Tournaments
The next day of the tournament came bright and early. The first tournament would be for the juniors who were not yet trainers. There were sixteen participants taking part this year. Ash was up first against a girl that went by the name Giselle. She was a really cute little girl but very rude and spoiled in Ash's opinion. She had insulted Pikachu and Charmander for not wanting to evolve and having an Everstone. Ash rarely got angry but he bit his tongue and answered her calmly.
Ash, "You know for someone who's smart and coming from a 'rich' background you act like a mannerless rude street child. As for my Pokemon I'll let them prove themselves in a battle how strong they are."
Gary oooohed from the side, "Burn!"
Giselle's face burned red in embarrassment, "Ha! As if you will win."
Yoshi was blanked face as the referee decided to start the battle. Ash had picked Pikachu while Giselle smirked and chose Cubone. Giselle and Cubone went on the offensive first and the battle started.
Giselle, "Headbutt Cubone."
Ash, "Agility to dodge and don't stop."
Pikachu dodged the attack and moved in really fast speed around Cubone making him confused.
Giselle, "Cubone, bone rush, get that mouse."
Pikachu however dodged it as well thanks to his speed and kept moving.
Ash, "Double team followed by iron tail."
Giselle, "What? Cubone use boomerang, quick."
Pikachu however dodged the boomerang and landed a powerful iron tail on Cubone flinging him out of the battle field.
Giselle, "No Cubone."
Referee, "Cubone is unable to battle, Pikachu is the winner."
Pikachu, -Weak, am I? That'll show you.-
Ash picked his partner up hugging him, "Pikachu, that was amazing."
Giselle, "Don't cry, Cubone! It'll be okay."
Ash, "Do you know why you lost? It was not because Cubone was weak, it was because you were very arrogant and underestimate your opponent."
Giselle looked at Ash before looking away, "I know and I'm sorry."
Ash shook his head, "It's not me you should apologize to."
Giselle, "Right, I'm sorry Pikachu, I have to admit I did not see that coming."
Pikachu, -Forgiven kid.-
Ash smiled and nodded before walking away from her. Unknown to him however Giselle had decided he would be her rival. He was strong, smart and actually proved her wrong something that did not happen often as she was a prodigy. Next was between Gary and a young boy by the name of Oliver. Gary chose his Eevee to fight against Oliver's Eevee.
Oliver, "Let's see who's Eevee is best."
Gary grinned, "May the best Eevee win."
Referee, "Let the battle begin."
Oliver, "Quick attack Eevee."
Gary, "Stand your ground and reflect."
Oliver frowned seeing Eevee get bounced back because of the shield, "Eevee are you okay?"
Getting a chirp in return Oliver smiled, "Alright Eevee swift."
Gary, "Dodge and prepare shadow ball."
Oliver, "Oh that doesn't sound so good. Quick tackle him before he finishes the attack."
Eevee ran after it's brethren trying to knock him out only for Gary's Eevee took release a shadow ball right on his face. Eevee tried to shake it off but anyone could see he was in pain.
Oliver, "Oh no! Eevee are you ok?"
Gary, "Finish this with tackle."
Gary's Eevee tackled Oliver's Eevee causing him to faint with swirls on his eyes.
Referee, "Oliver and Eevee are unable to battle. Gary and Eevee are the winner."
Gary whooped in joy and hugged Eevee, "Great job Eevee, you were awesome. Our first official match too."
Eevee purred satisfied, -All thanks to our training.-
Oliver, "That was a fun battle Gary. Next time however I will win."
Gary smiled, "I look forward to it."
Gary and Ash won the rest of their battles. There was a lunch break in between for them to relax before it picked up again. As it turns out they were more advanced than others when it came to training and battling. At the end they were facing each other as the two finalist.
Gary smirked at Ash, "Let's do our best Ash."
Ash grinned back, "You got it Gary."
Gary, "Ready Eevee?"
Eevee, -Ready as I'll ever be.-
Ash, "I choose you, Pikachu."
Pikachu, -Don't think I'll go easy on you just because we are friends.-
Referee, "Let the final battle begin."
Gary, "Eevee quick attack."
