AVA SILVA AND BEATRICE YOUNG COMES OUT OF THE CLOSET
Last night, on Valentine’s day, actress Ava Silva and musician Beatrice Young announced on The Oprah Winfrey Show that they are queer and they are in a relationship together.
The two revealed that they started an on-and-off relationship on 2016 to 2019. They were friends for a few years before that.
On the interview, Young revealed that she identifies as a lesbian and Silva was the first person she truly fell in love with. Meanwhile, Silva confirmed that she is bisexual after years of saying that she chose not label herself.
Watch the full two-hour interview on The Oprah Winfrey’s Show’s YouTube Channel.
“Good morning,” Ava kisses Beatrice who is placing breakfast on the table. “It’s late, why didn’t you wake me?”
“You looked so peaceful,” Beatrice smiles and pulls a chair out for her. “I know you haven’t been sleeping well these past days so I let you sleep in.”
“Thank you,” Ava says as Beatrice gives her a cup of coffee. “How’s the internet? Have you checked?”
“They are surprisingly supportive,” Beatrice sips her coffee. “There are some who thinks it’s some sort of PR but their argument is just stupid.”
“That’s expected,” Ava nods. “Have you talked to your Mom again?”
“I think she’s on a plane now,” Beatrice smiles. “She sent me her itinerary earlier.”
“Did you send Paul to fetch her or are you going to do it?”
“Paul is on it,” Beatrice says. “I want to make sure you’re alright.”
“I am alright,” Ava takes her hand. “I’m so much better after we filmed the interview.”
“That’s good to know.”
“Oh, JC said something,” Beatrice mentions.
“What?”
“He publicly apologized to you,” Beatrice tells her. “He said he gets it now.”
“Thank god,” Ava sighs. “I thought he blabbered again.”
“It’s a smart move not to antagonize you,” Beatrice says. “A lot of people sympathized with us after all.”
“Do you think he just said it?”
“Not sure,” Beatrice shrugs. “But I have a feeling that he means it.”
“That’s a lot coming from you,” Ava chuckles. “You truly didn’t like him at all.”
“I did like his acting in my music video,” Beatrice reminds her.
Ava laughs. Her phone pings.
“Who is it?”
“Speaking of the devil,” Ava says while opening the message. “‘Good morning, Ava. I just want to ask you if I could call.’ It’s JC. What do you think?”
Beatrice just shrugs and eats her pancakes.
Ava pushes the call button and puts it on speaker.
“Hello?”
“Hi, JC,” Ava greets. “What’s up?”
“I just want to call to apologize,” JC says. “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking these past weeks after that GQ interview I did. You probably hated it if you have read it.”
“I was annoyed,” Ava tells him. Beatrice raises an eyebrow. Ava just dismisses her reaction with a wave of her hand.
“I’m truly sorry,” JC tells her. “I realize now that we haven’t had the best relationship but I know you did try. I should’ve agreed with the divorce the first time you brought it up. We could have spared each other the pain.”
“Yeah,” Ava agrees. “But that’s done and over now. I want to apologize too for not being honest.”
“It’s alright,” JC says. “When I watched you two last night…” he trails off. “I… You two are great together. I wish I could have something like that. I think a lot of people did.”
“Thank you,” Ava says. “I’m sure someone is out there for you.”
“I hope so,” he chuckles.
“How’s Broadway?”
“Great, great,” JC says, excitement in his voice. “We are rehearsing and will start performing in April.”
“You sound really happy and excited,” Ava comments. “I’m happy for you. Bea and I will make sure to catch it.”
“Really? That would be awesome. Thank you.”
“Yeah, good luck.”
“Same to your films. I’m proud of you. You always told me how if you’re going to come back to acting, you’ll try different things and you now do.”
“Thanks, JC. That means a lot.”
“I guess I’ll see you around?”
“Yeah.”
“Goodbye, Ava.”
“Bye, JC.”
“I’m right, he’s sincere,” Beatrice comments after they hang up.
“I’ve never heard him like this before,” Ava admits.
“Uh, oh, are you falling for him again? Should I be concerned?”
“Shut up,” Ava laughs and digs in her breakfast too.
