In the context of this sentence, "nailing it" is a phrase that means that you are doing extraordinarily well, which is exactly what I think of my sister's hard work. Seeing as I got her snails as a gift, I make a pun replacing "nail" with "snail", and they still sound fairly similar, Typing off my pun with rhythmic and humorous factors.