Ash, "Pikachu counter with agility."
The two Pokemon zipped and tackled each other more than once without letting up.
Gary, "Iron tail Eevee."
Ash, "Counter with your Iron tail."
The two attacks clashed once again sending a wave of power across the battle field. Surge who was sitting with the other gym leaders and representatives sucked in a harsh breath.
Blaine looked at him curiously, "You alright there?"
Surge, "Yeah! Are you sure those two aren't trainers? They battle like they have been training for a while now."
Blaine rubbed his chin, "Ah! They are the Professor's kids, are they not? As expected from them."
Surge turned his attention back to the battle where Pikachu was using thunderbolt and Eevee answered it with a reflect. The two attack collided with the shield forcing the electric Pokemon back before he got back up and was tackled. Pikachu used growl causing Eevee told tense up allowing him a chance to escape.
Gary, "Head butt Eevee."
Ash, "Tackle Pikachu."
The two Pokemon attacked each other head first only to get a double knock out. The referee checked Eevee before checking Pikachu then nodding.
Referee, "Both Pokemon are unable to battle. We have a tie."
The audience was quite before they erupted into cheers. Gary and Ash walked over to their Pokemon who were waking up.
Gary rubbed Eevee's head, "Good job bud."
Ash hugged Pikachu, "You were awesome buddy."
Eevee, -Next time, I'll beat him.-
Pikachu, -You wish.-
Amanda clapped her hands, "Well done children, well done. That was really impressive battling. Since you both tied you will get a set of pokeballs each as well as a set of evolution stones available in Kanto."
Ash's eyes sparkled, "Wao."
Gary's was twinkling, "So cool."
They had an awarding ceremony on the same day where Gary and Ash were both awarded the first prize consisting of three lure balls, two heal balls and one cherish ball plus the evolution stones from Kanto. The second prize, consisting of two lure balls and two heal balls was won by a kid named Paul who was defeated by Gary and later defeated Sakura who had faced Ash. Sakura had won the third prize which were two lure balls that she showed off to her four older sisters.
Amanda, "Well folks, we certainly had a very impressive bunch battling this year. Now tomorrow we'll start the tournament for trainers, so trainers be prepared."
Lisa joined the three boys with a blank face getting a curious look from Green, "Congratulations guys!"
Gary smiled, "Thanks Lisa ~"
Ash grinned, "Thank you Lisa."
Green, "What's wrong?"
Lisa's expression became dark, "I met Damien this morning. He's a creep I'll tell you that."
Ash looked at her concerned, "What happened?"
Lisa grimaced, "He tried to flirt with me."
Green, "Yikes."
Lisa, "Told him I got a boyfriend already though it didn't stop him from trying."
Ash blinked, "You and Luke are together."
Gary, "Congratulations!"
Lisa smiled, "Thank you ~"
Green, "Do not worry, we'll deal with him soon enough."
Lisa sighed, "I hope so. Let's forget about this for now. Man, your battles were something else, you know. When you start your journeys I want to battle you myself."
Ash, "Really? You think so?"
Gary, "I would love to battle you as well Lisa."
Lisa, "Well let's have dinner together. I honestly can't wait for tomorrow to kick his ass."
Green smirked, "Let's see who gets to him first yeah? Oh and I talked to Nurse Joy, she agreed to do a thorough check on all his Pokemon once the battles were over."
They enjoyed the dinner together and chatted about the tournament, halfway through dinner they were joined by the other participants who congratulated him. Even the little female Charmander joined in on the enjoyment, she had seen her trainer earlier and had become depressed a bit but the others didn't let her be sad and distracted her. Green was relieved before he turned towards where Charmander was looking to see a dark haired youth in a cream shirt talking to a few others.
Green's eyes sharpened, 'So that's him!'
He looked at Lisa then back at the target and Lisa nodded in affirmative that it was him. Green sneered before he turned back to the table and smiled at the kids. The next day started off with a speech from Amanda before the matches started up. Lisa and Raichu went first against a guy named Ryuuske and his Electabuzz.
Lisa, "Raichu time to shine!"
