Chapter Four

Monday mornings were double potions, first thing after breakfast, except this morning. Tai nearly wept with joy when instead of going down to the dungeons, they were led outside to the courtyard, just a few feet shy of the Black Lake.

Harry had been ecstatic when he’d found out the giant  squid was a soccer fan, playing goalie for Dean and him. Harry shook his head-only Tai could make friends with the giant squid.

Of course it hadn’t been just the giant squid; apparently many of muggle borns were happy to have a soccer fanatic and they had an unofficial club of sorts.

Harry was happy that Tai was finding something he loved-obsessed over-while he was here. The familiarity helped ground him.

“Anyone know why we’re out here?” Neville asked.

“Mate, you wanna deal with Snape?” Seamus exclaimed, his eyebrows (which had been burned off earlier in the first few weeks of school) disappearing into his hair.

“N-no!” Neville backed away, hands shaking as he smiled, fully intending to disappear as quickly as he could.

Seamus and Dean grasped Neville by the arms, easily jostling him around and around, laughing. Hermione sighed and smiled at them. It was good to see them acting like children once in a while.

Tai and Harry remained huddled together, their digimon at their side, all trying to get some form of warmth.

“Not to worry, Tai, I got this!” Agumon separated himself from the group, his head up, aiming for the sky and with a loud cry, “Pepper Breath!”

A ball of fire burst from Agumon’s mouth, igniting the sky momentarily before it disappeared, a wave of warmth falling over the students.

“Thanks Agumon!”

Harry smiled as the warmth settled into his bones, noticing how some shy first years moved closer as Agumon let out three more pepper breaths in quick succession.

“‘ERE THEY COME!” Hagrid bellowed, pointing up to the sky where three large carriages-all periwinkle blue-were being pulled by giant flying horses.

“Seriously? They look like Unimon!” Tai muttered.

“Yea you’re right!” Harry agreed, recalling when he’d tried to bow to the disgruntled Unimon. The Unimon had been offended and it had taken Elecmon explaining certain human customs to it before it had thrown its head back and taken off.

Davis hadn’t let him live it down for the rest of his trip.

The large carriages touched down with a magical grace, almost silently on the grassy area, coming to a full stop as soon as they did. Without much noise, the carriage doors swung open as a giantess stepped out with rather dainty steps, despite her size, stepping aside as two lines of students exited the deceptively small carriage. Tai knew they were much larger on the inside, especially after Mcgonagall had explained Wizard Space to him.

“Madam Maxine! It’s a pleasure to see you again!” Dumbledore said jovially, taking the woman’s hand in his, kissing it.

“Iz a pleazure, Dumbly-dore! Please tell ‘our care taker zat zhey only drink single malt whiskey,”

“Hagrid will make sure they have all they need, now please follow me this way, Madam Maxine.”

As Hagrid quickly led away the flying Abraxans to the stables, the twin rows of equally attractive students followed Madam Maxine and Dumbledore away from the carriages.

“That’s the French Magical school! Beauxbatons! It’s said that almost every student there is a Veela!”

“Veela? What’s that?”

Before Hermione could answer, a resounding crack caught them off guard, and some students (Harry, Neville, Dean, Seamus, and Tai) got into fighting stances. Elecmon and Agumon stood in front of their partners, electricity and wisps of fire ready.

The normally mirror-like surface of the lake shook, ripples extending outward, becoming waves which crashed into the shoreline.

“Think it’s a Seadramon?!”

“It’s a ship! Look!”

A large mast broke through the surface, slowly rising until at last, three great ships rose up from the murky waters. Within minutes, a delegation of students, each clad in thick red jackets and furs to keep away the cold. Harry wondered what kind of school would be located in an area so cold.

“It’s Krum!” Ron’s voice rose above all others as the entirety of Hogwarts rushed forward to try to get a good look at the famous seeker. Tai quickly grabbed Harry, pulling him to his middle, the smaller male fitting perfectly against him.

“Agumon!”

The small dinosaur nodded, letting out three bursts of baby fire, effectively stopped the hoard from coming any further.

“Hey! What gives-?”

“Someone’s gonna get hurt! Plus, he doesn’t look interested in your obvious mobbing, Wealsey!” Tai shot back, keeping a firm arm around Harry.

Behind them, Viktor grinned-still appearing very much like a grimace and stepped forward, hand clasping Tai’s shoulder in commarde.

“Thank you and you,” Viktor nodded to Agumon and Harry, who shook hands with him. Agumon blushed and was about to reply when a shout made them look.

Ron looked like he’d been hit with a stunner; a look of pain flashed across his face before the redhead face planted into the dirt.

“What? Mister Weasley! This is no way to behave!”