They had Helena do some cleaning before Suzanne arrives. Ava can tell that Beatrice is very anxious because she keeps facing back and forth.
“Babe, will you relax?” Ava says to her. “It’s not like she’s going to barge in and say, ‘take back everything you said!’”
“I know,” Beatrice says. “But I can’t help it.”
Ava stands up and embraces her. “It’s going to be alright.”
They hear the door open.
“I hope I’m not interrupting anything,” Suzanne says. Paul is behind her with her suitcases. “Sorry, the door was open.”
“Mom,” Beatrice hugs her. Ava follows, smiling.
“Mrs. Young,” Ava greets her.
“Call me Suzanne,” she says to her. “Or Mom.”
“Okay,” Ava smiles.
“Come here,” she hugs Ava as well.
“You must be tired from your trip,” Ava says. “Please, sit down. Do you want some tea?”
“Yes, please,” Suzanne smiles.
Beatrice leads her to the living room and Ava prepares tea and some biscuits.
“This place is amazing,” Suzanne comments.
“Ava has taste,” Beatrice smiles.
“I can see that,” she says looking at her knowingly.
“Mom!” Beatrice blushes.
“Look at you blushing,” Suzanne grins. “You’re very happy.”
“I am,” Beatrice grins as well.
“Here you go,” Ava serves it in the coffee table.
“Mom, how long do you plan on staying?” Beatrice asks.
“Do you want to get rid of me already?” Suzanne sips her tea.
“Mom, you know that’s not what I mean,” Beatrice sighs.
“Maybe two weeks? Or a month? Depends on what Areala has planned, you know?” she says.
“Stay with us then,” Ava suggests.
“Are you sure?” Suzanne asks. “I don’t want to intrude.”
“We’ll be happy to have you with us,” Ava assures her.
“All right, then,” she smiles at them.
“How’s Areala?” Beatrice asks.
“I talked to her after the interview,” Suzanne says. “She’s still a little scared for you but she says she understands. I told her that we got to let you do your own decisions. To let you be how you want to be.”
“You really are not mad I kept it from you?”
“I’m disappointed in myself, Beatrice,” Suzanne sighs. “I feel like I failed as a parent because you thought you could not talk to me about these things.”
“Mom, you are a great mom,” Beatrice assures her. “I was just scared to be who I am.”
“You shouldn’t have,” Suzanne tells her. “You’re strong and kind. You’re a lovely person. Sometimes I wonder what I did to deserve such a good kid.”
“You aren’t mad, really?”
“I’m proud of you,” Suzanne tells her. “Very proud. And if you wonder if I look at you differently now, the answer is yes. I mean, you’re still my lovely daughter Beatrice but I am much, much, much prouder of you.”
“Thanks Mom,” Beatrice hugs her tight.
Ava is on her seat, silently crying as she watches the mother-and-daughter interact.
“Oh, by the way, I haven’t introduced Ava to you as my girlfriend,” Beatrice says.
“Ava, I’m so happy,” Suzanne goes to sit next to her. “I have always been fond of you, you know that.”
“Of course,” Ava nods. “And I’m grateful.”
“I’m glad you’re the one that's with my daughter,” she tells her. “I have always been proud of her but her growth…” she pauses. “I think you’re a huge part of it and it makes me prouder of her. What you did, it’s very brave.”
“Thank you,” Ava smiles at her.
After Suzanne settled her things in on one of the rooms, they went out for lunch. Since Suzanne is not really used to the paparazzi, they went somewhere that they can avoid them. The lunch took three-hours because they just enjoyed talking with each other. The place was packed but they are glad nobody really paid attention to them. Beatrice was full of joy that she can now fully be herself around everyone. It feels so good that they can still have their precious moments inside a crowded room.
Of course, there were still people who posted about it on social media. They were trending all day. That night, Ava’s parents called.
“We’re so proud of you, mija,” Reya says.
“We have watched the interview like three times now,” Vincent chuckles.
“Thank you, it means a lot,” Ava smiles.
“Beatrice’s mom is with you guys?” Reya asks.
“Yes, she’s been staying for maybe a month,” Ava tells them.
“Oh, we should go and meet her,” Vincent says.
