Today was game day, which meant that Peyton was in for a long one and she was still questioning whether her family was going to be there or not.
"Today, we show our asses out there! We show everyone at this dumb ass school that we own it! That girls basketball team is the best team of all of all rivers way!" One of their coaches yelled as Peyton smiled and chewed on her bottom lip.
—"This is varsity game! Who's winning?" The captain asked as she stood on the locker room's bench.
"WE ARE!" Peyton and bc the rest of her teammates yelled.
The captain and coach smiled. "Who's taking home the first W for this years game?"
"WE ARE!"
"I CANT HEAR YOU!" The coach yelled as he joined in.
Peyton smiled as the rest of team cheered and yelled; "WE ARE!"
"Good, let's get out there and show those other girls who's boss!"
As the rest of her teammates started to make their way out of the locker, Peyton was stopped by the same girl that let her use get an 'air sip' just the other day.
"Hey Peyton. Let's have a good game out there." She patted Peyton on the back as she started to walk off but was stopped.
"Wait, I never got the chance to know your name. Coach doesn't really say it and it's like you're a mystery person at this school."
She groaned as she furrowed her eyebrow. "I'll tell you. But you can't tell anyone else." She sounded serious.
"I'm sure no one's going to kill you if they knew your name."
She looked at Peyton with all seriousness. "Promise not to tell anyone. I mean it, Peyton, or I won't tell you anything else."
The raven haired girl nodded, "I won't tell, I give you my word."
The brunette in front of her then sighed and smiled. "My name's Vanessa. Vanessa Calloway but everyone calls me V. Only call me V, that's what my mother wants." She chewed at her bottom lip before walking over to the door. "Come on. We have a game to get to."
After the door shut, Peyton stood unsettled. Vanessa Calloway. Gwen's sister.
-
Peyton walked up to one of the girl's as she looked at her jersey.
"You know that the outfits are supposed to fit. Why does yours look so tight?" Peyton asked as she looked the girl up and down.
The girl smiled and raised her eyebrow, "I think it fits just fine." Her friends then started to surround her. "I don't even know why you care about the jersey sizes, All game you're not even going to touch the court." she smiled as her friends started laughing, "who you trying to look good for? the bench?"
Peyton crossed her arms, "No, I'm trying to look good for your mother."
"I'm about to beat her ass!" The girl said as she stepped up to Peyton.
"HARPER! I NEED YOU OUT ON THE COURT!" The coach yelled as he saw the commotion that was going on.
—"Yes sir!" Peyton yelled with a grin fresh on her face before running off and over to the court so she could take the ball up. After all, she was a point guard.
As Peyton took the ball up, she thought she was looked stupid. The basketball jersey looked way too big on her and it was ridiculous.
"Hey, Harper. Think you're going to get past me?" One of the girls from the opposing team asked her as she tilted her head.
She stopped the ball as she leaned down and eyed the girl. "That's not my job, idiot." She then passed an assist over to Vanessa as she made a clean and wide open lay up. "That's her job." Peyton smirked before she made her way back down the court as her eyes glanced to the crowd and saw Jade cheering her on.
A small smile crept on her face before she turned back to the court.
-
The game was in second half before she finally caught the glimpse of Gwen. She was wearing her awful but admiring short-tight skirt.
"Okay, we are up by 30."
"They suck." The same girl with the tight jersey said.
"Ali, I don't care if we are up by 50 points, you want to look good for the scouts then you show your ass off. Second half is going to be your half." He paused before looking over at Peyton. "And yours. I see how good you play and you have potential. Now everyone sit and get your last 2 minutes of break before we start playing ball! Now Lethal Troops on 3!"

The teams then sat down as they flooded their mouths with cold beverages and water splashing onto their faces.
Peyton didn't do that.
She instead looked over at the cheer team before walking over to them. "Hey ladies."
The girl smiled at her as they said in sync, "Hey Peyton."
