Runes
Green looked at the bracelet made from wooden beads that Ash and Gary had pushed in front of him on the table. His eye twitched when he heard some of the thoughts the people around them were having. He took the bracelet and put it on his left wrist, it was a snug fit. Green looked at the three infront of him looking at him expectantly.
Ash nodded, "It fits."
Gary smiled, "Push a little bit of your psychic power into it big bro."
Green raised his eyebrow but did what Gary said. He focused some of his powers and ran it through the bracelet getting a slight glow that was unnoticeable in the bright afternoon sun, thankfully. Green immediately noticed the difference when it happened. The voices were now faint, they were still there but they were not as headache inducing as before. Green smiled in relief, thankful that it helped a bit.
Green, "The loud thoughts are muted now. They are still there but not as distracting as before."
Ash smiled making some of the girls coo, "I'm happy we could help."
Red looked at the bracelet curiously, "How long have you two been working on this?"
Gary rubbed his neck, "Ever since we noticed you were growing stronger fast and big brother here looked like he was getting migraines, like he had heard something stupid."
Green laughed, "Trust me! You don't want to know what sort of idiocy people think in their minds."
Ash sweatdropped, "That bad?"
Green nodded and lowered his invisible shield that neither Ash nor Gary had noticed, "Afraid so! Well now, that we are here how about we get something to eat?"
Red smirked at the awed faces their younger siblings made, "You get the food, I'll get the drinks. You two stay here. You are explaining how you made that and those interesting words and symbols."
Ash nodded, "Fine by me ~ But you are telling us your adventures in Rota, deal?"
Green laughed, "Sure!"
As the shield was taken down, the Pokemon noticed some of the looks that their table was getting. Pikachu and Eevee got on the table while Litten made himself comfortable by the front of the table to keep an eye on people and Charmander sat on the other side facing the people walking to and fro. There were more people around than they were comfortable with but the four Pokemon understood, once they start their journey, they will no doubt end up in places with a lot of people, so it was best to learn to adjust.
Gary looked at Ash in wonder, "I can't believe it actually worked."
Ash looked at Gary, "Right?"
Gary continued grinning, "When you found that chest filled with books in the cave with those strange words and writings last year. I honestly thought it was just another dead language. Who knew, we would luck out on finding a treasure worth more instead!"
Ash nodded sweat dropping again, 'I only found it because Death visited me again last year in the evening, while I was alone in my room giving Lucario who sensed something wrong an almost heart attack again. Which freaked Pikachu out in return. Death must have a thing for teasing my Pokemon till they freak out. Too bad, I can't tell them about Death, that is their choice, if they want to be known in this world. I can almost imagine there being an organization crazy enough in this world trying to control Death. Yeah! Best not to say a thing.'
Ash could feel Death's amusement and exasperation which made him conclude his thoughts were right, "It was a long shot though, I was not even sure it would work. I'm glad it did."
Unbeknownst to them however, they were being eavesdropped on by a few trainers who caught on to the words treasure and chest. These trainers would later go on a wild goose chase and end up finding the infamous Alakazam and Gengar temples that held the two first of it's kinds' gigantamax Pokemon. Only for everyone to be put to sleep later on by a gigantamax Jigglypuff, making them wonder if they had dreamed it up, giving the local Rangers a headache when they finally found the missing trainers. You would think a trainer would be smarter then to sleep out in the open? But that is a story for another time.
As the two best friends were talking oblivious to the interested looks they were receiving from the tables nearby, Green and Red returned with the promised food and drinks. The two of them while happy to see the Pokemon watching out for their younger siblings, they were pretty annoyed with the fact they were being watched so blatantly. The two soon realized why they were getting attention, Green quickly put up a shield as Red got their attention. It made it look like Red was making them talk softly so others will not be able to hear. Some of the female trainers turned away a little disappointed at not knowing what the two cute kids were talking about anymore while the male trainers looked away a little embarrassed that they were eavesdropping on two school kids.
Red sighed, "You two really do attract attention. I'm actually a little worried about the time it will be your turn to go on a journey."
Both Ash and Gary looked at little lost at that, Green spoke up, "Red is right.... Maybe we should train one of our Pokemon to keep perverts away."
Ash, "Ummmmm. I don't understand. but okay."
Gary, "I don't either... What are perverts?"
Green, "They are questionable bad people."
Red, "Who will want to touch you without permission. Never let anyone touch you without your say so. Do you understand?"
Ash nodded, "Yes, I think so! That does sound very uncomfortable."
Gary agreed, "And disturbing and terrifying."
Green nodded at that, "It is wrong."
Red, "If anyone, you don't want touches you, tell us, okay. Or tell your Pokemon to attack them without holding back."
Ash and Gary looked at each other then answered together, "Okay! We will."