“You could but promise me you won’t be embarrassing,” Ava says.
“We promise,” Reya says.
“I don’t believe that for a second but okay,” Ava chuckles.
“Just tell me when you will go and I’ll arrange for us to have dinner or something,” Ava says.
“Okay, mija,” Reya quips. “See you soon. We love you.”
“Love you too.”
“Who’s that?” Beatrice asks as she got out the shower. She sits on the vanity to dry her hair.
“My parents,” Ava approaches her and takes the towel to do it herself. Beatrice closes her eyes as Ava dries her hair.
“Everything fine?”
“Yes,” Ava smiles. “They loved our interview.”
Beatrice chuckles.
“They want to meet your mom actually,” Ava says. “Diego probably showed them pictures of us having lunch earlier.”
“I think Mom would like that,” Beatrice says. “And if they can take Diego with them, even better. I want to meet him.”
“Actually, me too,” Ava agrees. “I’ll tell them.”
“Oh, by the way, Michael texted me,” Beatrice informs her. “Hans wanted to throw us a little party tomorrow night.”
“What about Suzanne?” Ava asks.
“She said Areala invited her to their trip in Vegas and they leave tomorrow afternoon so we are good.”
“You better give your mom a huge pocket money so she can have so much fun,” Ava kisses her head and sets aside the towel. She takes a brush and brushes Beatrice’s hair.
“I will, I will,” Beatrice chuckles. “That feels good.”
“Being free feels good,” Ava tells to her. “I’ve never seen you this laid back. Like really, really laid back.”
“Well, we don’t have to worry about us,” Beatrice tells her.
“Yes. It’s so freeing,” Ava says. “Sometimes it feels surreal and I had to pinch myself.”
“And it’s only been a day,” Beatrice takes the comb and stands up. She tucks a strand of hair behind Ava’s ear. “I love you so much,” she kisses Ava.
“I love you too,” Ava says. “So much.”
And that night, they showed each other. Beatrice was glad they put her mom on the farthest room from theirs.
The next day, Areala stopped by to pick up Suzanne.
“You’re early!” Suzanne says. “I still need to pop in the shower.”
“I’ll wait, I don’t mind,” Areala smiles at her.
“Okay,” Suzanne says. “Beatrice, keep her company, will you?”
“Sure,” Beatrice smiles at her mom.
“Is Ava here?” Areala asks when Suzanne was gone.
“Yes, she’s in the study. Why?”
“Can I talk to you two?”
“Sure, this way,” Beatrice leads the way. “My love?” she knocks and peeks in.
“You don’t have to do that,” Ava chuckles. “This is your home too. What’s up?”
“Areala is here. She wants to talk to us.”
“Come on in.”
“Good afternoon, Ava,” Areala greets her. It’s obvious that she’s anxious. Ava points at the couches and they sit there.
“I wanted to apologize to both of you,” Areala starts. “I know I put a lot of pressure to you two from the start. I shouldn’t have done that.”
Ava nods.
“Beatrice, I just want you to know that I did it all to protect you,” Areala continues. “It was not my intention to cause you pain. Ava, you as well.”
“I understand,” Beatrice says.
“Me too,” Ava nods.
“I hope you can forgive me,” she sniffs.
“Areala, I’m very thankful to you,” Beatrice tells her. “You were there from me thick or thin. When I was still a nobody. You missed a lot on your family because of me and I appreciate the love and effort you gave me. I am not angry at you or anything. I let you go because it's time I stand on my own and for you to spend time with your family.”
“Your fans don’t think that,” she said.
“Did they attack you?” Ava asks worriedly.
Areala nods.
“I’m so sorry,” Beatrice holds her hand. “Don’t worry, I’ll fix it, okay?”
“Thank you,” she says.
“Please don’t blame yourself,” Ava says. “Don’t listen to them.”
“I’ll try to,” Areala says. “This Vegas trip might help.”
“I’ll do something, don’t worry,” Beatrice promises.
Areala calms herself before going back out to wait for Suzanne.
Ava and Beatrice waves them goodbye as they drive off.
“Don’t worry too much about it,” Ava tells Beatrice.