Gwen rolled her eyes as she turned away from her team. "Gwen, I have 1 minute until I'm back on the court. I was hoping I could get a good luck's hug?"
Gwen turned over with a smirk fresh on her lips. "From I? Guinevere Calloway?" She asked as Peyton looked up and seen the clocking counting down.
Peyton rolled her eyes before pulling Gwen over and hugging her as tight as she could.
"Good luck, princess." Gwen muttered into Peyton's ear before the raven haired girl groaned and pulled away.
"This is why I don't do nice things for you." Peyton gritted through her teeth.
"HARPER!" Her coach yelled before she quickly winked at Gwen and then ran back over to her team. "Keep your head in the game, Harper." He warned before she was back on the court.
She bounced the ball a couple of times as she looked at Jade who was sitting next to some boy and laughing at god knows what, and then she looked at Gwen.
Gwen who was cheering for her as the blonde sent her wink's and air kisses.
Peyton smiled and chewed on her lip as she thought of Gwen only.
"Let's play ball." She snapped the ball before she brought it up to the half court line.
-
Scoring the winning basket was Vanessa with the assist of Peyton.
The two were unbeatable.
Coach seemed to be more than happy as he ran out on the court giving Vanessa the celebration she deserved as Peyton got the celebration of her own. She turned over to the cheerleaders as she smiled at Gwen.
Just as Peyton was about to walk up to Gwen, Jade came in and hugged on tight to the raven haired girl. "You did so amazing and you were awesome!" Jade cheered before cupping Peyton's face.
Peyton smiled and nodded at her before looking past her and trying to find Gwen but the girl was out of eyesight. Peyton immediately frowned at that. "Thank you, Jade, but I should go find, Guinevere." Peyton assured as she stepped back.
Jade smile dropped, "about that. Have you guys talked about the whole thing with us three?"
Peyton nodded and sent her a soft smile. "She's not comfortable with it, and I don't think I'm comfortable with it either. That will just bring more confusing feelings to the fire and how will that work out for us?"
Jade raised her eyebrow, "what do you mean?" She asked confusingly.
"If we did anything, now that I realize, your uncle is basically my uncle, blood or not. It's a bit weird."
Jade scoffed, "you literally was in love with me—you probably still are. What's weird? Being in love with someone who's somewhat like family but not by blood or just having sex with them?"
"Both. I'm a weird person, but that's all over now. I come to my senses,"
Jade looked Peyton up and down and crossed her arms. "Yeah, I've heard. Didn't Gwen make you come to your senses about 2 times now, right?"
Peyton raised her eyebrow, "what are you talking about?"
"Nothing, I got to go."
Jade then walked off as she pulled the same guy with her and they made their way out of the gym.
The raven haired girl sighed before looking back over at the cheerleaders who were practically drooling over her.
Was this what being a good basketball meant?
Cool.
-
"Everyone did amazing out there! I want you to hit the showers and call all your parents to let them know that you will be home late! We are having dinner, girls!" The coach grinned before walking into his office.
Peyton looked from the door and then at her locker.
"So you and my sister?"
Peyton jumped at the sound of Vanessa's voice as she then sighed. "W...what?"
"Guinevere. My sister. You two seem to be hitting it off, I seen how you almost got coach to bench you for the rest of the season because you wanted to give her all those hugs and kisses."
Peyton rolled her eyes as a smile crept on her face. "I did not want to give her hugs and kisses. Just hugs."
Vanessa rolled her eyes. "Whatever. I'm going to go home and shower, but I will meet you guys at that local food place. I'm sure I won't miss much." Vanessa assured as she grabbed her things. The Calloway girl made her way to the door, only to be stopped. "Or maybe I will miss much, hey sis." Vanessa winked at gwen before leaving out.
Gwen was still getting used to the whole knowledge that her sister went to this school for all these years thing.
Peyton on the other hand was surprised to see the blonde. "Gwen?" Gwen walked up to Peyton and she brought Peyton into a long and tight hug. "Gwen, I'm dirty. I should shower first." Peyton whispered as she made sure not to wrap her arms around the shorter girl.
