As so Ling thought. Zyanya is always mean to her, she would always make fun of her for being chinese, she made fun of their financial problems. "Why are you so mean?" Ling teared up, Zyanya pushed her in the ground. "Because you're annoying" Zyanya laughed.
"Knock it out, Zyanya! That's not nice!" Ling argued, the mexican just looked at her and laughed at her even more. The bell rang, signaling that recess is over, Zyanya went back to the classroom with a hurt Ling following her.
HIGH SCHOOL
The bullying just gets worse throughout the years, Ling has low self esteem, she had no friends other than Zyanya. School year is almost over, both of them had always wanted to go to this prestigious school, Valorant Academy but they heard it is hard to enter there which made Zyanya being challenged even more.
When Zyanya heard that Ling is also trying to enter there, she laughed. "You? In that prestigious school? You can't even present a report without stuttering!" Zyanya pointed out, the rest of the class laugh alongside with her.
When class is over, Ling was packing her stuffs in her bag and Zyanya slowly approaches her and took her stuffs, "give it back!" Ling yelled, the mexican just raised her hand higher, she was taller than the chinese woman as Ling struggled to get her stuff, Zyanya threw her stuffs out of the window, "Oops" Zyanya smirked as she left the classroom.
Ling sighed, looking at the ground as she went out to get her stuffs back, she was beginning to think what did she do to Zyanya, she didn't do anything, why does Zyanya hates her? she sniffled as she saw her stuffs in the trash, she picked it up as she went home, trying to hold back her tears.
When she got home, she told her mother that she just wants to go to a local college school after this school year, Ling is the top student in her class but she lacks confidence. Ling's mother wanted to know why but she can see in her daughter's eyes that she doesn't want to talk about it, so she just lets her daughter decide which school she wants to go. Ling thanked her mom and went to her room.
Ling received a message from Zyanya, the message stated that if she wanted to go to Valorant Academy, she should kill herself first and reborn with as a kid with high confidence. Ling just stared at the message and deleted it then stuffs her face on the pillow and cried, did she deserve this? All she did to Zyanya was to be a good friend and yet she can't do the same thing to Ling.
Ling didn't went to school the next day, Zyanya didn't care, then a day turns into weeks. Her teachers were starting to worry that if Ling keeps this behavior, she will not graduate with honors due to the school's strict rules where if you have so many absents you won't be included in the honors.
"Hey Zyanya, aren't you Ling's only friend? What happened to her?" one of her classmates asked, Zyanya sighed "I don't know, she hasn't been responding to my texts" she replied
"Why don't you visit her?" One of her classmate suggested, Zyanya was about to speak as she lay her eyes on the classroom door, Ling walked in, she looks like she hasn't eaten properly lately.
Ling place her missing assignments, activities, and quizzes on the teacher's table and sat down on her chair.
"Hey Ling! Are you okay?"one of her classmate asked, she just nodded and look back at the blackboard.
The principal walked in, she was aware of Ling's situation since her mother called the teacher what was going on at home, Ling doesn't want to go to school because the bullying got worse and requested if she can graduate early. The principal was the first one to know this and allowed it.
"Come with me, Ling" the principal said, Ling got up as she was about to exit, Zyanya grabs her arm "what the hell is happening?" The mexican asked, Ling just pulled her arm away and left.
A week has passed, the teacher finally announced that Ling graduated for personal reasons. Zynanya was confuse, if Ling had personal problems, she would tell her about it. But why is she distant lately?
Zyanya remembered when they were kids, Ling told her that they should graduate together no matter what happens, the mexican remembered scoffing at the idea.
Summer came around, Zyanya graduate and enrolled to the Valorant Academy. All she has to do is to wait foe their response. The mexican sighed, it's been weeks since she saw Ling, she decided to visit her.
When Zyanya arrived in Ling's place, she rang the doorbell, no response as usual. Then, an old woman tapped her shoulder, Zyanya turned around to look, It was the woman who always sell iced tea in the nearby park where Zyanya and Ling used to play when they were kids.
"Looking for Ling?" The old woman asked, Zyanya just nodded.
The woman look at her with a sad expression written in her face. "I'm afraid that Ling and her family moved out weeks ago" Did Zyanya heard that correctly? Did Ling moved away without telling her? Zyanya thanked the old woman and sprinted her way home as she dialed Ling's number, as usual, Ling didn't answer
Zyanya shouldn't care about this since she find Ling annoying, she doesn't know why she is bothered about Ling moving away.
Meanwhile Ling is at her home with her family in the other state of America, she noticed that Zyanya keeps calling her lately. She decided to get a new number, she didn't want to talk to Zyanya. She hugged her pillow tightly, she hated it that she misses her so much but she couldn't help but feel sad as she remembers how Zyanha treated her. She clowed her eyes, drifting herself to sleep, telling herself to move on from her bully, her childhood friend, her crush.
