her down? Oh, how she would prove them wrong.

She was snapped out of her inner monologue by the bunker door slamming open. It seems that in her haste she had forgotten to arm the bunker security system. What came after, had her perplexed. It was a taller woman pointing a gun towards one Wednesday Addams. The authorities have found her, and there’s nothing she could do.