Gwen groaned before she held on tighter, "hug me back you idiot, I'm risking the smell of disgust to hug you." Peyton smiled as she wrapped her arms around Gwen. "That's better." Gwen muttered as everyone else seemed to pay them no attention.
"You better get out of here before I get in trouble by the coach. Then it'll be your fault and you will feel guilty and then-"
Gwen reached up and placed a small kiss onto Peyton's cheek. She then smiled as she inched her lips to Peyton's. "You did so well, out there." She whispered, "I'm proud of you." Gwen grinned as she heard the sound of the door clicking. "I should go."
The taller girl felt her slip away as she watched her leave. A bright smile on her face from the memory of her friend.
It was all over when she saw her coach looking at her.
He was disappointed.
-
After dinner with the team, Peyton made her way home only to see Gwen sitting at her door step.
Gwen looked up at her, "Hey, how was the dinner." Her voice was soft and low.
Peyton smiled as she walked up to the blonde. "It's cold out here. What are you doing here, anyways?"
"I came by to make sure that you were doing okay and to see how you felt about the dinner."
Peyton leaned down, "you could have shot me a text. Plus you're most likely cold..."
"I'd sit in snow on a empty stomach waiting for you." Gwen assured as Peyton pulled her up and smiled.
"Is that your way of telling me you're hungry?" Peyton asked as she brought Gwen's hands up to her mouth and blowed on them to warm them up. "I'll make you whatever you want, or buy whatever you want-"
"Peyton, I have my own money. My mother and father own thousands of company's if you didn't know."
The Harper girl rolled her eyes, "okay smart ass, I was only trying to let you know that I was here for you whenever you need and for whatever you want." Peyton opened up her door as she waited for Gwen to enter.
—"you saw how hot I looked in that cheerleading uniform?" Gwen asked as she walked past Peyton.
Peyton rolled her eyes before shutting the door. "Yeah, you looked so hot." Peyton fed into Gwen's ego.
"I'm glad you think so." Gwen glared before she made her way up the stairs.
-
Gwen and Peyton sat in Peyton's room with their backs leaning against Peyton's bed.
"You want to listen to something?" Gwen asked as she looked over at the raven haired girl.
Peyton nodded, "sure." The words escaped her lips like it was normal.
Normal to say yes to Gwen.
Maybe because it was.
Gwen smiled before she reached over and took her headphones out of her bag.
She then gave Peyton one piece as she took one for herself and placed them in her ears. "I want this to play at our wedding. The first dance."
Peyton looked at her weirdly. "We're having a wedding?"
Gwen nodded and hummed, "yup, I'll tell you all about it once you put the earbuds in."
Peyton rolled her eyes playfully before she did indeed put the earbuds in her right ear as Gwen put hers in her left.
I hear you whisper underneath your breath
I hear your SOS, your SOS
"What is this? A cry for help?" Peyton asked as Gwen just rolled her eyes.
"Listen to the damn lyrics."
I will send out an army to find you
In the middle of the darkest night
Peyton sighed, "so tell me about this wedding that we are supposed to be attending?"
"Having. Not attending."
It's true, I will rescue you
There is no distance
That cannot be covered
Over and over
"We will have cake."
"Yeah, no shit." Peyton palmed her face as Gwen smiled at her. "What else will there be? What color would I be wearing?"
Gwen shrugged, "I haven't gave it much thought. Maybe Yellow and then in the after party you could wear nothing." Gwen winked before placing her hand on the peyton's thigh.
Peyton shook her head before letting out a dry chuckle. "You are just a sex machine."
You're not defenseless
I'll be your shelter
I'll be your armor
"I'm not a sex machine, it's just. People only ever stay for sex, right? I wanted to make sure that you wouldn't just up and leave." She paused as she saw the expression on Peyton's face change. "I thought maybe if I gave my body up to you then you wouldn't leave me like Steve always threatened to do."