“What?”
“I know you. You’ll blame yourself,” Ava says. “Please, don’t. It’s not your fault.”
“It was not my intention to villainize her. I just want to tell the truth.”
“I’m sure a lot of people know that,” Ava says. “Sometimes fans are just very protective they step out of line.”
“I’ll address it later to them,” she says.
“Right,” Ava nods. “Now, bring back that excitement you had for tonight’s party.”
“Am I that bad?”
“Tell me, is there something going on besides the party?” Ava narrows her eyes.
“It’s a surprise so please don’t ask me anymore for I will crack,” Beatrice tells her.
“It better be good,” Ava flicks her nose.
“Ouch! You-” Beatrice tries to do the same but Ava runs off.
“Catch me, lover!”
“Is everything set?” Beatrice quietly asks Camila as Ava talks to Shannon and Mary.
“Of course,” Camila winks at her.
They were supposed to launch the music video for the re-recording of ‘Dress’ after the airing of Oprah’s show but Beatrice suddenly decided against it. She thought it would be too much stuff happening in one night and of course there will be people that will think it’s just PR. Now, two days after, they are ready.
“Cam!” Ava hugs Camila.
“Hey,” Camila smiles.
Michael arrives with Hans on the private booth.
“Order whatever you want, it’s on the house,” Hans declares.
“Can I DJ later?” Beatrice asks teasingly.
“Of course, you can,” he laughs. “But not drunk, alright? And don’t play The 1989 exclusively. My patrons will hate my club.”
Everyone laughs.
“You did that?” Ava asks.
“Oh yes,” Hans answers. “That’s how we met.”
“And how we met,” Michael kisses Hans on the cheek.
“You two!” Ava beams.
“Man, I wish Crimson is here,” Camila huffs. “It sucks to be the only one who does not have their significant other here.”
“Don’t worry, you can have Bea when she gets annoyingly drunk,” Ava teases.
“Ouch,” Beatrice purses her lips.
“Hello, I’m here!” Yasmine winks.
“Ew, you’re straight!” Camila fakes disgust.
They all laugh again.
“Come on guys, order what you want,” Hans says to them.
At around 10PM, Camila brings out her laptop.
“What are you doing?” Ava asks.
“Oh, I need to make a video live right now,” Camila says.
“What video?” Yasmine asks.
“Oh, I think I know,” Michael says.
“What video?” Ava asks. “Oh…” she realizes.
“It’s my surprise,” Beatrice kisses heron the cheek.
“Our video?” Ava is gaping.
“It better not be a sex video,” Mary says. She’s very tipsy.
“Mary!” Shannon scolds her.
“And… it’s live,” Camila says. “People will go wild. It’s my best work yet.”
“Well, project it on the screen,” Hans points. “The cables are behind that thingy.”
Camila sets it up and plays the music video.

“Oh, Lilith is really serious,” Michael laughs.
“What?” Ava immediately asks.
“Didn’t you see her comment after the Oprah show?” Michael asks.
“What comment?” Beatrice asks.
“Oh, she wants you,” Michael says.
“Who, Ava?”
“No, you,” Michael points to Bea.
“What?” Ava’s voice gets higher. Everyone suddenly is looking at them.
“What do you mean?” Beatrice is so confused.
“Lilith has a big fat crush on Beatrice and she’s not afraid to be vocal about it on social media,” Michael says.
“Maybe she just wants to antagonize Ava,” Beatrice says.
“I don’t think so,” Michael says. “I looked at the pictures from the Dior event and there were some that she looks like she’s checking you out.”
“That bitch!” Ava fumes.
“Baby, don’t mind her,” Beatrice tells her. “As if I’ll go look her way.”
“I know that,” Ava says, her voice a little calmer. “But I’ve heard rumors about her. She likes to get involved in taken people.”
“It’s fine,” Beatrice assures her. “It’s not like we’re going to work together. Or even with you.”
“God, I hope not,” Ava says.
“I’ll make sure she doesn’t get near,” Shannon says.
“Damn, your video is doing well,” Mary says. “People love it.”
“Of course they do,” Camila says proudly. “Yasmine put her magic in the re-recording, Bea and Ava are naturals and of course, I edited it.”
