Chapter 22
Yoohyeon ended up staying up most of the night, debating on sending the message. By two in the morning, she had and then fell asleep. When she woke up the next morning, she frowned when she realized she sent a whole string of gibberish since she was tired.
“Minji how do I fix this?!” Yoohyeon groaned, showing the older woman who was still trying to wake up.
“Just explain? I don’t know…” She yawned.
“You have to help me!” She whined.
“Okay, okay!” Minji took the phone from her, typed a quick message out, and sent it. “There,” She mumbled while handing the phone back.
yootoni_: sorry I was so tired but I meant to type hi LOL
“Why would you write that?” Yoohyeon frowned.
“I don’t know how your text, so… I defaulted,” she shrugged. “Just blame nerves if she questions it.” She went right back in the bed, pulling the covers up before being shaken awake.
“Minji!” Yoohyeon continued to whine.
“You went to bed so late, how are you up this early and awake!” Minji complained.
“I run on little sleep. But help! What do I do now!” Yoohyeon frowned.
“Maybe eat breakfast? Shower? I don’t know! If she hasn’t responded I can’t help!” She groaned.
“You both need to go back to bed. It is seven in the morning on our vacation.” Siyeon grumbled from under her pillow.
“It’s actually six,” Yoohyeon corrected.
“I’m going to kill you,” Siyeon muttered.
“No killing, just sleeping,” Minji chuckled before cuddling with her girlfriend. “But seriously. If she doesn’t respond, don’t worry. Just go to bed,” she whispered to Yoohyeon.
It had been a few days since her message, and nothing. Just radio silence. She wanted to scream at Minji for letting her do this, but she couldn’t. It was her decision.
“She still hasn’t responded…” Yoohyeon whined while they sat in the car together.
“Maybe she’s busy?” Siyeon asked.
“What could she possibly be busy with?” Yoohyeon frowned.
“Dong volunteers during the summers,” Minji stated. “Did she not tell you that?”
“Well… no… but I guess she would’ve if…” Yoohyeon mumbled.
“She could just be busy,” Minji chuckled. “Don’t read too much into it.”
Yoohyeon did her best, trying her hardest to not get all worked up over the unread messages. Just trying to enjoy her summer without being hung up on some girl.
They went on hikes, enjoyed more beaches, and all around just relaxed. She couldn’t help but feel jealous whenever she looked over at Minji and Siyeon, both of them taking the most ridiculous photos together and laughing about them.
But she was happy Siyeon was smiling and having a great time.
Before they knew it, their month away from the world had ended and they were busy packing up to spend the rest of their summer at their own homes.
“So what do you have planned for the rest of the summer Minji?” Siyeon’s mom asked.
“Um… I might go home…” she shrugged.
Yoohyeon frowned when she saw Minji’s uncertain face.
“Might? Do you have other plans?” Siyeon’s father frowned.
“Not really?” Minji chuckled nervously. “I just stay home… I don’t really do much during the summer…” She tried to play it off like she didn’t have much of a life, but it was hard.
“You should stay with us! We just redid a portion of the house and we might have some barbecues and just more summer fun,” Siyeon’s father suggested.
“I-I don’t want to impose… really, this month has been so much fun…” She smiled. “And I have to bring Cherry back home…” She frowned while looking at the little white puffball next to her.
“Cherry can stay too! We love her,” Siyeon's mom smiled before going to pet the little dog.
Yoohyeon nudged Minji with her elbow, glancing at Siyeon’s parents before giving her a small nod.
“Okay… I… I would need to do laundry…” She finally agreed.
When the parents left them to pack, Yoohyeon gave Minji a knowing look.
“You deserve to have one good summer,” Yoohyeon whispered.
“If I stay with them all summer how am I going to take Cherry back to my parents?” Minji frowned. “They’re going to be upset that I’ll just be dropping her off again…”
“Does your apartment let you have dogs?” Yoohyeon asked.
“I think so? I’d have to ask… and probably pay a stupid pet fee…” She frowned.
“Well, did you pack all of Cherry’s stuff?”
“I did… Minus her extra bed but essentially yes. I packed her food, her bowls, her toys… I got nervous that she wouldn’t have everything she needed..” Minji frowned.
“Then why not pay the pet fee? Keep her with you. That way your parents can’t get mad.” Yoohyeon gave her a smile, hoping it would be enough to get her to keep her dog.
When they were back at Siyeon’s house, it was quiet. Siyeon showed Minji to the guest room, allowing her to get settled before they made their way to her own room.
Minji smiled at the different posters on the walls, multiple pictures of people that Minji didn’t recognize at all. So she was safe to assume they were other friends and maybe extended family.
“Your home is nice…” Minji whispered while petting the little dog in her arms.
“Thanks, lived in it most of my life,” Siyeon joked, earning a laugh from her girlfriend.
“You know… Now… That we’re finally alone…” Minji set Cherry down on the floor, moving to the bed that Siyeon was currently seated on. “We could have some fun…” She smiled before sitting extremely close to Siyeon.
“As in… Like… games?” The younger was slightly panicking.
“It can be like a game,” Minji smirked before leaning in.
She was immediately stopped, being held at her shoulders by Siyeon. She was confused, but pulled away and scooted herself back a bit.
“Did… I do something wrong?” Minji asked.
“I’m not… I’m not ready for that,” Siyeon whispered, clearly panicked at the entire ordeal. “I like what we have,” She mumbled.
“Okay… Just… Sharing a bed and kissing… got it…” Minji sighed. “Have you… done it before?” She asked, watching her shake her head. “Are you scared because it’ll be your first time?” Another shake of the head. “Are you…” she paused, trying to think of another reason for why she wouldn’t want to take that step. “Saving yourself?” She questioned.
“No,” Siyeon answered.
“Then why not? Not that I’m incredibly upset you cock blocked me but… we’ve been together a long time… I just… want to take that step with you,” Minji sighed.
“And I don’t want to right now.” Siyeon stood up from her bed, moving to the dresser across the room. She fiddled with the little Lego builds that stayed there and it made Minji a little upset that she was trying to escape the conversation.
“Siyeon… Then why? Are you not attracted to me sexually? Because that’s fine, we just need to talk about these things in order to understand each other better…” Minji frowned.
Oh, how she regretted those words.
“Are you clean?” Siyeon’s voice was barely above a whisper, and it made Minji have to ask her to repeat herself.
“Clean?” Minji frowned, not understanding the context.
“Clean.” Siyeon repeated the word, finally looking at her. “I know you had moments with Dong… But I don’t know what she has… or had, and could’ve given to you… and I don’t know anything else about you… in that way…” she frowned. “I just don’t want to take that step and be met with something I didn’t ask for or know…”
“So… You think I’m not clean…” Minji sighed. “Guess I’ll have to deal with that…”
“Are you?” Siyeon frowned.
“Doesn’t matter if I say yes or no. You won’t believe a word I say otherwise unless I get tested right?” Minji stood up from the bed, watching Siyeon nod her head. “Got it…” she muttered before picking Cherry up and leaving the bedroom. She walked back into the guest room, deciding to calm down before starting a fight in the one place that was accepting her into her home for the rest of the summer.