I hear you whisper underneath your breath
I hear your SOS, your SOS
Peyton reached out and intertwined their hands. "I'm not steve. I will never be him and I don't need sex to stay with you gwen."
I will send out an army to find you
In the middle of the darkest night
It's true, I will rescue you
Peyton then raised her eyebrow, "and what do you mean, you gave your body up to me? What type of cult are you in?" She joked as Gwen pulled her hand away and started to fidget with both of her own.
I will never stop marching to reach you
In the middle of the hardest fight
It's true, I will rescue you
Just as the song ended, Peyton turned to Gwen and she watched her body language.
"Gwen you can tell me. I won't tell that school that you're into witch craft." Peyton joked some more.
Gwen rolled here eyes. "Remember when I told you that I wanted to know how well you were experienced?" Peyton nodded as she waited for Gwen to finish, "well I wasn't. Like at all. Steve and I... we never did anything like that..."
"And you're saying that..." Peyton paused before she got up from the floor and dusted her pants off. "You're saying that I'm your first?"
Gwen nodded with her eyes remaining on her fingers that were in her lap. "Yeah... go ahead, laugh it up. I know it's stupid and you might think I'm weird for being the way I am after not having that. But I like people to think that I'm not a virgin because it fits my image and if you hate me for not telling you before it happened then go ahead but I'm telling you now."
Peyton shook her head before reaching her hand out as she heard the rain fall from the sky. "I couldn't ever really hate you. No matter how many times I say it." Gwen looked up and smiled before taking her ring out and giving it to her. "Are you going to propose to me, now?"
"No, my mother gave this to me when I was young as a symbol of treasure and as a symbol to never be like her." Gwen smiled at the memory. "It's a symbol of my virginity and since you know now that I'm no longer one and since you took it. You have to wear it."
Peyton took the ring as she looked it sincerely. "I will carry this with my life." Peyton placed the ring on her dresser before pulling Gwen up. "It's raining, I say we read while it rain princess." She winked at Gwen as the blonde rolled her eyes.
"You're an real ass."
"Sometimes, but I learned it from you. Now tell me, which book would you like to read?"
Gwen walked over to Peyton's book shelf and grabbed one of the most interesting books she had. "Let's read this one."
Peyton looked at it and raised her eyebrow. "Yeah, sure."
They then settled into Peyton's bed. Peyton began to read to Gwen as she laid with her head rested onto the blonde's chest.
The night seemed young. It seemed like it could never end and Peyton was hoping that it never did.
Gwen played with Peyton's hair as the sound of rain filled the room.
This was all new to Gwen, she loved this feeling too much and it was all a sign that soon it would be taken away from her.
Something about it felt too good to be true.
"Gwen..." Peyton said in a small voice. Gwen hummed in response. "Want to do something else? You seem distracted."
Gwen smiled softly as she still stroked her fingers through the raven haired girl's hair. "I'm not distracted. I just was mesmerized by you."
"Mhm" Peyton grinned as she chewed on her bottom lip. "What were you mesmerized by exactly?" Peyton asked as she placed the book onto her night stand and sat up to hover over the cheerleader.
"I was thinking a lot about how very attractive your voice is." Gwen dragged her index finger down Peyton chest.
The Harper girl tilted her head. "Oh yeah? And what else?" She asked in a low whisper.
Gwen hooked her arms around Peyton's shoulders as she pulled the girl down some. "And how depressing it is that the book characters get more love than me."
"What you want? A kiss?"
"Yes."
Peyton leaned up and dragged her thumb along the sides of the older girl's lips. "Work for it." She muttered as Gwen's lips brushed off of her fingers.
—"work for it?" Gwen raised her eyebrow.
Peyton chewed on her bottom lip for a moment as she searched Guinevere's eyes. "How bad do you want it?"
"I need it."
Peyton flipped her hair to the side as she moved her legs to both sides of her friend. "Of course you do. But how bad."
Gwen glared and sat up fast with Peyton on her lap—still hovering over her.