“To ‘Dress’,” Yasmine raises her cocktail.
“To ‘Dress’,” everyone cheers.
On their way home, Ava is silent. Beatrice let her for a few minutes but she can’t take it anymore.
“Ava, are you still thinking of Lilith?” Beatrice asks.
“How can I not?” Ava sighs. “That woman has a reputation and not a very good one.”
“So do I,” Beatrice tells her.
“You’re different,” Ava says. “Don’t ever compare yourself to her or I’ll swear to god, I’ll break up with you.”
“Damn,” Beatrice whistles. “That bad?”
“You don’t want to know the scandals she’s been involved in,” Ava crosses her arms.
“Okay, I believe you. But please don’t think about her. You heard Shannon, she got it. She won’t go near us,” Beatrice says.
“Okay.”
“You aren’t going to let this go that easily, are you?” Beatrice asks after Ava became silent again.
“I don’t wanna,” Ava says. “It’s better safe than sorry.”
“Okay, but please don’t let yourself lose a night of sleep over it,” Beatrice tells her. “Just think about how much fun we had tonight. And the reactions to ‘Dress’.”
“Sorry if I ruined the night,” Ava leans her head on Bea’s shoulder.
“You didn’t,” Beatrice assures her. “Well, maybe just a little,” she jokes.
“Shut up!” Ava lightly slaps her arm but leans back her head again.
“I love you,” Ava says.
“I love you too,” Bea beams at her.
“I can’t sleep,” Ava snuggles to Beatrice who is reading the latest Taylor Jenkins Reid book in bed.
“Do you want me to read out loud?” Beatrice asks. “Like a bedtime story?”
“God, no,” Ava laughs. She decides to reach for her phone and browse.
“That can probably make you not able sleep more, you know,” Beatrice says.
“You’re right,” Ava sighs and sits up. “What if I do a live? Maybe answer some fan questions.”
“Can’t you do that on twitter?” Beatrice asks.
“I’m not in the mood to type.”
“Suit yourself then,” Beatrice kisses her cheek and gets back to reading.
“Can I do it here?” Ava asks.
“Sure,” Bea shrugs.
“Now how do I start this thing?” Ava wonders.
“Here and here then here, Grandma,” Beatrice chuckles and helps her.
Beatrice phone pings.
“Do you have me on notifications?” Ava teases her.
“Shut up,” Bea rolls her eyes.
“Since when?” Ava pushes.
“Since they put the notification-thingy,” Beatrice says. “Happy?”
“Happy,” she gives her a chaste kiss.
“Go on, there’s probably people now,” Beatrice says.
“Okay,” Ava smiles at her. “Hi! Good evening,” she says on her phone. “Wow, there’s a lot of you already.”
Beatrice can’t help but listen and smile.
“I can’t sleep so I thought it would be a great idea to do a Q&A tonight. So, ask away.”
Ava looks at the comments.
“Whoa, it’s going too fast I can’t…”
“You can scroll,” Beatrice whispers.
“Okay, let me just…” Ava reads some. “Not a question but I want to say to you and Beatrice that you were brave for putting yourselves out there. We are proud of you,” she reads. “Aw, thank you, that means a lot.”
Beatrice beams at that.
“How are your preparation for your films coming along?” she read next. “Good, good. I am doing a lot of stunt training at the moment because I really want to do my own as much as possible. We’re doing a lot of costume fittings as well. For my other films, I can’t say much yet. Just watch out for them. I am already proud of them actually.”
“Are you open to work with JC la Torre in the future?” Ava reads. “Of course, JC and I are good. We actually talked the other day. But he’s really focused on theater now so we’ll see.”
Beatrice raises her eyebrow.
“What?” Ava mouths.
“Nothing,” Beatrice chuckles quietly.
“Who are you talking to? Is it Beatrice next to you?” Ava reads. “Yes, she’s beside me reading a book. Do you want her to join us?”
Ava pans the camera to Beatrice and she sheepishly waves her hand.
“What are you reading? youngsilva is asking,” Ava says.
“‘Carrie Sotto Is Back’ by Taylor Jenkins Reid,” Beatrice answers.