Ryuuske, "Let's go Electabuzz!"
Raichu had won against the Electabuzz. The next battle was between Green, Delphox and a guy with an Arcanine. Green won his battle and the two of them rose up through the tournament till there were only four participants left from the original sixty four trainers. However the finals would be on the third day which is the last day of the cruise. The next day the four finalist woke up excited about the battle. Lisa was up against Green however and Damien was up against a guy from Ecruteak city.
Lisa, "Looks like we get to decide who beats Damien up after this match."
Green smirked, "Looks like it. I won't go easy on you just because you are a good friend."
Lisa smirked back, "I would be insulted if you did held back on me."
Referee, "Challengers please choose your first Pokemon."
Lisa, "Let's dance Jynx."
Green, "Time to shine Drowzee."
Referee, "Let the battle begin."
Lisa, "Jynx, ice beam."
Green, "Deflect it with mirror."
The ice beam attack was returned to Jynx hitting her.
Lisa, "You okay Jynx."
Jynx nodded before shaking the ice move off, -You are strong.-
Drowzee, -Thank you.-
Lisa, "Hypnosis Jynx."
Green, "Counter with your own Hypnosis Drowzee."
The attacks collided with each other confusing both Pokemon.
Green, "Drowzee snap out of it. Remember what we trained."
Lisa, "Jynx use double slap."
Jynx ended up slapping herself but it knocked her back to normal. The ice type noticed Drowzee was meditating most probably to get rid of the effect.
Lisa, "Quick Jynx use dragon rage on Drowzee before he wakes up."
Jynx used dragon rage which swirled around the meditating Pokemon making it hard to see what was going on. However after a few seconds light shone through the dragon rage and next thing you know there was a Hypno standing instead of Drowzee.
Green, "Alright Hypno. Now use shadow ball. Follow it up with thunder punch."
Hypno's attack hit Jynx straight on point making her struggle to get up. However Hypno did not let up, he followed the shadow ball with the electric attack knocking the ice type out.
Referee saw there were swirls on Jynx eyes, "Jynx is unable to battle. Hypno wins. Challenger please bring out your second Pokemon."
Lisa returned Jynx, "You were awesome my girl, you will get a special treat later. Alright Raichu you are up."
Green, "Return Hypno, thanks for the win. You were amazing."
Hypno, -No problem it was fun.-
Green, "Let's go Delphox."
Delphox, -My turn finally!-
Raichu, -Let the best girl win.-
Delphox, -And whoever wins kicks Damien's ass.-
Referee, "Let the battle begin."
Lisa, "Raichu thunderbolt."
Green, "Counter with Mystical Fire Delphox."
The two elemental attacks clashed against each other creating a beautiful and powerful sight. Ash watched mystified by the powers and colour of the battle.
Lisa, "Thunder punch."
Green, "Future sight followed by Will-O-Wisp."
As the thunder punch cane closer Delphox dodged and shot her attack at point blank range hitting Raichu head on. Raichu gave a shout as she stumbled back trying to get rid of the burning sensation.
Lisa, "You okay girl."
Raichu gave a nod before turning to her opponent, -I have to say my friend you are very strong.-
Delphox, -Thank you sister.-
Lisa, "Electro ball Rai."
Green, "Use psychic followed by fire spin."
As the electro ball came closer Delphox used psychic to turn the direction of the attack towards Raichu who used her lightning rod ability to absorb the electricity. Delphox however followed it with fire spin that hit Raichu once again causing damage.
Green, "Don't let up girl Fire Blast."
The fire blast hit Raichu who was paralyzed head on causing her to fly back and get knocked out.
Referee, "Raichu is unable to battle. Delphox wins the match."
Lisa returned Raichu, "You were amazing baby girl. This just shows we have to train harder."
Green pat Delphox, "You were awesome Del."
Delphox purred at the praise before turning to Lisa to enquire if Raichu was alright. Lisa was surprised to hear a female voice in her head before she brightens and assures her Raichu would be okay. Green smiles at the interaction before turning to where Damien was watching them with a dark face. Green smirked at him tauntingly making him angry before the announcer said they will take a break before the final match.