"You're a tease." Gwen rolled her eyes before pushing Peyton off of her as the raven haired girl broke into laughter. "And you're an asshole."
Peyton smiled, "yeah, well you love it." She then got up and took the book off of her nightstand and placed it on her book shelf. "Let's sleep. We still have school tomorrow."
"Yeah well, I don't want to sleep with you."
"That's the first." Peyton joked,
Gwen just rolled her eyes before leaving out of the room. She was going to sleep in the guest room tonight.
-
The next morning, Peyton woke up next to Gwen.
Last night she had convinced the blonde to indeed sleep in the room with her instead of the guest one.
Too bad their day couldn't be cherished because she had to get ready for school and so did Gwen.
Speaking of Gwen, she was finally waking up.
Peyton got up from the bed and looked over at her and her messy hair. "Morning." Peyton says as she took off of her shirt.
Gwen smiled and looked over at Peyton, "Morning, Peyton." She then frowned and her eyes widened. "Peyton?" She quickly placed the bed sheets over her face.
The raven haired girl walked over to the bed as she knelt down. "Are you okay?"
"C...can you get out? So I can get changed and I need a toothbrush so we might have to stop by my house and I definitely should have thought this over."
Peyton smiled at Gwen's rambling. "I have a spare toothbrush in my guest room. You can also wear my clothes, I have plenty and if you think I'm going to laugh at your messy hair then you should know I find it adorable."
Gwen groaned before peaking her head out of the covers. "What about my makeup."
"You don't need it."
"But Steve said-"
"Fuck Steve." Gwen smiled softly, "you're beautiful Gwen, but we need to get ready for school." Peyton assured to her.
"Okay, fine."
Peyton grinned, "that's my girl." She winked before standing up as she watched Gwen get out of the bed with a blush fresh on her face. "I'm going to go shower but you can get in after me."
"After you or with?"
Peyton shook her head, "some things just never change."
-
After they both got dress and started to make their way to the school, Peyton and Gwen sat in the car listening to Taylor swift.
It was no secret that Peyton was a swiftie and well, Gwen did anything to make her happy, so if listening to tay tay swift made Peyton happy then she would definitely listen to it, even though she secretly enjoyed it as well.
Peyton smiled as she watched Gwen turn the music off. "Come on, let's get to class."
Peyton groaned, "I don't wanna. Class is boring and we have like 10 minutes until the bell rings."
Gwen nodded, "yeah but you spend 5 minutes getting your breakfast snack because you aren't a fan of breakfast food and you spend the extra 5 minutes of walking to class because you are a very slow walker." Gwen explained as she took the keys out of the car.
"Have you been stalking me, Calloway?"
"Only because I want to tell our kids about every moment of our lives." Gwen winked playfully. "No, but seriously, I need to know everything about you. So when the time comes, my parents can't tell me that I'm marrying someone I hardly know."
"You really have this marriage thing in your head."
Gwen sighed, "well, high school is almost over and we still have our dreams to live so it's better to save the planning for now and then worry later." Gwen assured before glancing over at Peyton's necklace. "You wore it?" She asked in a small voice.
Peyton raised her eyebrow. "Wore what?"
"The ring. But instead you placed it around your neck, and onto a necklace."
Peyton looked down at it and smiled, "yeah, I wore it. I would have put it on my hand but during practice I get really active and I don't want it to slip off my finger at any time so I placed it on my necklace, it's closer to my heart anyways."
Gwen face heated in red as she couldn't hide the blush on her face. "You really have my heart, Peyton Harper."
"Are you sure it's Peyton Harper? Knowing you, you might already have it as Peyton Calloway."
Gwen grinned, "maybe." She scrunched her nose before she leaned forwarded and cupped Peyton's face. "6 minutes left."
Peyton looked at Gwen's loose hair and then into her eyes as she searched them for just a second. A second glance was made to Gwen's soft pink lips. Peyton let out a breath she didn't know that she had. "You want to be late?"