McGonagall quickly withdrew her wand, levitating the semi-conscious wizard towards the hospital wing. Elecmon whistled a random tune as he hopped atop of Harry’s shoulder.

“That is one bad hair day!”

Harry groaned, while Viktor looked impressed and quickly pulled the two digidestined over towards his group of friends, eager to introduce and learn.

—————————————————————

Severus had not bothered to meet the other two schools; he knew that half of them would stop by his class at some point during their time here. He frankly did not care whether they visited or not.

He did however nearly have a heart attack when he saw that Harry had a digimon. He hadn’t seen any since before Lily and Hogwarts. He’d kept that part locked away, the only part of him that neither master could take.

Severus Snape had been a digidestined, a long time ago, and despite his own partner leaving for the digital world, he’d still kept his digivice. He never kept it on his person, but he kept locked away.

For safety.

For some day.

He kept that so locked away that not even Lily knew about that world. He’d been selfish for something that was only his that he went to great lengths to hide it.

It was the only thing he kept from his childhood.

“Prince,” he spoke, as the magical lock melted away, reforming itself on the desk, the drawer opening itself-the dusty device staring back at him. Taking a breath, he picked up and waited for a moment.

“Sev! I was getting worried about you-it’s been so long!”

“I’m sorry, but I need a favor, if you don't mind?”

“Please! Like you need to ask! We’re partners! It’s about the battle right?”

“What is going on? That was..”

“Powerful? Like the last time? You’re not wrong. Listen, I’m going to do some digging, you do your thing. Sev, be careful, okay? I know you-“

“We will talk in a week? That should suffice for the both of us.”

The figure nodded and the screen faded to black. Severus put the device back, warded the drawer and charmed it to hide from view.

He wasn’t a child anymore. He was an adult wizard and needed to be there in case something happened to Harry.

He still had a promise to uphold.

—————————————————————

Viktor had been excited to meet the youngest seeker in a century! He wanted to have a seeker's game against him. Of course, he knew all about Harry Potter-the boy who lived-but that was that. He’d done a great deed at the cost of his own happiness.

It was no secret that Harry was an excellent flier-his own coach had come by to see a game last year and had sung his praises. Even in the face of dementors!

Viktor had wanted to see it for himself.

“Viktor iz impressed by your skills, ‘arri!” Nikole exclaimed, the short witch reminding them too much of Mimi. She was friendly with an open face and the brightest silver eyes they’d ever seen. She was shorter than Harry but she walked about as if she were ten feet tall!

Wilhelmina grinned and winked, “It’s the German in her!”

Quickly, the young Romanian girl caught up with her much shorter lover, grabbing her hand as they continued forwards.

Harry and Tai watched for a moment as the two women basked in each other's space, comfortable to even exchange small pecks. Viktor watched them for a moment, “Do you ‘ave a provlem wit-“

“No!”

“It’s…not that,”

Tai blushed bright red- a feat that was impressive considering how tan he was; while Harry looked like he wanted the earth to swallow him whole. Agumon smacked himself in the face, while Elecmon looked bored.

Ah! They were in love!

Viktor laughed and ushered them away from the castle, towards the far off quidditch pitch which had been calling his name since his arrival.

Thomas, who had been more than ready to jump in and fight to protect his sister, Wilhelmina, burst out laughing at the sight of the two! Viktor shot his friend a glare, guiding the group towards his goal faster.

“Shh! Let them decide!”

“No fair! I can play matchmaker-“

“No! You almost ruined my relationship with your matchmaking!”

“Come on! You have a great wedding story!”

Viktor rolled his eyes-if he ever made it that far with Marcus, he’d count himself lucky. His boyfriend still laughed at the fact that Viktor Krum had thought of renting a muggle hot air balloon to ask him out. At several thousand feet up in the air, neither had thought to actually tie the balloon down and ended up in the middle of the ocean!

Thankfully, a muggle family had been there to help them when their balloon had dropped into the ocean soon after.

Viktor sighed as the group slowly got closer together. Although he’d come to Hogwarts for the TriWizard Tournament, it meant very little to him. He was already a famous seeker and knowing the weight he neared, he wanted no more of it. He also knew that Kakarof would want-demand-him to win. He already knew that once the ceremony began, it would be he who was chosen.

No other student was allowed to enter.

Distantly, he wondered who would be chosen from Hogwarts. He knew that Harry would not be chosen, as he was under the age limit to compete. Tai was a possibility but without magic of his own, it would be impossible.

Perhaps the strange creature next to him would be of service. He remembered Nikole saying something about monsters appearing out of nowhere and a group of children had appeared and guided the monsters back through a computer. He’d thought Nikole had been drinking with her family, but then several of his teammates had reported the same thing and as he later found out, the muggles had as well. In a matter of days, the worlds he’d known had included something else entirely.