“She loves TJR,” Ava comments. “They want to know who would you cast as Celia St. James, babe.”
“Sadie Sink and Jessica Chastain,” Beatrice winks. “Netflix, send them the script. Also, make it into a limited series! One episode per husband and maybe three exclusively about Evelyn and Celia.”
“Buy it from Netflix, they said,” Ava laughs.
“I’ll think about it,” Beatrice chuckles.
“Okay, last about TJR, do you ship Daisy and Billy?” Ava asks.
“Hell no!” Beatrice exclaims. “Yes, they are like soulmates and they understood each other but I don’t think they would fit together. It’s like what Karen said, people who are too similar don’t mix well. I believe they were meant to meet each other so they can turn their lives around and make amazing music and that’s it. And I'm a firm believer that Simone knew Daisy the most.”
“Anyone knows TJR, hook my girlfriend right here with her number so they can pick each other’s brain out,” Ava chuckles.
“Next question,” Beatrice says sitting up and leaning on the headboard comfortably. Ava sits up as well close to her.
“Beatrice, do you consider Ava as your soulmate?” Ava grins while reading it.
“Of course,” Beatrice answers immediately. “We are more different than similar, Ava and I. But we understand each other deeply. We are like these two very differently cut puzzle piece that fits together well. I don’t know,” she shrugs and smiles. “I just cannot imagine my life without her.”
“In case you are wondering, I feel the same,” Ava smiles. “She’s just more eloquent than I am.”
“Next?”
“Are you going on tour with Bea?” Ava reads. “On the US tour, probably not? We’ll see. Depends on my schedule. On her Europe tour, maybe. I’ll be filming ‘Joan of Arc’ but maybe I can squeeze in a show or two.”
“Yeah, it will be tricky,” Bea comments.
“How did your parents take the news?” Ava reads. “Me and my parents are great now. There’s no issue whatsoever if you are wondering.”
“Same for my mom,” Beatrice says. “We are all good.”
“Are you mad at your publicists?” Ava bites her lip after reading the question.
“Please, please, don’t attack them,” Beatrice says. “They were just doing their jobs to protect us. Yes, it might seem a bit too much what they did but they did it for us. I want you to know that there’s no bad blood between them and us. We told the truth not for you to gang up on them. They are human too, remember that. So please, stop it.”
“Please, guys,” Ava pleads too. “Can we just move forward from here on out?”
“Yes, I agree,” Beatrice nods. “Do it for us. Because we moved on and so should you.”
“Okay, let’s do a few more before we say goodbye,” Ava says. “When are you gonna bet married? Let’s ask Bea that.”
“Sooner than you think,” Bea wiggles her eyebrows.
Ava lightly slaps her in the leg. “Don’t give them false hopes, babe.”
“Someday,” Beatrice grins. Ava looks at her grinning too and nods.
“What is your favorite pet name for Ava?”
“I like calling her ‘darling’ but she hates it,” Beatrice chuckles. “She prefers ‘my love’ so that.”
“Who is your favorite cat?” Ava reads. “Oh man, don’t make me choose!”
“She likes Mariska the most,” Beatrice quips.
“No that’s not true, I love them all equally.”
Beatrice narrows her eyes and shakes her head.
“Bea!” she scolds her. Beatrice just laughs.
“Last question?”
Ava sighs. “Okay, what’s the secret to a good relationship?”
“Communication,” Beatrice says. “I think we talked about this at Oprah’s and the answer will always be the same. You two really need to be able to talk to each other about anything.”
“It what builds a solid foundation and respect,” Ava nods. “So, talk, okay?”
“We would like to thank you for your support,” Beatrice says. “Thank you for making us feel loved and accepted. I hope you extend it to everyone in the community and not just us.”
“What she said,” Ava smiles. “They want us to kiss,” she laughs.
“Why not?” Beatrice grins and kisses her.
“We love you guys,” Ava gives the viewers a flying kiss.
“We love you,” Beatrice smiles.
“Until next time,” Ava waves.
Beatrice turns off the live. “So, are you ready to sleep now?”
“Sing to me first,” Ava smiles.
“How can I resist that smile?”