"Who wants to be late?" Gwen raised her eyebrow.
—"uhh, okay, well then I guess 3 minutes is going to have to work." Peyton assured before climbing into the back seat. "Come on, we don't have much time."
Gwen grinned, "hmm, no." She simply said as she got out of the car.
Peyton frowned and rolled down the back seat window as she peeped her head out of it. "What?"
"You heard me, no." Gwen tilted her head, "unless you want to beg for it."
Peyton squinted her eyes as her mouth dropped from shock. She got played by her own move.
"You can't be serious."
Gwen took her phone out and looked at the time. "4 minutes left until the bell rings," she crossed her arms. "C'mon, let's hear just how much you want it." She stood their unfazed.
Peyton glared and opened up the car door, "Peyton Harper doesn't beg." She then got out and shut the door as Gwen pushed her back and against the car.
"Are you sure?"
"I'm positive."
"Okay, after Lane leaves tonight then I will show you." Gwen assured before walking around the car and taking Peyton's things out. "We should get running, the bell is going to ring in about 2 minutes." Gwen assured before shutting the car door, rolling up the window and locking it.
Peyton grabbed her things from Gwen's hands and glared. "Whatever."
-
Peyton was 3 minutes late because she honestly couldn't care less. Her first period teacher was never on time so who was he to give her detention and get mad at her.
When she did arrive, he still wasn't there. What the hell was she rushing for?
"PEYTON!" Jade called her over as she sighed and walked up to the brunette. "You are late. You're never late." She pointed out.
—"I had a bit of a distraction."
Jade nodded, "cool? I guess." She handed Peyton a pencil and a paper. "Here, one of the guys thought you were cute and asked me to give you their phone number."
Peyton looked at it, "and it was from a man?" Jade hummed and nodded. "Ew." She ripped it up and got up to throw it away.
Jade scoffed as Peyton came back to sit down. "He was hot, you didn't even give him a chance."
"I don't need too. You already said the terms he and him."
"You can't be single forever."
Peyton shrugged, "whatever."
"I'll set you up with one of the girl's from the volleyball team. They are hot and they all have dream bodies."
"You sound like a straight blue eyed with blonde hair man."
"Very specific. Did Conner say this to you?" Peyton groaned as the teacher walked into the classroom. "Okay, fine, I'll set you up with someone, just you wait."
But Peyton didn't want that.
She raised her hand up to her necklace and she felt around the edges of the ring that hung from her necklace. She then smiled at the memory.
Jade glanced over at her a few times before rolling her eyes. "You need to get rid of that necklace as well, it looks stupid and you will get no one with it on." She then pulled it off of Peyton's neck as the raven haired girl gasped.
"Jade, what the fuck!" Peyton life flashed before her eyes. "Give it back." She reached for it but jade pulled it out of reach.
—"stop it, Peyton. It's broken now anyways." Jade assured
"That's not the point."
"Ms.Gomez, give Peyton back her things." The teacher demanded before crossing his arms.
The brunette sighed and gave it back to Peyton. Peyton heart dropped as she didn't see the ring.
It must have fell.
Peyton immediately dropped to the floor and searched for the ring.
"Ms. Harper, I would like to ask you to get up."
Peyton shook her head as she looked under the students seats for the ring and found nothing.
"Ms. Harper..." he started
Tears were visible in Peyton's eyes. "I can't. I have to find it or she'll hate me."
Jade chewed on her bottom lip as she watched her best friend look for the ring.
"Ms. Harper you are disturbing my class, if you don't get up then I will have to send you to the principal office."
Peyton turned over to him as her face grew red and tears poured out her eyes heavily. "Do what you have to do." She gritted through her teeth before turning around to look for it.
Jade sighed before assuring, "Peyton it's just a ring."
"Go to the principal office, Peyton." The teacher demanded.
"Just a ring?" Peyton asked before glaring at her, "well then I guess you're just a bitch. A basic bitch." Peyton grabbed her things before storming out of the class and down to the principal office.