“We’re here! Harry, let’s go! I want to see your skill!”

Harry’s green eyes burned with excitement as he nodded, summoning his broom.

—————————————————————

It was official, Tai was never letting Harry within two feet of any broom! He’d been surprised by the damn height of the seats and had quickly realized why when Harry and Krum had kicked off from the ground, rising several hundred feet into the air before a small golden golf ball with wings was released and they took off.

“Tai!” Agumon surged forwards, grabbing Tai’s robes as the male leaned over the railing, enthralled by the display and worried.

“He’s got it bad, huh?” Thomas grinned, nudging Wilhelmina in the ribs.

“Shush! I think it’s adorable!”

Tai watched, his heart hammering more and more as Harry and Viktor dipped, dove, and cleaved through the air after that little golden ball. The golden snitch rocketed upwards until Tai could no longer see it.

“Where they’d go?! HARRY!”

“Tai! You’re gonna go over the edge!!!” Nikole cried, helping Agumon hold him back.

Where all muggles this crazy?!

In a surprising twist, the snitch flew right in front of Tai and Nikole, who jerked in surprise. Neither had a chance to scream as the two seekers dove for the little snitch. Tai leaned over the edge, watching as Harry and Viktor stood on their brooms, arms outstretched for the little ball which seemed to be teasing the two of them.

Harry had told him about quidditch but he’d never mentioned this! He couldn’t imagine how intense the actual game was! It seemed like time had slowed down when they both closed their hands around the snitch, both of them stopping short and falling into the sand covered field, rolling and laughing.

“HARRY!”

Tai wasn’t the child of courage for nothing and in Kari’s humble opinion, he often made stupid decisions more often than not. Grasping his digivice, he nodded to his partner, both of them standing on the railing. Nikole whipped her wand out, ready to cast as did the others.

“Agumon! Let’s go!”

The small creature nodded and both of them leapt. Thomas yelled, a spell on the top of his tongue, when both of them were encased in a bright light.

“Let’s go!”

“Muggles can do magic?!”

The trio raced out of their seats and towards the stairs, with Thomas all but throwing himself over the railings to get to the field faster. Wilhelmina grabbed Nikole, throwing her over her shoulder, following her brother.

With a great cry of “Greymon!”, the heavy champion landed on the field, Tai standing atop of his shoulder, holding on to his horn.

“Vhat iz that?!” Viktor cried at the sight of Greymon and Tai.

Harry sighed, “That, Viktor, is the leader of the digidestined,”

“And my brother, I really apologize for him,”

The duo turned around to find Hikari smiling at them, shortly followed by Tom, T.K. and Matt.

“Hikari?! Matt! T.K!”

Harry raced up to them, hugging them as Bijtor scrambled to his feet, still awed by the sight of Greymon. Once the massive beast came closer, he bent down, letting Tai off who quickly grabbed Harry towards him, checking him over.

“Are you crazy?! That was…I…glad you’re safe!”

Harry didn’t mind the hug-just the opposite actually, but he quickly cleared his throat, stepping back to reveal that they weren’t alone.

Kari?! Matt?! T.K?!”

“Hello big brother!”

“Dude, really?” Matt sighed, shaking his head, before walking over to Tai, “real subtle, by the way.”

T.K. smiled and laughed, as Patamon flew down, “This place is so big! T.K, you gotta see it!”

Harry laughed, waiting for the rest of Viktor’s friends to join them before he led them towards the Great Hall.

—————————————————————

By the time they’d made their way towards the Great Hall, Mcgonagall was no longer shocked by the new additions and practically cooed over Gatomon. Dumbledore sighed, realizing he would have to extend the same grace he’d shown Tai and Agumon-if the look that Tom was giving him was any indication.

He’d been trying to get that ridiculous order turned around through any means necessary, but the guardianship notice was airtight. Nothing could break it, until Harry became an adult.

At seventeen.

By then, Dumbledore was sure that Voldemort would have absolute power. He needed to find a way around that. He watched as the new group sat at the very end of the Gryffindor table, but he almost flew out of his chair when Marcus Flint stood and went to sit by Viktor Krum. His jaw nearly dislocated when Marcus kissed Viktor in greeting.

The Slytherins showed no signs of disgust, while the rest of the surrounding tables had mixed reviews. Ravenclaw simply glanced over at the time, some of them smiling and nodding in acceptance before returning to their books or food. Hufflepuff cheered loudly, many of them holding hands with their own lovers in acceptance (this caused Marcus to flush a bright red as he often protected the little puffs as a prefect). His own house, Slytherin, gave him nods of their own, silent respect in their eyes. Viktor nodded back at the Dumstrang school, many of them who knew all about Marcus simply happy for their friend.