Green grinned, "Now what does these words on these little beads mean? What are these symbols? And where did you learn them from? Also, eat you must be hungry by now."
Ash rubbed his neck, "Remember the time we told you about finding a cave and looking around it?"
Red nodded, "You said you did not find anything except a chest with seven really old books inside."
Gary who was munching on some fries spoke up, "Those books actually contained a very old language. Probably a dead language? Because we searched and searched for a document on it. It doesn't exists. The words and symbols are completely different and new."
Green's curiosity grew, "I think, I want to see these books now. They sound fascinating."
Red finished his lunch and held Green's wrist with the bracelet, "We can check it out tonight. Stay over with us?"
Gary brightened up, "Can we?"
Green, "Why not? We can say we have missed you and want to have a sleepover. We'll just have to grab your books and bag for school tomorrow that's all."
Gary beamed, "Awesome."
Red, "So, what are these symbols and what does this writing here mean?"
Ash started to explain, "The symbol that looks like a ball with wings on it's side stands for the free mind. A mind that is open and always learning. The one on it's left, that looks like a shield, is for protection. On the right, the symbol that looks like it has three circles stands for diversion. If you focus on it with your powers you can divert attention away from you. The one that looks like a book stands for focus, I think that's pretty self explanatory. The last one is my favorite, it's a rune that connects you to three other bracelets."
Gary grinned as he took out three more similar hand bracelets, "There is just one downside. We need to prick our fingers and add a drop of blood to each bracelet."
Red blinked, "This is... You two were planning this for how long now?"
Ash, "You will be going on your journey soon, and you can't always just call or visit us all the time, especially if you are in the middle of a large forest. So Gary and I have been studying the books hard to understand it and come up with a way to know that you are okay, at least."
Green's eyes softened, "Come here you~ Show us how to do this."
Red held his hand out and gestured for Ash to come as well. Ash smiled happily and went over only to be picked up and settled on his brother's lap. Ash blushed at bit at the action but did not protest. Pikachu and Eevee looked at the bracelets in curiosity while Litten and Charmander who were not interested much got on top of the empty table with the empty plates and drink glasses pushed to one corner.
Red asked softly, "We have not gone yet, but you already miss us, don't you? You are just adorable, my baby brothers~"
Gary who had also been picked up by Green pouted, "Can you blame us? You guys are planning on becoming Champions and straight after that, Gym Leader and Front Line Hitter for the League. Of course, we would miss you already. Once you start serious training, there will hardly be anytime for you to rest or visit. I mean look at big sis, even when she visits, if someone calls her she needs to go because it's her responsibility as a top coordinator to help the League."
Green sighed, "Gary.... Baby bro, you know Leaf is an adult right? And adults have to work?"
Ash puffed his cheeks, "We know and we accept it, doesn't mean we have to like it though."
Red was tickled in his heart and he kissed Ash on the cheek making him turn slightly pink, "So then, we need to add blood by pricking our fingers. Where do we add it and just one drop?"
Gary nodded, "Yeah, I asked Gramps to teach me how to sanitize needles a few months back and I got four of them here. We just need to prick a finger and add a drop to that symbol that stands for connection. Each bracelet has four beads with the connection symbol, with it so just put it in one."
Red nodded and took a pin pricking his finger and added a drop to Ash's bracelet first getting a red glow from one of the beads, then he added to Gary's and finally Green's. Green did the same starting with Gary's then Ash and finally Red. Ash and Gary added their blood drop to their older brother's bracelets first before adding to theirs together. Each bracelet had three beads shining a bright red that turned blue. It got curious looks from both the older boys.
Ash, "Blue means you are safe and healthy, if it turns yellow, it means you are sick."
Gary, "Pink means you got slightly hurt, if it turns purple, it means you are hurt badly, if it turns red, it means you are in mortal peril, black means you are dead."
Green, "I see! What if someone takes it off?"
Ash shrugged, "Brown."
Red scratched his chin, "If someone takes it off and then died then?"
Ash frowned, "It would turn black. Do not even think about dying on me! I'll find a way to get you. You hear!"
Gary looked at his brother seriously, "Ash is right! We will find a way to get you back and keep you with us."
Red held his hands up, "I would not even dare! My Princess!"
Green, "That's right, My Prince! Your wish is my command."
Ash and Gary both blushed at the new nicknames before huffing and grumbling out they better keep their promise. Red grinned as he got up and carried Ash in his arms. Green on the other hand let Gary down and held his hand instead. They gathered their empty plates and glasses and deposited them on a recycling bin before moving out of the eating area to enjoy the rest of the festival. It was late afternoon and early evening as they went to watch the contests being held. The indoor contest was over and now they were going to have the outdoor events which was a fashion show and Pokemon battle between the eight remaining contestants.