“Oí! What’s a slimy snake doing at our table?!”

Harry could’ve groaned-Ron had chosen that moment to walk into the Great Hall. The red headed seemed indifferent to the stares he was receiving, instead making his way towards his usual seat when he spotted the other digidestined and their partners. He rounded right on Harry, ignoring both Tai and Matt.

“You think this school is your personal property, eh?! You little traitor! You-“

Ron flew back, landing on his backside from the force of the strike. Tai stood, grinning wildly, “Been dying to do that,”

The digidestined of courage walked forwards, grabbing the front of the other male’s robes, hauling him up in the air, “I told you to stop, Harry is a digidestined, he’s-“

Ron, despite his predicament, sneered at Tai, “You're what?! Little boyfriend? Please, we’ve seen the way you stare at h-“

Tai dropped Ron, when a flash of light flew by him, striking Ron squarely in the chest. Tai turned around, surprised to see Hermione’s wand as the one which had cast the spell.

Regardless of how they look at each other, Ronald, Harry is your friend! Treat him as such and learn when to keep your horrid mouth shut!”

Hermione sat back down, returning to her book as Ron managed to find another seat, at the very end of the table, still fuming.

—————————————————————

Matt knew that Tai was ready to bolt-even if he didn’t know it yet. They’d all known that Tai had fallen for the small wizard; the very reason why Tai had been brought here of all places instead of back home.

Sending Kari a look, the young woman nodded, quickly taking her brother’s arm and forcing him into the seat next to hers. If she kept a hand on him, he wouldn’t leave.

The doors to the Great Hall opened, allowing Hagrid to bring in a large wooden casket, which he opened once he was near the front, revealing a rather old and ancient looking cup.

Dumbledore nodded as the cup was placed upon a round platform, a silver enchantment encircling the ancient cup. “Students, friends from afar and near! I present to you-The TriWizard Cup! It is the great honor of Hogwarts to host such a grand and dangerous tournament of champions! Each school will produce one champion-of age-to compete against and gain a lifetime of fame and fortune! Good luck to you all!”

—————————————————————

For the following week, students from all three schools were excited, breaking curfew and rules alike, yet none of the professors bothered with taking house points away. Viktor had, much to the consternation of his friends, had entered his name.

Fred and George had attempted to trick the Goblet, but only sufficed in growing white beards long enough to rival Dumbledore’s.

To Hogwarts surprise, Marcus Flint entered and a Hufflepuff named Cedric Diggory. In true fashion, Tai and Matt had entered, stating that they’d win no matter what the challenge was. Harry rolled his eyes-he couldn’t stop them as they were both seventeen. No one had said anything either since the Goblet hadn’t tossed their entities out either.

Draco had scoffed at the two muggles and their strange creatures. Ron was still just as angry, especially since they’d all been sorted. Matt moved to Gryffindor, T.k. to Hufflepuff, Kari to Ravenclaw, easily making friends with Luna Lovegood.

—————————————————————

“Has everyone eaten their fill? Wonderful!” Matt has been more than surprised by the sheer amount of food, wondering where it went when it vanished.

“Maybe the house elves eat it?”

“What’s a house elf?”

Before Neville could answer, Dumbledore walked over the Goblet, awaiting the first contestant. Behind him, Madam Maxine smirked while Kakaroff looked terribly bored.

“From Drumstrang-Mr. Viktor Krum!”

Loud cheers and whistles followed Viktor as Kakaroff led him towards the small alcove.

“The champion of Beauxbatons-Miss Fleur Delacor!”

A polite applause followed the graceful Veela witch as she too joined the other wizard in the alcove, alongside her own headmistress.

“And now for the Hogwarts champion! Presenting, our champion….Mr….Tai Kamiya?!”

Hogwarts seemed to be split, with some applauding while others remained quiet, pondering how a muggle was chosen?!

Harry smiled, while Matt and Kari shook their heads, both of them thinking the same thing. T.k. sighed; he couldn’t wait to tell the others.

He was sure that Davis would try to jump right through the gate. He just hoped that Izzy would be able to stabilize the gate. The trip had been a test, only for them to realize that they couldn’t get back to Japan.

Izzy thought there must’ve been an interruption in attempting to merge the magical and digital fields, which Yolei had later confirmed through a specialIzed diagnosis.

“Hey look!”

T.k. watched in horror as the Goblet spewed out another piece of parchment, which flew towards Dumbledore.

“The..fourth..champion for Hogwarts is…Harry Potter,”
